Thank you! My F-150 is a 2004, in great shape, and has 194,000 miles on it. I bought it about 8 years ago from my father-in-law. My fuel filter had never been changed, so I knew it was way past time! You did a great job explaining what to do. I followed your directions, and it took me about 10 minutes from start to finish. I did not have to do anything with the switch, so it was really easy. It's running like a champ, now! I appreciate it!
First person I’ve seen who actually knows about the switch
Has to be the cleanest F150 I've seen! Very nice!
I thought this would be far more complicated but you made it look easy. Thanks for showing how!
+Drekk
Glad I could help. Thanks
I saw a few videos on this. Yours is by far the most comprehensive. Thanks! I too wish my truck was that clean underneath!
+Dave Mortimer Thanks man. Not sure why but ill take it lol.
I thought the same! Super clean lol
Good video, the goggles are a nice touch. Another thing you could do to reduce the fuel spillage after shutting of the fuel pump is removing the gas cap to let the tank depressurize.
PrimalurgesMiami Thanks ill keep that in mind.
This was helpful for my 2008 F150. Thank you. Also, the sock was a nice touch 👌
THANK YOU EVER SOOO MUCH. NEVER WORKED ON A FORD. SO, THIS HELPS ME TREMENDOUSLY. ALSO, AN EXCELLENT VIDEO & WOW, SO CLEAN UNDERNEATH. THE OTHER VID'S I'VE LOOKED AT WERE SO DARK AND DIRTY, COULDN'T MAKE OUT MUCH ABOUT HOW THEY'D GOTTEN THEIRS OFF. THANKS AGAIN
Everything is fine and dandy when it’s that clean. Live in Canada 🇨🇦 yo. Anything to do with quick connect and those tools are never good.
Perfect video. No bs, succinct and informative. Thanks
I did what you said and she is purring like new I can't thank you enough
Perfect. To the point with good clear video. Nice use of the clamps too!
You go in very good detail. Very appreciative! Look too see more.
I watched several videos, this was the most helpful. Thanks
Good video, thank you! To the point, clear video, and knowledge!
Removing that switch and running my truck until dying did not depressurize my lines. Got soaked in gasoline, but the job is done. Running much better now.
Usually you just need to remove the fuse to fuel pump then start the vehicle until it stalls out. Then you should be okay
MAKE SURE YOU PUSH THE BUTTON IN ON THE FUSE thing (5HQBY) AFTER YOU RECONNECT IT, AND AFTER IT TRIPS FROM THE AIR IN THE LINE. It goes in about 2/3 of an inch. (the last part shown in the video)
Truck kept turning over and not starting, had me stumped. Pushed the button on top, felt it click, and vroom.
And don't use starting fluid when you're stumped.
Dude! This comment right here 🤣🤣 you're my hero 🙌
Yeah I missed that at the end of the video. Couldn't figure out why the truck wouldn't start, then I watched the video again and caught it at the end. Pushed the reset button in at the top and the truck cranked over on the 1st try 👍🏼
I was just trying to look at yours first video lmao dude you made a very biggg progress in 3 yearss !! Keep working broo
Haha, I will never watch this video again :D. It was scary to be on camera. Thanks though I'm on it!
DIY Creators ahahaha ahahah !!!
Yeah
Or you could do the job first thing in the morning before you go anywhere with the truck,,the fuel line pressure will go down overnight,, ( I've done it 4 times that way and was fine) could open the gas cap too, let out more pressure.
Thanks for the video , the orange clip had me stumped on my 03 excursion. Well done and thanks again
+whitelx50
Your Welcome glad this video could help.
The orange clip got me stump. At the other end got it apart. The old filter still on the gas line and new filter is on the truck hook up. The other got me completely stump
Help someone.
Someone give a hand the orange clip got me stump. I press down on the the orange clip nothing it happening. Been wrestling with it for some time now. Given up three times, but still no progress at all. Time to ask for help. I'm asking
.
OK people my orange had me blown away got me streaming because it had me stumped. Here what well help use a pawn size channel lock n squeeze the orange clip. It been 15 years and over 200,000 mile it had a rusted n carousion( miss spell) you need leverage to press down on the orange clip. Good luck. Like the video was very helpful.
Hello there next time just hit that switch on the side that will trip the switch it's just a safety switch in case you have an accident ,then when you finished just press the red bottom on top to reset it
Hey thanks for showing the depressurization process.
Well ! that is really clear, short & sweat
Best video for this. I love how you show everything, from start to finish. Others don't show how to do the depressurization. Just one question. Do I have to pull the switch out or can I just unplug the wire?
Thanks. You can just unplug it. I believe I pulled it out to show it.
NEITHER! Let your engine cool off and unscrew your fuel cap. SIMPLE!
Just let the truck sit over night and undo the gas cap in the moring and it'll be safe to go ahead. Done it twice so far
I have been changing the fuel filter on my 06 f150 for 11 years now. Simply let truck rest for several minutes, remove fuel cap and change filter. Not much drip at all. Just what remains in filter housing.
Do you have a video on how to check fuel pressure?
Thank you! Your video was very helpful, its appreciated!
+Sir Arquecy
Thanks
What would happened if the fuel filter is really dirty, will it male shaking when. Speeding up??
My man! Thank you
On the left side of filter what are you releaseing and with what ,
Wow .... Thank you sir . What a great video!
what is the switch you took out by the fuse box
Best video out there for fuel filter replacement on Ford F-150. Thanks
You the man good teacher too
Thanks for info. When I was did the first fuel filter replacement I broke that stupid blue clip and somehow I put it back and wrap electric tape around and now I think I need to replace the line too and stealership they want $120. Now I will take my time
+dan deac Yea take your time you'll be fine.
Hey just call the auto parts and ask for. a fuel line retainer and u don't have to replace the fuel line, two clips is like 10 dlls
+francisco garcia it's exactly what I did 2 weeks ago and works perfect. Thank you for info.
Great job, made it very easy to see everything you were doing.
good video have an 07 f150
Do you need the puller?
Does anyone know what the point is of the fuel line extension is from the tank side???
Outstanding video. Thanks.
You could just pull the fuse for the fuel pump relay, otherwise good work.
What tires are those? I love V shaped tread!
hey, thanks a lot. very helpful
I did this it didn't work on mine I ended up calling ford and they told me to simply just pull the fuel pump fuse under the hood and start until vehicle died wait 5 minutes pull lines it was way quicker than doing this that reset sensor is almost impossible to get on or off
Tf you talkin bout
Lol
A much easier way to depressurize the fuel system is to simply unplug the pump driver module above the rear axle, start the truck, let it die (from having no fuel), and boom no pressure. Only have to unclip one wiring connection without tearing things apart.
+Eric Leighton
Thanks! But you don't know what you don't know. I'll keep that in mind :)
Good video though!
or just pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it over and let it die
Or just take off the gas cap and let it cool down.
ok helpful tip...what made u replace it what was your truck doing?
rounddancefan1 it’s supposed to be replaced every 40-80k miles
Great video. Thanks.
Why did you have to replace the fuel filter? What were its symptoms? Thanks for the vid.
I bought the truck at that time and wanted to change a few things. I believe it's recommended after every 100k per the manual.
DIY Creators its recommended every 24k or two years
Great video but quick question.. mine is a 5.4 triton. I just changed all plugs and coil packs due to a cylinder 3 misfire. After changing all of those I ran down the road for maybe 15 to 20 miles and truck started running rough again and threw the cylinder 3 misfire code.. could the fuel filter cause that issue?
I have a 2004 5.4 triton as well. Mine throws codes p171 and 174. currently changing out the injectors. Hopefully that solves the issue.
@@nimbusphotographyhawaii2309 did it solved it?
Try the fuel driver module that's what my problem ened up being it's back behind the spare tire
Great video. Can you advise on where to get the filter removal tool? Will the auto parts store have that? Thanks!
+Brian B Thanks. Advance Auto Parts, Here is the link shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-fuel-line-disconnect-tool-ac522-w83114/9020004-P?searchTerm=fuel+line+tool
Thanks!
Appreciate ya👍
Well done...thank you
Are you able to just let the truck cool down, and undo the gas cap or do you actually have to disconnect the fuel pump to de-pressurize?
Brian L. I did my 2006 f150 early morning forgot to remove gas cap and never started truck. Didn't do any of the electrical stuff. And no fuel spray when I switched Then again it was 60° out and truck was slightly above E.
NeewollaH * That is great to know. Thank you so much
very helpful thanks
I have to say good video
1 question can you pull the fuel pump relay to depression the fuel
Yes, then just start the engine and let it run until it dies. No more pressure. Or you can just let it sit overnight to completely cool down, unscrew the gas cap and after a few minutes it'll be depressurized. No need to do all that other stuff unless you're working on a warm or just ran engine.
Thank you
Nice video! Thanks bro!
what happens if you dont depressurize the fuel line?
challen carland then pressurized fuel will spray out when you disconnect the line
👍
good job dude
Thank you
Nice video
5.4?
Awesome video!!
CZcams is a helpful tool
I followed your video and now I cannot get my 2006 F150 to start. Any advice?
Same here. Trying to figure out how to get the air out of the line. What ended up working for you?
This guy is a genius! Sorry but am copying your idea… am going to be rich
👌🏼
2000 ford ven
Not a half inch!!
Isn't that 3/8" not half?
1/4 drive
"
crunk"
en la mia es 5/16
It all started here…
Can't you just pull the relay
Probably easier if your dad didn’t wait 22 years and 200k miles to replace it. I can’t even get the lines off the filter
That tool looks like itworks better then the piece of crap plastic one I bought.
You done most off camara not to helpful...
Nice goggles
Good video
Great video, thanks
Nice video
