My exact thought while watching this; How much remaking them like they did the lion king, forcing realistic animal looks and expressions (but somehow less expressive than actual animals) onto a film whose whole appeal is the character's expressiveness and posing would gut it.
My favourite game to play is listening to Pogo tracks and then going to watch the film he used to spot the snippets! Never had more fun than with the Back to the Future mix
You play Find the Sample, too!! It's really fun and sometimes challenging to play it with mashup tracks that don't have videos, like a lot of his older, rarer projects. He also reuses a lot of samples in different songs, and it's really cool to be able to instantly recognise them and know where they're from. Listen to all three of his Star Trek TNG songs, then watch the series and prepare for an awesome experience of hearing all the little samples he used. Or, Listen to his Casablanca tracks then watch the movie and find the samples.
Damn, these older Disney movies are visually stunning. The environments are just heavenly. Your music really does them justice and fits the visuals. Nice job, as always. :)
This was my grandpa's favorite animated movie of all time. And back in the day I showed him Wishery and he really liked it, which I never would have expected in a million years. This song speaks to me on a personal level because I think he would have really enjoyed this as well, and I would have loved to discuss this with him. Your music has a special way of helping people bond!
Same can be said for my grandpa who I just lost this year. I still remember the time he told me about the first time he saw Bambi in theaters as a kid and how he was so moved by the final shot. I decided to surprise him with a screening of Bambi on his birthday and he really enjoyed. I even watched Bambi in his honor when I heard of his tragic passing. Godspeed grandpa, you're with Bambi's mom now.
I'm genuinely addicted to this track... I've listened to it about 10 times today, there's just something about the track that encompasses the elegance of the early Disney animation style shown in Bambi, it's mind boggling really.
Pogo is able to capture old Disney nostalgia better than rewatching the movies themselves with adult lenses. This is why I love his work. We often forget how magical these movies were, but these musical tracks are often able to provide a tad sample of what we probably felt as kids.
Personally, the way the black lines, the very thin outlines of the characters, not to mention the palette colors of light, dark, and mid of each part of their eyes, body, head, and features is enticing that you can easily frame one shot of this movie and it explains the whole movie in one go.
I’ve been suffering severe pain the last 2 days that has crippled me to my bed and coming here somehow still gets me dancing to the beat for those few minutes. Just a little bit of escape.
Honestly? Money. The cost for creating a 3d movie is fractions of the cost it takes to make a 2d movie. The other factor is labor. A single animator with 3d software can do what used to take entire teams of people to do, in less time.
Disney used to run literal sweat factories of artists working on the wage of dimes to the hour, max, and worked to the bone for often times ten to twelve hour shifts. Hundreds of people were crammed into a single space and taught exactly how to copy the Disney style, and then forced to work until they grew so sick of the process they either left the company, or died, and not by natural causes, if you catch my drift. Even so, if we were to allow Disney to go back to having those sweat factories at those insanely low wages, they still wouldn't since it's cheaper, and more productive, to pay for a rendering farm, the people and parts to maintain it, and the small, few man animation crew to use it. In Japan, or at least, this is what I think they think, if something is of good quality, it's worth the price of doing it. I say this only based on looking at the mentality of the people and their leaders through history. Though a practical people, if something was worth doing, then it was worth the cost of doing it, even if what was being done was art. In Western cultures, if something did/does not pay great dividends right away, it wasn't/isn't worth doing.
@@VocalMabiMaple It is pretty easy to underestimate the amount of time, effort and money that goes into 3D animation. Thousands of hours for a single scene. 3D animated movies tend to be cheaper but if it was as simple as "3D movies are cheaper" than we still would have 2D animated movies. Because 2D animated movies can be made VERY cheaply where as with a 3D animation you can only cut so many corners before it starts to look ugly. Where as with 2D animated movies a cut corner could actually be pleasing in some ways, a new 'art-style'. While it wasn't just one factor the biggest reason for 3Ds take over in the closed of system that is USA cinema is because we stopped wanting to see 2D animation. Not we as individuals but we as in the market as a whole. 2D animations were getting harder and harder to sell with smaller and smaller profit margins. Not only would 3D movies tend to be cheaper but they would also out perform 2D alternatives. There is some light though for us that enjoy hand drawn animation though. Klaus came out about a year ago and used advancements in 3D animation to better the quality of 2D animation. It looks really good and performed really good. While they might not mean Disney will go back it might mean more smaller budget but great movies like that in the future.
money. we are constantly moving toward a world infested in algorithims and AI because the power and money hungry dont want to pay their works and dont see them as people.
@@SirNarax Exactly. What people don't realize is the only reason 3D animated movies are so popular is because it is a major Hollywood fad right now, and producers aren't seeing the money in any hand-drawn features. I'm hoping that hand-drawn animation has a comeback, and it seems like it is having a small one right now I hope
Pogo, I know you must get this a lot and I really hope you see this but never stop doing what your doing. Your music is like no other and you’ve made some of my favorite songs. Thank you Pogo!! P.S. When is your next album coming?? Haha
It's funny, I've had isolated incidents where I thought of Bambi, and then an acquaintance did, and then an anime shop did, then I talked about Bambi to my brother, now you release this shortly after. Edit: 179 likes?! The precognition is strong in 179 of us! Let the power of subconscious communication continue! Nice to know I'm not alone. Lol
I never thought the tempo of changing from 4/4 to 3/4 then back again could be the most hypnotic experience I ever heard with this one Nick. (I'll admit the tempo changes were a little hard to catch at first, but began to catch them after a couple of listening.)
You know guys, If you're fan, if you truly like POGO, wonderful artist, you can realise this : our Pogo offer for his fans, a new Pogo's blockbuster each season, 4 x per year, yeah, for me, this one, wonderful, that "BAMBINO" is definitely The pogo's blockbuster of summer 2019, forever...
Pogo honestly agree, the essence of youtube that was there is long gone but thnks to creators like u theres still hope, keep doin wat u do man, as long as yall r there the hope for a better youtube for individual creators continues
And maybe if the Simpsons showrunners like his remix enough they can play it in one of the episode openings. They've done crazier things than that before.
Bambi will be celebrating its 80th anniversary very soon. A lot of the movie's themes in a recent rewatch were so much more artfully poignant, if a little existential. Beautifully aged, very pretty little film in its early-Disney simplicity.
This song has such a warm and progressive sound. Really flows well. Brings a nostalgic feeling to it but also sounds next level, this is excellent work Nick.
Got here so fast, once again you have woven pure magic out of these films that mean so much to many people. Bambi has rapidly become one of my favorites from Disney and you've captured its very essence for all to enjoy. What you do here Nick is astounding as everything you touch becomes a delicious blend of wonder and emotion time and time again. You are a god among men Pogo. Godspeed.
Man, this came out so beautifully! The visuals and music... perfection. ...I honestly would love to see a remix of Pinocchio done, someday. It's absolutely one of my top favorite Disney movies. Keep up the good work, Pogo ❤️
Pogo, this is incredible. The music is awesome. This is probably the most beautiful video you ever edited. I'm finding again that heavy psychedelic vibe I had with your older stuff. Nothing more to add, thank you again for your fantastic work.
This hits home for me. This is so special to me especially with all the wonderful things going on in my life starting with the day this was released! Thank you Pogo!

i really hope they don’t do a remake of this movie. there’s something so sweet and fluid about how the 2d characters move!
Leave it to Disney to ruin their own masterpieces
They will.
They will 😅 they don't really care anymore about leaving the classics alone sadly all they care about is money sadly.
My exact thought while watching this; How much remaking them like they did the lion king, forcing realistic animal looks and expressions (but somehow less expressive than actual animals) onto a film whose whole appeal is the character's expressiveness and posing would gut it.
I lost hope in Disney when they remade dumbo

I find it amazing how someone can make such music from cutting off or overlapping voices from a movie to create such a masterpiece
I feel bad for leaving Pogo behind for classic rock.. so I’m back
