It's so funny to see all six members of the "quintette" with beards and crazy clothing. Note that Scott is "playing" some sort of electronic keyboard, or at least a dummy of one. Hell, this is 1937, and Scott was just barely into the electronic stuff at this time, if at all. John Williams' dad on the big bongo is also a scream!
Wow. I didn't know that John Williams' dad was in Raymond Scott's quintet. Very cool.
the quote from "The Streets of Cairo" from 0:48 to 1:09 only makes this more awesome.
love me some Raymond Scott music -- such genius!
In the Bugs Bunny cartoon, "Jack Wabbit and the Beanstalk', they play a segment of this tune (when Bugs falls off giant's head and the giant is trying to catch him)
Fabulous!
@ThatsGoodTellivision Wow, cheers for that fact! He is a GREAT drummer and should be far better known. Scott's music is arranged down to the last tonk on the cowbell, and JW plays it all flawlessly and with style.
I have the superb CD "Reckless Nights and Turkish Delights"
I love the music and dancing.
I was there. It WAS EXACTLY like this.
Now that's what I call playin!
Professor Elemental is a genius to slow this down.
that 'keyboard' that he's 'playing' is far more likely a qanun (kanun, various spellings, many middle eastern countries) and what a great font at the beginning!
The Mos Eisley Cantina. You can find a star pilot there to get you off the planet.
ITS DISCIPLINE THAT BEGETS LOVE!
Nous reconnaissons Raymond Scott parmi les musiciens. Sa musique est aussi utilisée pour les dessins animés.
Watch this instead of just the music...Great girls!!!!!

Can't. Stop. Watching... 😵💫
Four with exactly no clue what constitutes kick-arse musicianship.

My guess is that Arabania is another number from that film, as the IMDB reference indicates there are lyrics to that one. I cannot find any reference to it outside IMDB, though. www.imdb.com/title/tt0028566/soundtrack?ref_=tt_trv_snd
I see there was a composer named Harry Revel. I wonder if he was related to Morris Revel, author of Le Velse, El Borede del Greciose, and Beléro...
Egypt, Egypt

Mysteriously reminded of green women from Star Trek... Hmmmmm....
I think they're Romulans, Captain.
So that's where the snake trumpet enchantment song came from

Yeah. All his music was like that.
Somehow, I don't think there was music just like this, or dancing ladies like these, in the ancient days of Ali Baba...but then, can we really be sure? I wasn't around then.
that's funny hhhhhhh
Must have been before fast food. Look at those lean, slender bodies.
