Today's episode is about The Dark King - a theoretical fifth Chaos deity foreseen in prophecies by both Eldar and Humans across history. It was envisioned to ascend through the Emperor of Mankind, embodying the relentless pursuit of wanton destruction devoid of purpose or direction.

Tzeentch has been challenged before on his own turf. Yssarile the deamon king actually presented himself as a threat and was almost equal to Tzeentch to match him for a billion Warp years before Tzeentch shattered his Warp staff. So even Tzeentch in his prime has a limitation that can be overcome.
Not really, because it wouldn't be a living thing tied to the materium. Warp gods don't count, and if we _are_ counting them, Tzeentch almost certainly wins. Big E perhaps is equal or greater, but the Dark King would only be a fraction of his power

What would really show chaos is not erasing the dark king but pulling a "I am Mufasa and I am Scar" the emperor coming back and showing that both the Hope and Despair of humanity is one and the same that they are the same the light and the darkness, what is needed to draw power from both sides of the coin.

I was hoping the next Chaos god would be something like The Chaos god of Interior Decorating. Main powers include bending reality to change how things appear, moving things around in the blink of an eye, and making enemies bankrupt.

The fact that Slaanesh was the chaos god that was sent to tempt the Emperor is scarier than the other 3.
One would think Tzeentch, but no. BigE sees scheming and plotting as his duty. He does it day in and day out for necessity. What would be his greatest temptation? To abandon it all.

I always liked the retconned story of Malice/Malal as the 5 th chaos god, but I like this new idea as well. To me this is describing what Malal was supposed to be, a pure chaos god who was about destruction to the point that it will destroy itself eventually. My head cannon is Malal was a powerful opponent to the other Gods. so when the Emperor communed with them on Molich, apart of the bargain was he had to destroy/weaken Malal. I do like the idea that the Dark King is like humanity’s Slaanesh, and as others have pointed out could be a reason the Emperor didn’t want to be worshipped as this was a possibility.

Wouldn't Malial/Malice be the shadow of the Dark Emperor? His power and form, momentarily cast off, until such a time as he is to be reunited with the Emperor of Mankind and reborn as the 5th Chaos God of Destruction he was always meant to be?

This could be a nice twist to the imperium, in their insatiable hunger for control and vanquish of everything heretical just burst a new chaos god that embodies that. A god of conquest and subjugation.

Yup, while the other gods seduce their followers with power this god just forces you to worship him because is that strong, and because you rather appeal to it than face oblivion.
Nope, the Chaos God of Control will be the Tau one. Their Ethereals basically lobotomize their followers for ultimate control for "the greater good" so the Tau are the ones with the insatiable thirst for control. The Tyranids will probably wind up making the one of gluttony/hunger. And my head canon has the Eldar God (not Slaanesh) as the eighth one to fill out the eight pointed star of Chaos.
Humanity's is just going to be destruction, ruin and cataclysm.
But what would the God of conquest models or minions look like?
@@zzconmanzz1 considering that the chaos gods have sort of medieval motifs, maybe the god of conquest has a spanish conqueror look, you know horse mount or maybe is fused to a horse like creature, chain mail looking armor the minions could have a slave motif, shackles everywhere small and skinny but they come in large numbers, maybe mayor deamons are like jailors on branderers, basically when you are going against its forces you feel opressed, like anything you do they can over come it just to get you, and take you away.
In Immortal Hulk, it's shown that the One Above All has two faces. The One Below All is its destructive side. It is the essence of unmaking and annihilation. It has only dark desires and impulses with no true mind. It acts as the One Above All's own version of a hulk.
All positive and negative emotions go to the chaos gods. But what would happen if people started to believe that the chaos gods had another face? Another side? Believing in or rather using belief against the chaos gods might be the only way to truly thwart them. Forcing into them different persona's to embody different aspects and essentially fracturing them while they technically remain whole.

I think this is a true measure of the Emperor's power. He could absorb more of the Warp due to his greater innate potential, a level of power Horus could not achieve even with the power being supplied by the Chaos gods.
And the fact that he could stand and fight with Horus, even with his greatly reduced power, is the icing on the cake.

He was absolutely destroyed in hundreds of ways by Horus as each individual fragment and aspect of them fought. Horus was savoring his wins and could have absolutely bodied him from the get go.

As the Master of Mankind falls, he will rise again as a malevolent god that is so terrible and violent, even Khorne himself would shutter in fear.
I have been thinking the emperor is the 5th god for a hot minute. He agreed to bring humanity to the gods's whims, and join them as the 5th, but it was a ruse, an attenpt to break the agreement that was his only chance to free humanity from the plans that had entrapped it since the first murder.
Warhammer has demons of law. I always thought the emperor was the one demon prince of law for Warhammer 40k. He doesn't move, 1000 psykers die a day to keep him alive and his empire is static. Combines all the princes of law into one package.
The Dark King will never rise, it is a shade of what will never be and could only exist when the Emperor was not mentally prepared for it in the 30k era. It is ironic that the machinations of the Chaos Gods ensured the very creation of the Anathema they sought to prevent by the 40k period.
Don't underestimate GW.

The chosen path to godhood is incredibly important for the type of god he would become. Drinking the warp leads him to dark king, worship by humanity for pure reasons could make all the difference.

@sophiawilson8696 retcon? It is an old term for when shows retroactively change the estsblished orign of a character or event in an established story arc, specifically with no in story reason. For Ollie he started as lowly Guardsmen that tried to stop Horus killing the Emporer, then he was randomly made an Perpetual and the Emperors oldest freind from like WW2. Now they have made him something else again.
The greatest irony is that Emperor never claimed to be a god, and then humanity went and worshipped him anyway...and their millennia of misery and religious mania is going to turn him into a Chaos god. That's just perfect.
It does make sense the chaos god of humanity would be a god of ruin, given how sad humanity has screwed itself over, from the Dark age of technology, to the age of strife, to the imperium of man, to the Horus heresy. That path can only be described as "ruin".
Nurgle is already a "ruin god" (ruin/decay/circle of life etc.)

If you would split human history to 3 "epochs" , the words best used to describe them would be , progress = dark age of technology, strife = age of strife and stagnation = imperium (reclamation for the crusade , but that didnt last long). Overall one word to best describe them all would imo be survival. And a chaos god of survival might be quite interesting and could actually finally represent chaos as it should be, a force capable of good but also evil. But for the sake of grimdark we get khorne 2.0

I find the closed loop on End and the Death really interesting. It feels very similar to what is happening to Dante and the Sanguinor helping him be who he needs to be. We still don't know Dante's true purpose but presumably he will be there for Big E's final death, which might be the creation of the Sanguinor (as beings from the warp can be born after they exist)

This really sounds, and feels, like malice(who is supposed to personify true concept of destruction) only this time instead being a separate chaos entity; this theory makes the emperor and malice two sides of the same coin(just like in elder scrolls oblivion with “Sheogorath and Jyggalag”).

Funny thing is... the other 4 don't actually WANT this to happen. They don't WANT humanity completely wiped out since doing so would mean less emotions and such to feed the warp and thus themselves. If humanity went extinct the warp would almost if not completely settle eventually.

It would be cool to see the big E become this 5th chaos god. Rampaging through the warp in seer rage towards rhe other four. Confronting traitor legions along the way, sent by the other gods to distract and slow him down. But after seeing the true power of the warp manifested through him, the traitor legions pledge loyalty to him. Reunited with his fallen sons, he sets a massive scaled war through the warp.
The Emperor, Malal, and the Greater Good, teaming up against the Dark King, Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, and Tzeentch

My question is this, what if the Emporer stole nothing from the false gods? What if? Just what if, Tzeentch agreed to help the Emporer in His Grand Game, giving the Emperor the power and knowledge the the Master of Mankind needed, what if..... Everyone is talking about how the warship of the emperor created this BUT what if the collective warship is the only thing actually keeping him alive irl and with in the warp. Wouldn't this explain why he is getting stronger in the warp summoning saints and legions of the damned more easily?

We don't know. The Prophecy only tells us someone will rise eventually as the next Dark King. There are so many options, but Abaddon is definitely a front runner.

Look...... we all know that the Dark King is Sly Marbo.
This is what kind of makes me think that the emperor is actually malice. 1. Drives followers to hate chaos gods. 2. drives followers to kill anything thats not them. 3. In the process of all this countless people die in his name. Despite losing plenty of worshippers he still remains very powerful. He has always been a god hence why he was able to drink the warp more so then horus ever could even with the powers of chaos on his side. Its just checking a lot of boxes for me.
