It would be great if you also react to 'inside the episode' of HOTD. I've seen CZcamsrs 'Mac react' do it after each episode, maybe you guys want to do that too.
If Haleana wouldn't choose, both her kids will die.
Exactly. At least, that's what they told her in the book anyway....make a choice or they all die. Not to mention they also threatened "graping" her daughter if she didnt choose! Not sure why they didnt follow what happened in the book for that scene....
@@crystalk98Who cares it was still a great scene.
@@crystalk98 they constantly alter the book just slightly in favor of the blacks. Need a clear "good" and "bad" I guess for the basic viewer. If they had kept it that they tied up Alicent and waited for Helena to bring her kids in to say good night, then did what you stated above in front of them it would make her just a smidge to sympathetic. Also Rhaenyra did not specifically call for Aemond but they got give her a get out of jail free card with the viewers on that front as well

Idk if anyone has mentioned this but the reason for Syrax letting out a mournful roar on the beach was not only bc she felt rhyneras pain but Luke’s dragon arrayx came from one of syraxs eggs. So u had two mothers mourning their babies in that scene :(

I'm really glad they did not turn Aegon into a second Joffrey, but made him a more complex character.
My interpretation of him is that he has felt unloved his entire life, both by his mother and his father, and now that he's king, he is trying to fill that hole by winning the love of the people instead.
That's also why he was so good with his son and had him attend the small council. It is normal for the king's heir to be attending the small council as a child to learn how ruling the kingdom works, when Rhaenyra was young we also saw her be a cupbearer for Visery's small council for this reason.
But Aegon never got that treatment from Viserys, as he was not the heir. So now Aegon gives his own son the treatment he feels he was denied by his father, even though Jaehaerys was obviously way too young for it to make any sense.
He still had his own bastards fighting in the pits, betting on them. Joffrey darkness is still present. I think they listened to complaints about Dany & her sudden switch up in seasons 7 & 8. Most viewers wanted more obvious signs of her darkness/ crazy tendencies.
@@Taewills but even that felt weird on top of him being a rapist. I feel like they needed those things to make sure Rhaenyra always has the moral high ground no matter what. Kind of annoying. I'd like to see more darkness from Rhaenyra.
@@blueskybelyr I don’t believe rhaenyra has the moral high ground anyway
yea only too bad they made him a rapist so no hes still horrible
It was a mistake making him a grapist in season 1 though, feels like out of character.
Haleana picked the boy I think cause she knows it's futile from her visions but also I think her reaction was very believable. In the show she's been kind of on the spectrum so I think her reaction to shock and terror was really well done. Her freaking out and screaming wouldn't make sense with the way she's written in the show
They told her, it’s the boy or it’s all of you. So either she loses one child or loses them both. She had no choice but to point.
When she said she was afraid of the rats, she looked straight at little Jaehaerys' crib. And in the Blood and Cheese event she chose Jaehaerys, the prophetic dream she had, she dreamed of his death.
I was thinking that she picked the boy because she knew that this boy wouldnt want to become king and his life would be miserable anyway
in the scene with aegon, you can hear her say "they only want the boy", and during b&c she seemed to not realize whats happening she has a moment where she almost wakes up and then takes jaehaera. Poor girl, i dont know how her visions work but maybe shes sometime confused between reality and dream?
“On the spectrum” so when did GRRM write her on the spectrum???? She’s a dragon dreamer. Not on the spectrum.
Information: Syrax child dragon (Arrax) was also killed. Two mothers mourning.
That scene was beautifully done. I didn’t know if others would pick up on the nuance of it.
@@Jennifer-2329Did not know that beforehand about Arrax but I still loved that scene. Just thought Syrax was strictly feeling Rhaenyra’s emotions, as riders are so connected to their dragons. Was a beautiful scene indeed.
I really only feel bad for Syrax she had no control over her riders poor decision making
That is an unconfirmed rumor. There is absolutely no evidence to this one way or the other. Stop spreading false information.
Fun fact! The dragons actually can't fly over the wall, like Cregan said when he told Jace. I loved the way they added the small detail, because it kinda feels like this show is trying to correct the lore mistakes that GOT made in the later seasons where there were no more books to adapt from, like when Dany took her dragons over to save Jon and gang.
Only Silverwing couldn't fly to the other side of the wall because she was scared of something. This worried queen Alyssane but she didn't force her. I don't know if other dragons couldn't but the one we know about was afraid, maybe she can sense something was off and didn't want to fly there.
@@NatashaSalgado Precisely. I was confused when they said both dragons were there, but it didn't bother me really. But I'd assume that if Silverwing wouldn't go (because Alyssane tried twice I think to take her over) she didn't want to.
@@NatashaSalgadoThere are certain types of magic that cannot cross the wall and dragons are fire magic in the flesh
Cheese told her: cooperate or i kill you all. It's a horrific choice to have to make, but what happens if you don't choose? All 3 of you die anyway, and both of her children would be gone. By giving up her son she could at least protect one of them
Perhaps she saw a future in store for the daughter. She could not change her son's destiny.
@@shockwave1126I mean there is no future for them😂

Perhaps her own escapades with crispy Cole made her reevaluate her position.

Pudgey about the kid: so cute.
Me, knowing what will happen to him: 💀
In an interview with Phia who plays Helaena, she explained that she had to point out to Jahaerys in order to save her daughter. It was all about saving at least one child, because she was powerless in that situation. I thought her reaction was very accurate and consistent to her character (in the show) and it was so traumatically done well.
Scorpions were around before the events in Dance of the Dragons takes place. The Dornish used a scorpion against Meraxes and Rhaenys during Aegon I 's reign.

HOTD fans when eye for an eye :- what 😡🤬 , Aemonds mistake , That's wrong
HOTD fans when son for a son :- hell yeah 🤡 , kill the kid instead z Aemonds mistake 😡🤬.
Helaena is autistic coded meaning her reaction to this terrible event might not look 'right' in the eyes of some (Shock is crazy for anyone and everyone too though) I believe her 'visions' or dreams aren't clear. She said she fears the rats, and stares at her kid's beds. Its likely what she saw was literal rats just swarming her children and eating them or something. She has to interpret them, perhaps thats why she was so 'spacey' when Blood and Cheese are talking at her. She's realizing that her kids will likely both die if she doesn't do what they ask (Point out the prince) so she did. Plus anyone would panic and dissociate in that instance. Cole's job is to guard the queen and babies but the castle looked very dead in regards to patrols so i think he sent his men away so he could get with Alicent without interuption.
Nah, they ruined that scene. In the book she is driven mad by the traumatic events. Having visions or being autistic has nothing to do with it.
Yeah and noticed how she relapsed after she went down the staircase, she probably was thinking that all that happened was a dream then she realized that it's happening in real time that's why she gasped.
@@Rocket1377 Ruined, maybe if you're a know-it-all book reader. Most of you spoil the show with your constant negative bs.
@@wjohnson1110the book readers cant know it all - the book is historical conjecture with some truths - this is just as canon - and it makes more sense - two random assassins want to get their job done and run the heck away, they dont want to glory in it, that was twisted in the accounts in history. (Altho retcon of her not having two sons is indeed a retcon).
What annoys me more is how they keep trying to reduce Team Black’s responsibility for all the terrible things they do.
Yeah, we saw it in the Ice and Fire main series with Bran's visions, how he saw for example Theon's occupation of Winterfell as the sea flooding the castle. It makes a lot of sense that Helaena's visions would be very similar.
Blood and Cheese is way more traumatic in the book, they forced Halaena to choose between two sons and then kill the one she wanted to save---While they were awake.
“Your mommy wants you dead” I wish that line could have been included somehow in the scene. Although very well done, something about B&C felt incomplete to me.
@@akaHilton facts, I understand why they toned it down though but I was hoping for more in the lead up to
@akaHilton I think that line specifically wouldn't have fit the Blood and Cheese in the show, they seemed more amateur, frantic and detached, rather than having fun with the job

My tip for remembering Erryk and Arryk - Arryk ("A") is with ALICENT (also "A"), Erryk ("E") is with Emma (Rhaenyra). Or, mainly, I just remember NOT Arryk is with Team Black.
Whatever 😂
Tip for remembering which is which: Erryk is the one who's name starts with an E, Arryk is the one who's name starts with an A.
Or that Arryk is w Aegon (the King, it's his Kingsgaurd) & the other Erryk by default is w Rhaenyra or I guess Emma- that's kinda clever
that entire intro is a huge part of why i love your guys reactions 😭 so funny
It's crazy that Rhaenyra only spoke 4 words in this entire episode, yet you feel every single emotions when you see them on screen. That's great acting.
The Stark's theme song and the crow flying in that scene were just beautiful. The North Remembers!
Helaena's reaction is definitely in character for how she's portrayed. the dreams and visions have an effect on her and aren't quite clear to her. She realizes as it's happening that her rats are here for the prince. Also earlier she's literally sewing her son's shroud without even realizing it, she unconsciously knows death is coming for her child. She can't stop it either otherwise her and her daughter die as well. Phia(helaena) acted out this scene well. The gasp of air when reality has truly set in was incredible.
Cregan Stark is carrying Ice, it is almost as tall as he is.
Didn't the Lannister melted it to made 2 swords and gave one to Joffrey or something like that?🤔
@@MiArcangel
Ice was melted not long after it was used to execute Ned Stark. It was melted into two longswords, one given to Joffrey ( Widow's wail ) and the other to Jaime (Oathkeeper) who then passed it down to Brienne of Tarth
@MiArcangel This show is set 200 years before game of thrones. So ofc Ice is still intact.
I think because of the obssesion to prepare him to rule, I think Aegon found little love in his family. So when he was crowned last season and saw the people react to him when he lifted up the sword, he liked it. And so he loved the love he got from the people and he wants to repay them. He wants that love to continue. He's acting like a sort of young rock star. lol
But he did also loved that boy and now with him dead, I wonder how that will change him.
I remember watching you guys react to the first season of this before game of thrones and I’m so stoked to see you now able to do it full time! Keep going dudes your smashing it 💪🏻

I think daemon also didn’t care which son they have to kill after they asked what if aemond is nowhere to be found coz he got quiet after 🤷🏻♀️ as long as it’s “ a son for a son” so MAYBE he doesn’t give a damn which son, yet again we dont know what is said after they asked what if aemond is nowhere there or maybe they’re just idiots who wants to do an easy kill for money and cant follow a sinple instruction of whom to kill…. this was my reaction 😨🫣 the whole time I was hearing them cut off the head.. I believe in the books they made her watch her kid get killed
They made her and Alicent both watch, and they made the mother pick which one would [end.] She picked the youngest boy to be [ended] because the older boy was the heir, and the younger boy probably wouldn't understand what was happening.
So when she chose, they told the younger boy that his mom wanted him [Unalived] then they did the opposite and [ended] the older boy instead.
It was so good, and Ryan Condal was too stupid to adapt such an easy scene.
lol the raven in the beginning is BRAN!!!!!😂
Great intro guys💀 glad to be back in the saddle!
I consider halaena's autism as a panic or anxiety attack, too scared to scream or shout. This result in talkless without dialogue yet running adrenaline to save the rest.

The squelch sound as the head is being removed … 😵
While dragon and rider are in tune with eachother Syrax likely feels her own pain, more so than sympathy for Rhaenyra.
Remember that Rhaenyra's sons ride dragons hatched from Syrax's eggs. That's the wing of her spawn washed up on the shore.
Aegon impressed me in this episode. He’s actually trying to help his subjects while on the throne.
He is not, he a rapist lmao yall need to seek help
he only car about his reputation but it's not Joffrey yeap, not sur he will keep this mood with his dear young son decapited in his chamber
Yeah except the maid did you catch their reaction ?
He seems like a good guy, Idk why they hate him so much. And he actually cares for his children, unlike Viserys who never gave him attention. But of course, now that his heir's been killed, he's not going to be the same, unfortunately.
I dunno about that, hes making rash decisions without considering the consequences. Every decision he tried to make to help his subjects would directly harm the war efforts. As much as I was happy to see him having some compassion, he should have made compromises.
I saw an incompetent king who's more concerned with his image than managing the kingdom, and isn't considering the grander implications of his decisions. The way that they hinted at changing his hand (saying he should appear differently to Vicerys, starting by changing his advisor, likely to Lorys) suggested to me that they plan to manipulate him in that way, because he doesn't know what hes doing.
Omg my heart started racing due to excitement when I saw u guys uploaded this reaction hahahaha 😂 Syrax cried too because ARRAX AND VERMAX are her children 😢 and yes that’s viserys statue

Helena is a dragon dreamer, also they were threatening her she had to make a choice or they would murder them all. As the scene goes she is dissociating from what is happening. I think it's perfect behaviour for the way they have developed Helena in the show. People mention it being different in the book, but we don't know which way they go with it.
20:05 its believed syrax is arraxs mother, so syrax is mourning the loss of her son too :(
Ya it was silly for GoT to introduce scorpions (the giant arrows that they shoot at dragons) as if they’re new. Literally Aegon the Conquerer’s sister wife was shot down by one even longer before HotD
To be afir it was what...150 years since there had been any dragons in GOT, so 150 years since they had any need to make any scorpions.
I agree. This seems like helaena was clearly in a trance or just severe shock. And make a quick decision
It was a great episode, but the last scene was toned down a bit in comparison to the book.
In the book, Helaena has to choose between her two sons, not her daughter, and she chooses her younger son. Then the assassins say to the younger son "see, kid? Your mommy wants you to die."
And then he chops off the head of the older boy in a single stroke, leaving Helaena to live with the knowledge that she condemned her remaining son to death. It's extremely messed up and there is a bit of controversy in the fandom now if the show missed an opportunity here to create a truly terrifying, Red Wedding level scene.
I agree with you and I genuinely wished that scene could have been a little more violent, but you cant blame them either you can't show that much violence in tv nowadays considering all the woke and cancel culture and I'm pretty sure HBO somehow intervened and toned down the scene to avoid any backlash.
It was a genuinely a good opener.
True, but I think the sounds of the slow sawing is so much more intense than a surprising head chop.
There is only so much they can do with actors that young on TV.
@@adins5725 I have no problem with the scene not being graphic as I didn't expect it to be, Hollywood never shows violence against younglings. And you can achieve the same impact without showing it directly.
It's more that the dramatic moment of Helaena being forced to choose, having to condemn one of her sons to death, and then seeing the other one killed, adds an extra dimension to how shocking the whole scene is. The scene was good, but it could have been great.
In the book, this final scene is even worst !
[spoil this same event from the book]

In the book, Blood & Cheese captured Alicent AND Helaena. Queen Helaena have 2 sons and 1 Daughter.
The killer command Haleana to choose witch boy they must kill. Queen Heleana say "take me, kill me and leave my son". But blood answer : "A son for a son he say, you are not a son. Answer me now or I will kill all child and rape the daughter."
Helaena, totally broken, pointed out his younger boy Maelor. Blood say to the kid : "See ? Your mother want you to die..." and he kill the older boy, Jaehaerys, and take his head, but leave all other.
It is so weird to think you guys watched all of game of thrones in between the first season and this one. When that stark theme played at the start of this episode 🥲
I'm so happy for Spartan that the show opens with Lord Stark after pudgy throwing shade on his shirt!
Alicent isn't really pleased when she is told the workers have been disposed of. She was nervous because he was implying she knows what she is up to and has people spying on her and her family.
I’ve been rewatching y’all’s GOT’s reaction again because they were to good. Y’all’s enjoyment of the show and the competitive nature y’all have to show one another up, is why I enjoy y’all’s reactions so much. Looking forward to this.
If she didn't point to him... They would've killed both... maybe her too then
I'm not even half way through the introduction and already loving the video, you two are so funny and genuine, so happy HotD is back!!!
normal human reaction is to "not pick any of the kids" but she made the logical choice, the rat catcher was going to kill all 3 if she didnt
I think as far as Halaena’s demeanor during the blood and cheese scene, you could say she did act like she was in a trance. If you were constantly dreaming of the future, how do you know if you’re in the present or future while you’re living thru it? She probably just went thru the motions she’s foreseen and then broke out of it once she grabbed her daughter to get out there.. poor girl living thru these nightmares twice! 😭
The rat catcher clearly said if she didn't point out the boy he'd just kill all 3 of them. As far as her "trance" goes, she seems to always be half in the moment and half in the future, so she seems to be spaced out all the time.
Alyrie Florent is alicent’s mother who died before the start of s1. So alicent is mourning her mother, viserys, and luke.
Did anyone else noticed how she abruptly stopped in one of the hallways midway while escaping with her kid to safety and instead turn a different route and ended up in her mother’s chambers? I wonder if something was in her vision about that as well…. Or are we seeing the three eyed raven somehow is this series as well?
from the start there were hints that helaena is neurodivergent and/or autistic. so her reaction makes complete sense. the way she disassociated in that very serious moment. also given the fact that she is also a dreamer which must make it more difficult to differentiate her visions from reality adding more complexity to the situation. i feel for her big time and i actually like the changes made from the fire and blood lore.
Shes not autistic stupid.
Starting the show with the Stark theme music was iconic
Pudgey dying laughing in the intro was the freaking cutestest thing ever, so charming

About being on a team, both teams are horrible. For the regular people there is no reason to care about a spoiled rich girl and a spoiled rich boy fighting over a chair, they just want to survive. Right now, they would probably prefer the greens because so far, all they got from team black was a dragon bursting through the floor and killing dozens of innocents, while Aegon is gaining popularity by being generous to his subjects and giving them relief when they ask.

*they
These reactors are more sharp and easy to understand thats why I love them.
We're all here again, same crowd from season 1 and Game Of Thrones 🎉 the next few weeks are gonna be mega. Nice reaction guys ❤
❤❤🎉🥳
in the books Joffrey, the youngest son wanted revenge and it was a son for a son not going for Aemond
Heleana actually pics her youngest son there but they kill the oldest on purpose so the youngest can live with the thought that his mother gave him up, but here she doesn't have a 3rd child
I found it interesting how Larys now stands tall and looks down on Alicent, forcing her to look up at him. Meanwhile, he is hunched over and feeble while talking to Aegon.
Alerie Florent - the first candle Alicent lights was her mother. This is the first we ever hear anything about her mother.
Nope. This might be the first we hear her name, but her death is addressed a few times in season one.
Sure buddy
Bruh, the first thing Spartan said after the episode was pretty much "Phew, I'm pleasantly surprised that they were able to not get caught, thank god they killed that innocent toddler." lmao!
Right! I know you're team black but fuck man
f them kids, they're irrelevant 😂
Heleana is a dreamer/greenseer. She has very real like dreams that predict future events but when she awakens she only remembers parts. This is why she pretty much speaks in riddles.
Heleana seemed like she was in a trance during that final scene because she legit doesn’t know if she’s dreaming or awake.
Alerie Florent was Alicent's mother. That's who the first candle was for
Just a small little tidbit. That scene when Rhaenyra first finds Arraxs' wing and Lukes cloak, it's a bit deeper than you think. Yes Rhaenyra is grieving her son, but Syrax is Arraxs' mother, so she is grieving as well.
Great start to the season!!!! Emma D’Arcy was amazing and they only had one line of dialogue. 👏
She
She
I hope you know that Rhaenys didn't actually mean "Then I pity Aemond". They just talking about 2v1 against Vhagar.
Arax was Syrax's baby so she not only felt Rhaenera's grief but her own as well.
That was not 1 but 2 mothers finding the remains of their child and grieving over their loss 😔.
black all the way! and pudgey your buildup had potential girl ✋
TG because I find their characters more interesting. Do not care for being more noble, especially in GOT/HOTD when every character do some questionable things.
Syrax was grieving just as much as Rhaenyra in that scene, she too had lost a child being the mother of Arrax (Luke's dragon).
Pudgey just constantly giggling was simultaneously hilarious and frustrating. You got some patience on you Spartan. :D
A son for a son. I'm so excited for this season !!
Team green because even though they are snakes it makes more interesting deep characters
It feels like you’ve come full circle. I started watching your channel when you were watching HOTD and I’m so excited we get to experience it with you.
Love that! we're glad we can share it with you 😊
I am so glad they painted the greens (Aegon) as kind of decent (loving his son i.e. see his interaction with him at the small council) and at Court as opposed to portraying him as a Joffrey like ruler. It makes him grounded and it makes our support for black or greens not so straight forward
B&Ch is not even half as dark as in books
Making her choose between her sons and then doing the opposite is far darker and more impactful on her. As well as then telling the kid that his mother wanted him dead. So dark.
All of the reactions to Blood and Cheese are 100% predictable 😂 Those who have not read the book are in disbelief that the show went that far. The book readers are extremely underwhelmed because it could have been so much more diabolical.
Yeah, in the book it's much more brutal, almost Red Wedding levels of shocking. They really adapted that part poorly in the show, and once again tried to make the Blacks more sympathetic so we would see them as the "good guys". Blood and Cheese were not sent to kill Aemond in the book.
@@Rocket1377In the book all we know is that Daemon sent a raven to Rhaenyra to tell her her son would be avenged it could have been sent for Aemond but just played out differently just like in the show the book is written like a history book not an actual book so we dont really know what really happened because its written from the perspective of mushroom and other maesters.
And Ryan Condal was too stupid to figure outbhow to adapt such an easy scene. He's D&D level trash.
@@user-np4gr2je2q Precisely. Thank you for keeping a level head and an objective mind. So many ravenous fans looking to nitpick out the gates and its beyond irritating.
@@user-np4gr2je2q It seems unlikely that he expected two peasants to kill Aemond Targaryen.
Criston Cole was on duty that night. Otto hightower said it. he and allicent are complicit in their negligence. Allicent lost her grandson and an heir to the throne.
If the mother hadn't pointed out the one kid "the rats" surely would have killed both kids in order to make sure that they'd gotten the boy. And then she would have lost both of her kids and not just the one. She tried to trick them, it just didn't work.
Lets the games begin 😒🤯🫣
Love how no one actually says that Daemon is a monster (and the sneakiest of snake in that episode). Guy order two random to behead a child in his cradle and i guess thats... Alright? Yeah, team Black! (yes I'm team green.). Great reaction as usual guys o/
Its war and the greens struck first by usurping Rhaenyra and killing Luke Daemon's revenge even though its horrible the greens had it coming all i can say is Karma.
@user-np4gr2je2q You're a horrible human being and daemon is a sneaky snake. Sneakiest of all snakes is daemon.
I mean he ordered them to kill him, not specifically behead them. Out of curioristy - what do you think Otto or Cole would do with their enemies children? I think you'll find most of the Greens would do the same in the situation. Which is kind of, you know, the whole point of both sides being horrible
Nobody calls daemon a monster because everyone is well aware of what type of person he is , they were supposed to kill aemond not jeaharys so no , you revealing your team green automatic discredits your argument as your clearly biased .
Because Daemon is awesome, and those kids were green. They were never destined to see adulthood once their family decided to steal the throne.
The theory is that Aegon II grew up unloved by his dad & a disappointment to his mum. But when he crowned, the people cheered. He wants to retain their love, so he makes populist decisions.
