My experience with modern BMW 4 cylinder turbos is they are extremely fun around town, but ultimately lose steam on the top end causing them to get beat by bigger motors. The newer b46/48 engines are quite nice.
Great video and channel. First time here and it was fun to watch because I have an f30 330 xdrive with some mods - Dinan exhaust, intake, coil overs, charge pipe, and stage 2 EMS from RaceChip. And I can confirm that the 330 can indeed take a 5.7 Charger 😀👍

@@mys2knotyours The Accord lost to the 330i in Sport mode and that’s the only mode that matters. Comfort mode in a 330i is designed for maximum comfort, not drag racing.
if you own a bmw (f30) at least then you know that if you put it in sport then turn traction off it’s no longer in sport. use SPORT+ if you want traction off and put the (ZF8) transmission into manual for no delayed shifts and you’re gapping that rt buddy trust me. you can also get bm3 stage 1 without any mods but that’s another story 😮💨
I was thinking the same. I have a 330 that’s currently on stage 2 and if I run e30 I can keep up with scats. So I’d say the bmw is the better choice just because you can tune the bmw to much higher power.
bmw always come stock very underpowered for some reason, they always tune them down. @jayson on my F22 M235i when i turn traction completely off it goes into sport automatically, also with the Bm3 ZF8 transmission flash, it turns the car into a different monster lol
The rwd 330i gaps scats in the top end, still launches better than them, no idea why hes comparing the xdrive to the charger, theres no snow or rain, and the rwd version is faster
I can see many dodge enthusiasts here. For me I wanted to see if the base 330i all wheel drive was as fast as the charger r/t. What I saw was two daily drivers battling it out. One gets over 40mpg ( tested through a youtuber ) highway and the other gets 25 ( I havent seen any videos of highway fuel tests for the charger r/t. Im considering both of these cars for future purchase. For me it seems like the newer bmws have really come a long way in terms of reliability with these newer motors ; The ( b48 motor ) 330i, and the scat pack equivalent ( b58 motor ) the m340i. Im not a bmw enthusiast or a mopar enthusiast, but I do own an 05 Ram Hemi truck, and for the most part it runs just fine except a weird intermittent turn signal light failure and the 12mpg. All in all dodge seems like a solid choice if mpg is not an issue, but bmw might be good too.

B48 with updated high pressure fuel pump can do 350hp on stock internals and 450hp with upgraded turbo while still getting 32mpg hwy. Reason is the closed deck block design and forged components. Ignition system is pretty robust too.
I drive a 19’ cooper jcw, with all bmw’s the mapping and tuning difference between comfort, normal, and sport is large. Sport mode makes all the difference
@DJ yup they're pricey to build but plenty people pushing 700+ to the wheels costs money though. But plenty people doing it. Bolt ons and a supercharger your pushing way past a scatpack and closer to a hellcat on these motors.

Love seeing these runs with the RT....but could you do some cars in the same weight class? For its weight I think the RT has good everyday power. But it's constantly being compared to way lighter/smaller cars.
The curb weight is about 1000 lb difference, which in general (I'm talking very generally..) 100 lbs is about 10hp. Think the cars were pretty evenly matched up. charger makes a ton more torque in the low end so its mucj harder to get it to launch right. I'm assuming the stock 245s were on there but with 295s or a 305 would walk this bmw even with the perfect awd launch.
Just curious if the Charger is being run in sport mode when the the opposing car is running in sport mode. Also the same about launch control. The 8 speed Hemis have a pretty distinctive “pop” when shifting while in sport mode, and I’m not hearing that. I read a comment on the Kia K5 video that said something along the lines of the charger’s exhaust sounding like it was modified. That is actually stock exhaust. In my opinion, the 2015+ 7th gen Hemi Mopars have some of the best sounding stock exhaust of all time. I would also like to know the elevation at which these runs are taking place. Unfortunately, elevation make a huge difference on the way NA cars run. Yet it makes a lot less difference on the way forced induction cars run. On paper, at sea level, the Charger should be 3/10 quicker in the 1/4 mile. I am a huge Mopar fan and drive a 2019 5.7 Daytona myself. Yet I still think it’s amazing what these low displacement, turbo cars can do nowadays. I was actually looking into a Stinger GT before I bought my Charger, it it’s hard to beat that nasty rumble of that Hemi! And from what I understand, these cars have a major de-tune from the factory. I’ve heard that with a good dyno tune, you can unlock something like an additional 50 some odd HP. I hope that’s the case as I plan on throwing some goodies and a dyno tune at her real soon!

I have a tune on mine and it wakes the car up tremendously. It keeps going strong to where stock usually falls flat on its face in a race on the factory tune. @@wenruigao3862 if you have the option between a 330 and an M340I.. why would you not go for the m340. if you don't want loud and powerful, get a 320... hell even my 230 is loud and powerful nd the thing is stock, mainly it depends on what you intend to do with the car. do you value speed over handling and fun?(handling wouldn't decrease by a lot, mostly just more weight in the front end) m340. if you want a great all arounder, get a car with the 30i engine. I rlly like it. lol I'll be downshifting coming to a stop and I hear burbles and crackles from a stock b46 engine... the n20s could never.
U made a mistake about launching the BMW. In order to engage launch control, first u need to drive the car for 10 minutes uninterrupted. Then put the car in sport+ and gearbox to S mode. Then left foot and the break right foot on the gas gently and just before take off u should push the gas to the max and “kick it down”. Anything other than this is not launch control.
For the part about Mercedes underrated their cars, ive heard that a few of the German companies like Mercedes and BMW, actually use their wheel horsepower numbers as their ratings. So the 255hp in the BMW is actually closer to 300hp at the crank.
@@xxsonsxx30 exactly. I have a 372hp challenger and a 240hp monte carlo. A 255hp BMW should be only a little quicker than my monte and not be almost able to hang with the challenger. But more often than not, they blow my monte away.
@danoff__ BMW and Mercedes have been known to use their wheel numbers as their crank numbers for awhile. If you look at bmws and look at cars with similar weight and hp ratings, the bmws win. And I remember seeing a dyno somewhere of a stock bmw getting near the crank rating at the wheels. Many companies did this in the 60s also, or st least underrated them, same with the 98-02 LS1 camaro and firebird. They rated them at 305hp but they dynoed at like 295 at the wheels.
5.7s are very restricted from factory. Just a cam, headers, 3.09 gears, intake and youre looking at atleast a 100hp gain. Really wakes these engines up

And with a knowledgeable tuning shop, they can make it happen pretty quickly, but the word “just” seems to downplay how much of a change this actual is.
I bought a hellcat challenger in January as a daily. It had 12miles, now it has 11.000 miles!!! The hellcat is truly the most fun vehicle I have ever owned! Love it
Bmw's always make the most of the power that they has. 330Ci'04 has 3.0 straight six, only 231HP and 6,5s to 100kmph. 25s to 200kmph. This is outstanding performance.

R/T is a platform you have to build. The 5.7 does really good with mods. Way better then the scatpack

Hi Sam，I got my probationary license last year September 2023，when I get my basic license this year 2024，I either afford myself this type of BMW 330i xdrive vs Dodge Charger 5.7 Hemi，M340i xdrive is too loud so I don't get M340i.

@@wenruigao3862 if you have the option between a 330 and an M340I.. why would you not go for the m340. if you don't want loud and powerful, get a 320... hell even my 230 is loud and powerful nd the thing is stock, mainly it depends on what you intend to do with the car. do you value speed over handling and fun?(handling wouldn't decrease by a lot, mostly just more weight in the front end) m340. if you want a great all arounder, get a car with the 30i engine. I rlly like it. lol I'll be downshifting coming to a stop and I hear burbles and crackles from a stock b46 engine... the n20s could never.
U made a mistake about launching the BMW.
In order to engage launch control, first u need to drive the car for 10 minutes uninterrupted. Then put the car in sport+ and gearbox to S mode. Then left foot and the break right foot on the gas gently and just before take off u should push the gas to the max and “kick it down”. Anything other than this is not launch control.

For the part about Mercedes underrated their cars, ive heard that a few of the German companies like Mercedes and BMW, actually use their wheel horsepower numbers as their ratings. So the 255hp in the BMW is actually closer to 300hp at the crank.

@@xxsonsxx30 exactly. I have a 372hp challenger and a 240hp monte carlo. A 255hp BMW should be only a little quicker than my monte and not be almost able to hang with the challenger. But more often than not, they blow my monte away.
Nope stock its 255hp on the crank not wheels, stage 1 it gets to 310hp on the crank and then most likely will beat the rt
@danoff__ BMW and Mercedes have been known to use their wheel numbers as their crank numbers for awhile. If you look at bmws and look at cars with similar weight and hp ratings, the bmws win. And I remember seeing a dyno somewhere of a stock bmw getting near the crank rating at the wheels. Many companies did this in the 60s also, or st least underrated them, same with the 98-02 LS1 camaro and firebird. They rated them at 305hp but they dynoed at like 295 at the wheels.
Why don't you use the BMW 235i gran coupe which has the same 2 litre turbo but around 300hp and more torque?

5.7s are very restricted from factory. Just a cam, headers, 3.09 gears, intake and youre looking at atleast a 100hp gain. Really wakes these engines up
I agree with your statement in that they are restricted from factory. But “just” a cam, headers, and new rear end gearing? I get it, trust me the same has been said for LS engines for decades. And with a knowledgeable tuning shop, they can make it happen pretty quickly, but the word “just” seems to downplay how much of a change this actual is.
