I am convinced that Fig is Mary's pet donkey and that she loves him more than she dotes on Joseph. I do have a quick question: Is Fig by per any chance named after the baby from the 1998 family/musical/kids movie, Barney's Great Adventure: The Movie? Because let me tell you, I have seen that movie when I was little (and the movie came out before I was in my mom's tum-tum) many times and now every time I look at Fig the donkey, I am reminded of the baby from the old Barney movie
