Everyone here is dissing Kirby's commentary, but if you have any interest at all in learning how to speedrun Metroid Prime 1 or 2, or exploit these glitches, you'll realize that it's actually really helpful. Who cares if he talks a lot. Most of what he says directly applies to the tricks that Miles is doing.

It’s really fun to use these speedrun glitches in casual playthroughs. Like the space jump early in Prime 1
I know this is late but KirbyMastah has practically been around the community since the beginning of Prime speedrunning. His advice isn't to be discarded. Yeah he talks but it's all relevant.

Hell, I'm surprised you even remember that. I haven't played the game in years and the only thing I remember was Samus' first encounter with the Ing. Everything else is a blur.

Not at all. I, too, wonder why people scoff at the commentary. I find it both informative and helpful, in most cases. I even picked up some tricks from Miles for prime 1!
Would be nice if the commentary wasn't so dry.

I think the Metroid Prime series may be the best games for speedrunning, along with oldschool Doom and some Mario games.
But ist also one of the hardest to learn:D
Better then the 2D Metroid games? They pratically invented speedrun.
New doom is fun to see run too. Byteme did a 100% doom 2016 speedrun at gdq years ago and everybody loved it.

Yeah I’d say tedious is the proper way to describe it. I feel like the amount of backtracking in MP 1 is perfectly paced with the overall game progression. In MP2 every single aspect requires backtracking just by virtue of including light/dark aethers. By the time you get to the sky temple it is quite overwhelming, even on repeat playing, and a lot of it is not particularly intuitive. You have to beat the game like 5 times in a short period to get a feel for what you need to do without stopping to plan it out
I just got my 6 hours and 21 minutes! dreading to try again coz now I get stressed to try to be faster when i play :D hope you improved in the 5 years since too!
Ah MP2, the only game wehre I went for 100% completion but for the life of me could not achieve it. I got everything, but I missed one missile expansion, and that 99% on my save file still haunts me to this day. I guess I'll make amends with my past self by seeing someone destroy this game.

i find it hilarious how people call cheats... i don't see a gameshark or action replay. just game mechanics used creatively.
Glitchs aren't game mechanics, their breaks in the game mechanics. This is why people say they are cheats. They're basically a speedrunner's version of steroids.
except sports don't have "Steroid allowed" events. unlike speedrunning which has Glitchless% and any%
The glitches ARE part of the game, there's no mistakes, only happy accidents
Glitches aren't cheats. They're just the developers failing to cover unexpected gameplay. The player obeyed all the rules of the game. The rules just had holes in them.
Love this game. One of the best hands down. Nice job guys hope the charity was overflowing.
Even though the Trilogy edition removed most of the tricks (not all thought), Id like to see how a speedrun of those versions look like.

+pokefan548 A speedrun would have a route specifically made for the game changed. Ive never had any problems with aiming or batteries with Trilogy.

I'm glad in this game, you can actually do the somersault while in mid-air, because in Metroid Prime, Samus Aran doesn't do that at all during gameplay; only in cutscenes. 😢

Every room in this game is like "You're supposed to do ... ... but we're going to skip that."

For some reason, Kirbymastah says "For some reason" 4 times throughout the run, which is an average of once every 37 minutes and 48.5 seconds.
At 2:19:41 Kirbymastah says "You need Screw Attack to pretty much do anything. And you need Light and Dark Beam to also basically do anything or to go anywhere basically.".

At 1:26:41 they mention a room that softlocks the game. I've done that SOO many times. Super awful stuff.
+xerusateme111 I got stuck in that room for a different reason. After beating Dark Samus, there's a portal you have to activate and go through to advance. Problem is, I was usually out of dark ammo after the fight, and had no idea you could charge the beam even without ammo. I genuinely thought there was no way out, and reset my console a good 2-3 times because of that.
I am not a smart man.

With all this "It's harder than it looks", "getting where you're not supposed to be", and "obnoxious", I really wanna see Kirbymastah commentate himself having sex.
I actually noticed something in my first play through of this game about the ammo, I did't know you could charge it to shoot a normal shot, so I was in a tunnel shaped room in torvos where the only doors where both light beam doors and I was out of ammo and the game just spawned in a light beam ammo item cuz i sat there for like 30 seconds. So in that case I could have just charged my shot but the game kind of idiot proofed itself. Not sure if that is only in the trilogy edition tho.

Wait so the final missile count is 255, but at the beginning he got one expansion twice? How does that work?
Rundas C final count is 255, which includes the initial missile launcher (5), 49 missile expansions (49×5=245) and acquiring the Seeker launcher (5). Despite having doubled up the initial missile launcher, the counter does not allow the maximum to exceed 255, meaning that the last missile expansion purely contributes to completion percentage.

Victor Aguirre it's a reference to Super Metroid speed run by SGDQ. People donate money to see either the animals are saved at the end of the game or to let them die at the end of the game.

Not in echoes. Most metroid games including the primes are 100% item collection. Fml. 100% scans would drive me insane.

+FlareShift They're numbering everything into parts and adding run start times. I think it's just to make it easier for them to make a chronological play list of the whole event.
+TheCheshireLion They are also adding filters and enhancing the sound where/when it is needed.
+FlareShift In addition to what TheChesireLion and Bradley Bourret said, there were several streams that had an audio corruption issue during their initial upload to CZcams. Several reuploads were necessary because the audio was terrible.
