This brings back memories of when I was a young boy raised on a farm. I used a Ford 8N all the time...practically lived on it for many years. It was Blue! Me and another guy rebuilt the engine, and it purred like a kitten!

It's so amazing to see old machinery in such mint condition. Idk why but here in australia when I was growing up everyone had old machinery scattered throughout there property basically just left to rust. Even the ones they still used were never in mint condition like all of your machinery it's so unreal hahaha. It's amazing what a nice coat of paint can do

Good Job Done Well... That's great.
I'm always making stuff, and the three point hitch is the easiest thing to make attachments for.
My latest project was mounting a Backhoe from a Trencher making it a three point hitch backhoe to go on any tractor with a TPH.. the possibilities are endless..
    Thanks for Posting the video.

I like it. It looks like it has a lot more things you can do with it than some other videos I've seen that try to build some home made device. It's seems way more versatile for relatively inexpensive cost in a homestead environment. Hauling firewood, hay, or brush in the trailer and lifting logs with the forks to cut them or move them. Awesome. I watched a video of a guy who built a three point hauler made with a steel frame and a open wooden box that was in my opinion inefficient use of the tractor.

    Very good job, great work,
One thing to monitor, if you are going down hill with a trailer, the trailer can push you forward and raise the lift arms up,
Sometimes this action can damage the internal works of the lift cylinder,

Nicely built well thought out setup... The only bad thing I see only applies to those of us in hilly terrains is where the forks could slide easily side to side allowing the loads to shift, but only on hills or slopes. You could maybe do something on the backside to add a spring latch of some kind?

Excellent build. My first tractor didn't have a front loader and I used a set of hay forks the same way to move all kinds of stuff on pallets, move logs, hay, etc. Yours is more versatile than fixed hay forks + putting that receiver tube on it is handy. I assume you got an actual set of forks to use...lot of people don't know they are a special high strength steel....you can't just make them up out of flat bar or tubing.

Excellent work on the forklift attachment! However, I noticed that the PTO was always spinning and was not shielded or covered. Please put some kind of PTO guard on that tractor. I had the brother of a sister-in-law get caught up in one and what was left of his body they buried in a closed casket! I have an idea, use that PTO for a small hydraulic pump that can be used to run a hydraulic top link so you can tilt the forks. That should/could cover the PTO and put it to use at the same time.
Or, cut a cylinder from a section of pipe and cap one end and drill a hole in that cap. Then drill and tap the end of the PTO shaft and you could bolt the capped cylinder over the splines of the shaft so you would have a smooth surface to make it harder to get things caught in the PTO.

    • @alanswanson1952

man I love the 8n. It is one of the most beloved tractors of all times. if you put 500 pounds on the forks does the steering get light. This way everybody gets more subscribers. Thanks Ray

THAT is a NEAT rig, pal! The first thing I saw was the ball hitch receiver. HANDY! VERY well made. You're showing your handiness again! MY electricianer buddy decided his dream heating setup wasn't going to work like he thought. He said he could pull it with a #12 wire, but he also found out he needed 3 units so he's going back with wood. He came to get the splitter with a 2 1/2 inch ball. Went back home and got a 2 inch. The splitter hitch was 1 7/8ths and he'd loaned all his out. I had a spare hitch so he went to the store and got a 1 7/8ths ball which I put on and I sent him and the splitter on his way. I'd rather tote wood than look at the power bill too. Happy weekend, Buddy and Memorable Day.

You did a FINE job and I lay odds it comes in handy all the time. The 8-N runs better than any Swiss watch I've ever been around. I know everybody wants a diesel but for the money I'd just as soon have a gas job. Even though I'm diesel powered I still am eager to hear a good gas engine ticking along. Yessir, tomorrow is a special day all right. Juan Browne did a good memorial on his channel about the ones that have already gone on. I think of all who came so close and can't forget about it. May God Almighty help them.

Squatch... Noticing that tow hitch you welded onto the forks frame. Careful pulling anything with that when the hitch is above the height of the rear axle. That machine obviously has no ROPS. The draw load must be equal or below the axle height. With enough forward energy it could pull the machine over front to back. There's a ton online about drawbar location safety. Just something to consider if you're pulling heavy loads. Don't mean to sound like a safety nanny.
