- Life Hack for Packing, Shipping & Space Saving: Shrink a blanket, cushion, or anything to fit easily into a suitcase, packing or shipping box. Make moving easy by shrinking bulky items like blankets, towels, linens, and even clothes in a plastic bag. Today I show you how you can easily shrink items with your vacuum cleaner and a plastic bag. Make shipping bulky gifts or packages a no-brainer. If you make pillows or cushion forms this is also a great way to get your big stuffing form or foam form into that small space you left open, with some practice you can slide in your stuffing and work the bag out without tearing the bag so you can reuse it. Tell me in the comments if you have done this or if you tried it!!

This is awesome! Thanks😃
I am planning to travel and I was wondering how to put a comforter in my barrel. I hope watching your video will help me. Thank you so much.
Thank you! I just bought 15 individual bags but from a discount store so I saved money from the regular retail stores. Now I know for the future. Again thanks!
I got a 2 for 1 in this video.... RELEASABLE Zip Ties!?!?! I never knew they existed! I'm so happy to find that out. I'm ordering on Amazon right now. It's 4:30 in the morning, couldn't sleep and thought about how many decorative pillows I just stored in my shed and how much room they take up (I like to change my colors throughout the seasons) and wondered if dollar store has any more of the vacuum seal clothes bags, although they are small. Then I wondered if I could do it myself with the very large zip lock bags 2'x 1.5' I have and you are the first video I came to. I doubt other videos would've told me about RELEASABLE Zip Ties. Thank you!!! I'll be looking at your channel for more tips - after putting in my order!
Good hack idea especially for travel purpose

This is what I was looking for. I made a blanket for my nana and it's MASSIVE and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for cubic shipping lol
I am so glad it was helpful!
You are fast! I didn’t even see you take the hose out.
I’ve been trying to shrink wrap blanket, papers for stuffing cracks in packed boxes, and pads for diaper changes to no avail.
I will be definitely trying this!! Thank you!!!
I've had lots of practice 😄

That's amazing! I've been fight with boxes all day trying to fit my boyfriend blanket I made him into a box but I think with that method I might be able to fit it in a smaller box thank you so much
So glad the helped!
Love my sister Geri tips 💜
This one is a goodie!!!😁
@@AllPurposeMom Definately Iam doing this tomorrow for sure thank you 💜
THANK YOU< THANK YOU ,THANK YOU!!!!!
You are so welcome!
I bought X-large heavy duty bags and I got the same results. Because I had a long bag, I twisted the ends into a U shape to minimize air loss and tied it with 2 rubberbands. Unfortunately, after 1 day, the bags lost between 30% and 50% of the vacuum so either these brand name bags are not sealed well enough or tying the bag with rubberbands or I suspect zip ties does not work. This is not a long term solution for me.
This is what I was thinking to do 😅 but didn’t know we can vacuum woolen blankets n clothes too
Hello, thank you for this amazing hack. I am wondering if this works for a cotton filled duvet as well? Don't want to try and end up damaging my duvet
It will be fine!!
Those blankets are beautiful do you crochet them yourself?
Not me 😁, my mom. She made one for all 6 of her grandchildren over the course of a year for their Christmas gift in 2018. That's why we were shrinking them, she had so many to hide! Thank you for watching!
I love you it’s my first time moving away from home and how long does it stay down for I was getting those shrink bags and idk can you let me know?
It lasts for some time!
@@AllPurposeMom Thank you! I appreciate the response! You're doing awesome. I love you!
@@calista910 you are so very welcome and many blessing for your big move!!
Great tips…didn’t realize you can use garbage bags instead of buying storage bags separately!
Yes, we did it for years 🙌🏼
Shrink yarn down for shipping 😃
Do you know if this would still work if you wanted to take a comforter in a luggage? Would the pressure in the airplane cause it to expand again and to open up??
It for sure works I brought a huge thick afghan that I shrunk in my suitcase once no problems. Funny thing is it feels heavy in its shrunk state.
@@AllPurposeMom Thanks I really appreciate the response.
I can do this without a vaccum. I literally just squish the air out of pillows, lay on them. It’s faster than pulling out the vaccum.
Sounds like a plan Joe, for sure make a video of this and send it to me!
How long does the vacuum seal last? For seasonal storage ?
At least that, these blankets were sealed for about 6 months beyond that I can't say for sure.
Hi very nice idea. Now that plastic is banned can this be done with Cloth bag. What do u think
No I dont think cloth would work.
Thank you
Can this work out for duvets?
Yes as long as you can get it in a big bag.
Do you have to use a zip tie or can you just tie it?
If you tie you won't get I tight enough to hold the air out for very long. The zip tie really cinches the bag to itself well.
How long does the shrinking last before the bag fills with air.
I won't say forever but I'll say quite awhile. It all depends on the cinch when it's closed.
Hi, is there a alternative to zip ties?
I mean maybe a shoe lace tied very tightly, something stronger than tying it to itself, so the alternative has to be very tight to prevent any air getting in..
Heavy duty packing tape.
can this shrink weighted blankets?
Now that's one I'm not sure, but you should definitely try and let us know. I think it would shrink to surround the mass that comprises the weighted fill depending on what that is...
I really wanted to bring weighted blanket in my trip (job relocation) as I know how much I will miss my family
Can u do it with a hair dryer😅
No lol but any kind of vacuum could work.
@@AllPurposeMom okay just bc i am off on resdintal and need to be able to pack it back in lol
Shut the front door!😮
Bruh! You expect us to have a vacuum cleaner in hand!😡💀
Thank you so much
