The technique Rahat sir is using is "Alap" which is common in Pakistani/Hindustani classical music.
That's not Alaap that's call Taan.
Its just Hindustani classical music
Rahat is a legend this is nothing and if u love mominas voice u will love tera woh pyar with momina and asim azhar coke studio it's such a beautiful love song

Rahat sir is amazing. He has been trained by his uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who was a legend and you should listen to him as well. He started training as a kid. Another fun fact I found about them is he is the 17th generation in his family as musicians and his family has been in music for 450 years...more than four centuries that is.....Amazing. Also he is my favorite singer. I saw him live a couple of years ago and was captivated with his singing....
