How to check a Dual Mass Flywheel - Freeplay Angle & Tiltplay with Schaeffler special tool DMF

  • Whether a dual mass flywheel (DMF) needs to be replaced is determined not only by the perfect condition of the friction surface and starter ring gear, but also by the wear condition of the bow springs and the bearing.
    With the help of our tolerance measurement values in the catalog, it is possible to determine the degree of wear specifically for each type of dual mass flywheel. Thus, a clear statement can be made about the necessity of a replacement and the repair can be carried out professionally.
    The video shows the use of the Schaeffler special tool on an installed dual mass flywheel. In doing so, the handling during the measurements of the tilting backlash and the clearance (freeplay) angle is clarified in individual work steps.
