    Great job Sir,
    I have refurbished many of these units myself, mainly U.S. models but also a couple of European as well.
    Some very helpful tips learned here, both electrical and wood / metal restoration tips.
    Thank you so much for sharing your skill

    I use one of these on my face. They sell updated versions. I've used it on tooth infections and varicose veins. Really an amazing thing

      Do you like the updated version better than the vintage version if you have not tried the vintage machine u should in my opinion they are.

    Ahhhh such a wonderfully detailed video and I'd love to see more. I have a couple of Vitalators myself as well as a couple of other brands, one has the controls laid out across the box horizontally rather than vertically as yours is, and the other is a much earlier model with the only adjustment being for the hammer spark gap and is either very high power or it's switched off, no inbetween. An interesting one if you can find one is the German radiostat, it has the spark gap control in the box and the other is a slider on the handset itself

    Great Video - Thanks! I think we’re a little too quick to dispel old technology; I mean, how do we actually 'know' that these things didn’t actually work for anything? People often talk as if these types of things are unique in their failure to deliver of the time, but think of just how many 'gimmicks' are around these days that promise us everything but deliver nothing - probably many more than back then... I never make fun or dismiss old technology; if it wasn’t some for it, there are many things we take for granted today that we wouldn’t have, and life would be a lot harder for it! Wasn't there any asbestos in there? I thought asbestos was found in many old electrical Items? Was probably more dangerous than the Appliance!!

      Manufacturers making extraordinary claims are required to provide extraordinary proof that a product does work. No-one ever ran randomized controlled trials to prove this wasn't pure quackery.

  • @LeViAtHaN2k73
    @LeViAtHaN2k73 Před 2 lety +1

    Really incredible workmanship on the restoration. Too bad you're replacing a superior capacitor with one not suited to this. It's a resonant circuit, and if you're going to fudge the value, it's better to choose a larger value than smaller. Too much current with the smaller value which is why it becomes too powerful which will overheat the coil much faster.

    Are those the thick borosilicate glass electrodes or the thin easy to break ones?

    • @GrantWyness
      @GrantWyness  Před 2 lety

      The glass is most likely Jena glass (borosilicate) - all the good quality violet ray machines utilised the Boron infused glass due to the fact some of the electrodes were for internal use. All the best

    Awesome Video Grant . I have a previously restored old Violetta violet ray which used to work great but recently died on me . When I plug it in I can still hear the fast ' clicking ' noise but the wand itself seems dead , no violet colour or no current on the wand itself . I get a TINY colour when I turn it up full but no current on the glass . Tried a few glass wands , same problem . Do you fix or know someone who does , any idea what may be the problem ? tia.

    • @GrantWyness
      @GrantWyness  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Dan and thanks for your kinds words - The wand coil may have spat a wire - the tiny colour could be from arcing across the damaged connection. Remove the coil and check it over. On a multimeter there should be resistance not an open circuit. The capacitor may well have died, best check that first as dying capacitors short circuit eventually (not good), remember to discharge it before touching👍🏻 The fact that you have fast clicking says the primary coil in the box is still working. All the best 🍻
