4 of my good friends singing a male vocal quartet version of the song Loch Lomond at a "senior solo" concert at my school. These guys stole the show at the beginning of the concert.
Not ashamed to say I cried listening to this. My grandfather sang this to me all the time when I was little, and these four young men just absolutely blew my mind.
From left to right the names are Justin Howe, Mitchell Lemmon, Leonardo Escobar, and Steven Johnson. We performed this in Elko, Nevada and yes the sound was a little off. We haven't been able to record anything since but we look forward to doing it with higher quality equipment.
Steve I sing tenor with the Mission Valley Choral Society in Northwestern Montana and we're doing the Johnathan Quick? arrangement for an upcoming festival.
Dear quartet singers. superbly done L Lomond, for sure. I am an Alma College vocal singing alum who did, eons ago, sing with their choir. Alma College is a Scotch ancestry school called the Alma Scots. They have kiltie dancers, bagpipers and wonderful choirs. This quartet version is a very similar one that their current choir does. C if you can find it on line...under Alma College. Alma is still the home of the annual Highland Festival each year...May or June???? Thanks, guys---sounds really, really good; keep it up. Hope to maybe see some other songs you do. Wonderful. Makes me home and college-sick.
I very much enjoyed this and cannot find any more of their performances! Who are these guys? Where was this done? Who arranged it? I was nearly brought to tears by the opening solo and the performance got better as it went along. I am imagining how much greater this presentation could have been with better sound equipment. Thank you for posting this gem and please let me know how I can listen to more like it! Bravo! - Chas Wilson, a new fan of yours from Tacoma, Washington, USA
@Orovir You have every right in the world to dislike their arrangement. I only took issue with your statement that they are "supposed to be a fairly professional group." I called your level of respect in to question based on this statement. Whether you liked their performance or not, they are a VERY professional quartet and immensely talented.
some balance issues...tough when you put best in the title haha. bit much in whoever is singing the majority of the 3rd's of the chords, but good job still!
All four of you have lovely voices but you need to listen to each other a bit more. It's all a bit con belto! If you aren't singing the tune at any given point, and you can't hear the tune being sung, you're too loud. You could put in more dynamics too. But on the whole this is a good performance of a challenging arrangement, so well done.
@Orovir Professionalism is not so much a personal preference as you think it is; they sing around the world on shows for money, which of course makes them a professional group by definition! Singing is their job. I don't mind if you don't care about my calling your respect into question, I'm really only continuing this conversation so people who see this video and these comments don't read your original comment and write Realtime off.
@monkeyfarman Ultimately you have to just decide to do what you're going to do even when the jealous and untalented try to drag you down to their level. Cheers to the quartet! Nice mellow sound.
Very impressive, well done. @Orovir "A fairly professional group" ... Realtime are the 2005 International Champions of the Barbershop Harmony Society for a reason. I've heard their rendition of Loch Lomond live and it gives chills. Please learn some respect.
my only complaints are that the bass and baritone were a little too loud, and the vowels could use some work. the four of you have wonderful voices! very nice job!
sorry. i think there is not "THE BEST". its moderate. The intro does not fit! Where is the bass in the first and second part? lead and bari are to dominant. only the third part is in balance. i know, this song is not easy to sing. i think the sound would be better whithout micro.
i agree it was fair but personally i was in a high school choir that didnt even perform this but instead learned it for fun and still it sounded better this version was to choppy and not well arranged
TheErb1999 Very good performance and harmony, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. It is not perfect, but still brilliant! Believe that from an old biddy who still loves that song when it is delivered well.
I will agree with you to the fact that these boys lack the artistic side of this piece but I followed your HD chorus and i can't say that they are much better they have zero blend I had to fight to hear the first tenor part all in all extremely unimpressed Iowa St still have the best in my book.
not to bad. it sounds like its being sung 3 parts. the lack of bass sound and the over powering bari/ lead parts throw off balance. also from singing this song, some of the pronunciations were off. all in all not to bad
need some kind of artistic interpretation in this, it is very static. type this into the search, HD Chorus - Loch Lomond, much better version of this song.
As a Scotsman I quite enjoyed this version, well done lads.
Robert Murray Thanks that means a lot.
Not ashamed to say I cried listening to this. My grandfather sang this to me all the time when I was little, and these four young men just absolutely blew my mind.
For a group of young men so young -- and a creative beginning and confident voices -- I expect to hear more in the FUTURE!!!
Well sung, lads! These are the kinds of songs that keeps a country together.
Very nice job, of a challenging arrangement, especially by a young quartet. I hope each of you are still singing!
Fantastic!!!!
Omg, I've been in love with this song for years, but now even more. Good job guys!
This is great! I love it.
Sounds Great, amazing!

And we were messing around in the beginning so sorry if anyone has an issue with that.
Steve I sing tenor with the Mission Valley Choral Society in Northwestern Montana and we're doing the Johnathan Quick? arrangement for an upcoming festival.
🌹😘👍beautifully done.
Very nice:) one of the best versions of this song. Been trying to see what vid could help for second soprano. Bravo to you all:)
Well done!!!

Marvelous

Awesome beautiful
omg thts so cool it reminds me of the guys in my chior when they sang it :) A+
Good boys
Wow might sound sad but I had a tear in my eye make me so proud to be Scottish well done
I'm no scotsman but I will say a job well done. Go raibh maith agat!
Keep up the good work.
i thought these chord progression were pretty interesting even with the lack of bass. cheers i loved it.
I’ve sung this arrangement before. It’s really fun.
Loch Lomond by Matthew Curtis is the best one by far. Look it up
Wow, baritone much?
Truly, restraint is not that hard
Bass this song is SATB
It’s the Jonathan Quick version
I really like it. I see some negative comments. but regardless I think you were GREAT. Be proud :D

Your post should list the name and location of the school, and the name of the 4 singers. This was awesome !
best version yet
As a Scott and a human well done boys
Jonathan Quick arrangement? And realtime interpretation?
Check out my quintet's version of this song, I believe it is the best ever.

Really good you can hear the bases too much some times

I like the arrangement. the volumes were a little off, but otherwise very good!
better than the lead singer on the BW Mens chorus. surprised!
I think the base was a little too loud but he was nervous, you guys were amazing otherwise!
the basses you cant even hear. its the bari's that are way too loud
If you can't spell the word, "bass" then don't bother commenting.
@monkeyfarman Ultimately you have to just decide to do what you're going to do even when the jealous and untalented try to drag you down to their level.

Lol to say the least! There's no point in the song he should be that loud, but he was the whole time!

Tobias Bob Lol alright there Johannes Brahms, calm down. Although, I guess when you state "the best," you're up for criticism.
and i get the mad at are baritones for being to quite, now i think i will stop
This is good, but if you Google "Loch Lomond - sung by Matthew Curtis" You will find a better version.
best ever, hm? google loch lomond jonathan quick... and make up your own mind
I thought he was a bit too loud...
Cheesy as hell lol
I will agree with you to the fact that these boys lack the artistic side of this piece but I followed your HD chorus and i can't say that they are much better they have zero blend I had to fight to hear the first tenor part all in all extremely unimpressed Iowa St still have the best in my book.
the bass is too loud? I can't even hear the bass
Really good but in my humble opinion the "midle" voices are too loud ....
The pronounciation wasn't that great but other than that it was great. Tak' is pronounced as tahke
@mitchell8808 I rather listen to a baritone who is dead on his part and out of balance then listen to a bari who is completely off his part.
not to bad. it sounds like its being sung 3 parts. the lack of bass sound and the over powering bari/ lead parts throw off balance. also from singing this song, some of the pronunciations were off. all in all not to bad
Thanks for your comment. The arrangement called for some different pronunciations which is why we sang it that way but I appreciate the comment.
need some kind of artistic interpretation in this, it is very static.
type this into the search, HD Chorus - Loch Lomond,
much better version of this song.
Would be nice not to LOOK UP the lyrics.
not balanced lol
Someone please tell the baritone to quit screaming...
Och Rrrrubbish
is not biutifful im sorry
Not the best ever. Definitely not. Good harmony, but way too much baritone. Peter hollens, To name one
that was not good. there is no blend whatsoever. Definitely unimpressed and definitely not the best by far.
I'd like to see you do better
Dalton Bantz channel fixed it. 😏
This is definitely not a good version of this wonderful song - LEAVE IT ALONE PLEASE
