I'm a guy and I don't usually like musicals but I do love this one. Awesome songs and an awesome story. So many feels. I haven't watched this since I was 15 so I desperately need to watch it again. ❤
This movie, I have to say, brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. The world is leaving what really matters behind, it's all about love, self respect, how we refer one to another and how we respect life as it is. I like to think there's more people to think like this in the world and that not everything's lost.
The thing is....She heard that note a full two measures BEFORE she sang that interval. And then (also amazing) when she made the interval it was on pitch and steady...like it was laid on a table. And only after a couple beats in did she even allow for vibrato or any color to take place. I can listen to it again and again and again.... BRAVO!!
Will Always, be grateful for Mike Bramhall teaching us this at Magic Voices. If that leaflet hadnt come through my council house door, when kids was just starting secondary school. I wouldnt be here searching this song time after time and still enjoying it still. ❤
This story goes so much deeper than just this song. It is an important reminding of what we, as a gay community went through. AIDS was a killer, and when you were diagnosed with it, you had better say your goodbyes. We were pushed to the fringe of society at that time, due to bigotry, hatred and misunderstanding, and no one wanted to hear our story. Now, gay men and women are allowed to live out loud and proud because of the stepping stones we laid out for you. Please be thankful (and say a little prayer) to my friends who have passed and allowed you to live the life that you are able to now.
It really was difficult times. Thankfully the world become better. I am not gay but I am very happy for those milestones you achieved! Hope u are having a beautiful life!
When this story is supposed to take place, I graduated from nursing school and my first job before I went into surgery as a specialty, I was assigned the night shift on an AIDS floor in San Francisco. I loved each and every patient. They loved me back because I was the only nurse that walked into the room with a smile on my face. When I had one passing or more than one person each and every night, I had to stop. I was as arriving and departing in ugly crying tears. But I miss my guys, some of the most appreciative people in my life.
I want this song played at my funeral. Celebrate life. That part where they start to dance made me think of how people should be happy. And if someone dies, celebrate the life they had, and the one that they are going to (if you believe in Heaven and that they are going there, or any other afterlife place filled with peace). Sure, you will be sad that they are gone, but be glad that you knew them, and just know that sooner or later, you'll meet again. Think of death like that. Like it's just another part of life, because it is.
Does any notice how Joanne in the very last note , holds the tone and it sounds like she is talking , singing at the end of that amazing note, gosh I love that, I always rewind the last 15 seconds about 10 times :) this movie is amazing. First time I watched this movie I was very young and didn’t understand it but it made me cry. Watching it when I was older? Completely broke me! Beautiful production.

Still one of the most powerful songs and performances in existence
Hearing Detective Green's and Detective Miller's voices are pure ❤
I love this song and think that living a life of love is so important!
I'm a guy and I don't usually like musicals but I do love this one. Awesome songs and an awesome story. So many feels. I haven't watched this since I was 15 so I desperately need to watch it again. ❤
Same.
This movie, I have to say, brings tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. The world is leaving what really matters behind, it's all about love, self respect, how we refer one to another and how we respect life as it is. I like to think there's more people to think like this in the world and that not everything's lost.

~ measure your life, in love 💐
The thing is....She heard that note a full two measures BEFORE she sang that interval. And then (also amazing) when she made the interval it was on pitch and steady...like it was laid on a table. And only after a couple beats in did she even allow for vibrato or any color to take place. I can listen to it again and again and again.... BRAVO!!
Will Always, be grateful for Mike Bramhall teaching us this at Magic Voices. If that leaflet hadnt come through my council house door, when kids was just starting secondary school. I wouldnt be here searching this song time after time and still enjoying it still. ❤
I still remember this movie 🙊😻
Thank you 🙏🏾
💟
When this story is supposed to take place, I graduated from nursing school and my first job before I went into surgery as a specialty, I was assigned the night shift on an AIDS floor in San Francisco. I loved each and every patient. They loved me back because I was the only nurse that walked into the room with a smile on my face. When I had one passing or more than one person each and every night, I had to stop. I was as arriving and departing in ugly crying tears. But I miss my guys, some of the most appreciative people in my life.
God bless you all. ❤
I was trolling the cast of CW's The Flash and I found out that Jesse L. Martin was in Rent, I could not believe it, dude can sing.
Also Grant Gustin is a kick ass broadway singer as well.
solarge knowles dont forget andy meintus aka pied piper plays maruis last 2014 les mis revival
He sang in The Flash too
It was another show he was in on NBC. It was about a Marilyn Monroe musical. I watched the whole thing and forgot the name of it lol
Wasn't he in Law & Order back in the day?
I want this song played at my funeral. Celebrate life. That part where they start to dance made me think of how people should be happy. And if someone dies, celebrate the life they had, and the one that they are going to (if you believe in Heaven and that they are going there, or any other afterlife place filled with peace). Sure, you will be sad that they are gone, but be glad that you knew them, and just know that sooner or later, you'll meet again. Think of death like that. Like it's just another part of life, because it is.
This song makes so sad Bc it reminds that episode of glee where Finn dies😭😭💔💔
I just watched it 😂😂 I just cried so bad🤚🏽😭
I literally cannot watch that episode because I cry my eyes out😭
Dang it I THOUGHT THAT SAME THING
ENTIRE EPISODE, EVERY SINGLE MINUTE ALMOST. THEY REALLY HURT. ACTORS AND CHARACTERS WERE IN PAIN
....every time never fails = this song makes me miss my college friends. Such sweet, deep, and intense memories!
my existence was not ready for that high note and it never will be.
I just saw the play for the first time yesterday, it really was so good.
I remember hearing this lady belt "love" out... 7 years later I still get goosebumps. What a bop!
That high note 👌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😍😍😍
That note from Traci Thoms will forever be my goal to hit. SO amazing
Beautiful memory of your mom. Thank you for sharing.
Tracie was BLOWING them all out of the water with her vocals! Can we pls get a solo version with just her?
This song is about love and friendship, not about whos “Best”
What I love the most about this movie is that almost everyone from the original Broadway cast reprised their roles
The Mimi is different. Rosario Dawson plays Mimi in the movie, but Daphne Rubin-Vega was the original Broadway actress.
That's why I said "almost" :)
Does any notice how Joanne in the very last note , holds the tone and it sounds like she is talking , singing at the end of that amazing note, gosh I love that, I always rewind the last 15 seconds about 10 times :) this movie is amazing. My boyfriend hates RENT , but he took me to the LIVE play, it was AMAZING :)

I'm here "til this day! Til this day!" Honestly... 2020 needs this song right now with all the wars going on. =(
And with Corona =(

every one keeps saying Joe from flash. I must be old or something cause I remember him from law and order and the other lady from cold case
dariceblade666 to all people, his name Jesse L. Martin. And you're right he was in law and order
And mark Anthony Rapp was in Adventures in babaysitting and dazed and confused
It took years before I realized that Anthony was the same guy in Adventures in Babysitting. That was my movie growing up!

this musical is the best I've seen others but this makes me happy and sad but just the right balance of those emotions. those who watched it knows what I'm saying ^.^
This movie wrecks me just hearing the song. So great.
this always manages to remind me of my childhood, growing up in Jersey city. Thank you, John Larson
