I'm a total noob to this. I couldn't make any sense of this stuff 2 weeks ago. I learned very little the first week until I started watching. You are best. Thank you so much. I will be buying a miner and joining your channel very soon😊
sure he meant to say: to have a electrician install L6-30R (R is for Receptical) and purchase a Trip Lite PDU 240 30A with a L6-30P (P is for Plug)
Is there a difference?
@@samborowy2324 Yes the difference is male or female. A plug or receptacle. Electricians normally only install receptacles
Thanks for the longer video, it’s great to see how far the channel come. Keep going Vosk!
Awesome job Vosk, you and the team really did an awesome job on this! This is about as detailed as you can get on the topic while still being somewhat "generic".
While there is some stuff you could have maybe cut to streamline this video and instead used in a more "ASIC specific guide", I think the footage still served a useful purpose in giving the novice viewer a general overview of what it's like to work with ASIC hardware.
Thanks bro! been checking your channel for years and have enjoyed it always! 1st time i am leaving a message though, thanks for everything!
Need to work on your electrical theory. 😬
240 is not necessarily “more efficient” than 120v. Yes it runs at half the amperage for the same wattage when running 240v. The advantage of using 240v is that the wiring can be smaller for the same amount of power, since wire size is directly related to amperage. This means you pay less for the copper. There may also be slightly less voltage drop when running 240v, which may also save a very small amount of power.
Another thing, 30A is not the biggest plug you can put in a home. Oven/range combos, some dryers, welders, and some RV hookups are all 50A. It is a very common plug. 30A is actually seen less I think.
You're forgetting the relationship of heat loss and current. Since heat loss is proportional to the square of the current. Therefore you actually have 4x the heat loss since it takes twice the current... as for voltage drop you would have 1/2 the voltage drop on 240 as you would on 120, with the same power output because voltage drop is based on resistance over a length of wire * current.... takes 4 wires for 120v to provide the same power at 30 Amps as it does for 2 wires to provide in 240.
@@CoolHippy Yes and no… the amount of thermal loss is going to be negligible. Unless your wiring is undersized, the amount of energy lost between 120v and 240v is so low that it’s not really worth mentioning. It also doesn’t take 4 wires for 120v to do the same thing as 240v, that’s not how it works. 🤣
20A 240v is 4800w and would use two 12 gauge wires.
4800W on 120v would be 40 amps and just run two 8 gauge wires. Thats how normal people would do it.
Technically if you wanted to keep it on 12 gauge wire at 120v, you don’t need 4 wires even then. L1 - L2 - N….. 3 wires, that’s all you need. I mean, technically you want ground in there too, so really there ARE 4 wires, but only 3 current carrying.
Awesome video vosk! Thank you! Keep them coming!
Hi mate, total noob here. Fantastic video and simple to understand. thanks for the video, pretty easy.
Looking forward to this video! been following you for a bit now very helpful and educational. Gunna be taking a software dev job soon (2-3 months from now) and investing salary in mining so doing my research now to prepare. Appreciate vids like this!!
Great video. Thanks for helping secure the network.
This looks like a nice challenge! Keep up the good work!
Awesome video bro 👏
the video we've all been waiting for!!!!
Got a question for you since you've been doing this for a little bit. I have a relatively small mining operation, 6 asics. I've been kicking around the idea of selling them during this bullrun when the prices for ASIC go crazy and holding the money until prices come down and using it to upgrade to newer more efficient ASICs. Any thoughts on that strategy? Not sure if it's worth it to forgo mining for months while waiting, but at least i would have a guaranteed profit and hopefully a better setup for the future
Vosk = The 🐐 GOAT! Thanks my dude for all the years of great advice.
Nice video! Thanks!
Great video as always
Off the hook. This video was put together well. Informative and longer than usual. Shout out to the whole voskcoin team. Tails too
Great video 🍺
Vosk man, thx for this epic guide! i talked with DCX so i think i order a couple there and use your link. thx for these kind of videos, it helps a lot for a newbie as i am. the best for you and your family
Hi bro Could u advise me about ur start experience
Thanks. You have some very good content on ASIC deployment. Do you have recommend/install any other ancillary devices, such are your own DNS server or a BTC node?
Great Video!
Thank you
Whatever he said that dude is a fact. Well done buddy 👏👍👏
I know you’re primarily a miner, but I’d be cool for you to revisit airdrop farming 6 months later from the last ones. Especially with ZRO rumors heating up and Tia airdropping 5k to all l2 users who claimed a while ago. Always like watching though
had a crash course video on it a week ago i think, and a starknet update will be finished with editing and published tomorrow! but yeah totally with you, market uptick is going to open airdrop season floodgates and.. I'm here for it!! lol
Airdrop farming is almost as fun as mining when I did it back in the day. Everything’s too noisy nowadays since GPU mining went extinct. I had some Z9 minis a few years ago and my wife was about to strangle me because of the noise of those little things 😂
In Germany we have 230v. Would a miner with 3400w work?
I would be very interested in mire detailed description how miners can be repaired in imerse setup and if I can buy some special miners for imerse solution (e.g. without fans ...)
Will you need a pc if you want to buy one and use it
how important is the internet connection? Can you use cellular routers? We have oil wells with natural gas generators and thought about partnering with a farm program to provide reduced electricity but I was wondering about internet? Thanks
Yes you can use cellular as long as you have a reliable connection, mining uses a lot of electricity not a lot of bandwidth
@@johndonajelon21 thanks
Vosk - you mentioned that the miners mine coin based on a certain algorithym. So, if I buy say, an IceRiver miner ... and KAS coin operates on kHeavyHash algorithym..... can I mine ANY coin that operates on this algorithym... or am I stuck with just mining KAS?
You can mine any coin on that algorithm, the only exception where an ASIC can’t do ~more is the X5 by bitmain as it’s an odd CPU ASIC hybrid miner but TLDR - yes
Yes any coin on that algo
Thanks!
Appreciated!
Awesome vid Vosk. Actually, it looks like one to add to the pinned list, because I foresee a bunch of people referring back to this vid over and over again as they build up their own mining farms.
is there any asic miners that can mine multiple coins so i can switch what it mines
If you could recommend a startup package for someone starting out with regular 110 or 120 in a small house or apartment what would that look like? And what would the ROI most likely be for a startup package? I think this video is a great intro to starting out for already having the place the space and the upgraded electric capacity but what would a smaller startup setup be on a tight budget? Thanks! Cheers!
If your electric cost above $0.10/Kwhr not worth it at all
Also apartments don’t have 240V outlets so it’s not worth it at all either
From your experience, which setup has the lowest carbon footprint?
Installing solar or renewables
what if we have 230v in my country will it work fine? and can you just plug the miner into the wall?
Yes 220v+
Great Job Vosk.. Your videos motivated me to start a few days ago. Was wondering if you can be my mentor, so i wont make mistakes... I'll appreciate your response. Thanks
Great❤ I'm Latino like your vídeo 😊
Simplified Guide:
1- Pay the Chinese 50k to get the upcoming model
2- Chinese «test» your asic until the profitability reach a threshold. (average 2-3 months)
3- Receive your asic and start your climate change operation
4- Half way through breaking even, it's not profitable anymore
5- Go back to step 1
Can I use a BTC Asic on unmineable to mine alts?
Depends on the model
Is there a wallet I can get that is anonymous and can't be traced?
So you can use any asic miner with 120v outlet as long as the PSU surpass 80 percent of the wattage capacity of the miner. Forgive me if I’m way off base. Lol
The PSU has to support 120v, they operate in a range. Most PC power supplies are 120v-240v capable. All the high wattage ASICs (1500w+) require 180v-240v power.
The most wattage you want to draw on a 15A 120v standard home circuit is 1,400w. If you have a 20A circuit, you can go up to 1,900w. Anything higher draw than that must be on a higher voltage circuit, ideally 240v. A 30A 240v circuit can support up to 5,700w.
The ”80% Rule" is that you should not draw more than 80% of the total wattage your circuit can support.
Very, very great!! ... and ... what about Vokscoin could install a pool of miners and offer its subscribers to invest (e.g. USD 10,000) ?. It saves us the hassle of buying equipment (plus high power costs in our countries). Thus allowing us to participate in the BTC mining business. Something like Gominig, but on a smaller scale. Who likes this idea ?
Love this idea! Been following Vokscoin for awhile now. I live in New York and have a condo my concern is the voltage.
i think mining where i live might be a smart decision electricity is not expensive
