Finally,
Hope you you've been we'll been waiting on the drop
You’re awesome man! Thank you! I’m doing alright
I’ve faced the window issue. Apparently it’s because of a safety feature where if it sees resistance it goes back down, like if you have something in the way. The solution is to just clean the edges where it gets pretty dusty and cruddy over time. Cleaning that solved the issue for me.
Oh wow this is awesome to know thank you! I’ll definitely be giving this a try
My 2018 Civic EXT (bought new June 2018), 1.5 liter, turbo, CVT. 174 hp with 162 lb/ft torque with NO mods and NO tune.
After nearly four and a half years and 127,500 trouble-free miles averaging 34.1 mpg I have zero complaints.
The only repair performed was replacing the AC condenser at 120,000 miles (under extended warranty for a known AC problem). That’s it. Best car I’ve ever owned for overall satisfaction. Excellent performance. Great fuel efficiency. Very reliable.
With meticulous maintenance, I hope to get at least 300,000 miles without repair to the engine, turbo, or CVT. Most people think I won’t get even 200k miles without replacing the turbo. Well, I’m about 70k miles away from that milestone…fingers crossed.
Yeah the 10th gen platform is known to be incredibly reliable! You keep changing the oil and I can almost guarantee you’ll see 200k+ with no major repairs! We have got some seriously awesome cars :)
Tbh you're probably more likely to blow the CVT up before the turbo on stock tune with no mods.
Picked up a 2-owner Si coupe with 56k earlier this year, currently at ~79k untuned with PRL cold air & clutchmaster 400fx clutch+lightweight fw. These are pretty damn nice cars for the price tbh. Had an FK7 also around 56k before and that was nice, but these feel so damn good with the extra hp+tq and limited slip dif. In typical Civic fashion my interior has gotten a little rattly with age, and the coupe does not have the same massive styling aftermarket that the sedan and hatch do. These are pretty strong motors for what they are though, and you can squeeze some pretty nice power out of them with relative ease.
And lunar silver is definitely the best color ;)
The coupes are the way to go in my opinion, they look stunning! Sounds like you got yourself one hell of a car, just keep treating it right and you’ll be golden!
If you replace the hvac unit with the Canadian model, you can bypass the screen and directly adjust the climate via a knob.
Damn I did not know that! Thats super cool I’ll look into it
I have a 2020 Si Coupe. Car does take awhile to warm up, you're right on that. Lol. I live in Canada and the winter gets freezing cold here and I drive the car easy for 15-20 minutes before I start really pushing it (although I don't push it that often but I do enjoy flooring it sometimes in 1st and 2nd gear). I also 100% agree with you on the rev hang. I had it bad in my car. Got a Hondata FlashPro to tune it out and the car is so much smoother and way more fun to drive with it disabled. Hated driving the car with it on. Drove me nuts. Really hope Honda fixes the rev hang at some point because I won't buy another Si again if they don't. Completely kills the driving experience for me. It's a beautiful car and a great car but the rev hang ruins it for me. Thank god I invested in the Hondata for mine because I was getting rid of it this year if the rev hang wasn't getting disabled and I've only had it since March 2022. Honda fucked up big time with the programming on these cars. With the rev hang on, the car drove absolutely terrible when it was cold as it was super jerky just letting the clutch out normally and I didn't find it drove great warmed up either. Thank god for Hondata.
I think Honda is done with the Si if I am being completely honest. They can't / won't for a variety of reasons produce this car. Check out the 2025 refresh leaks from Canada. No more sport hatch with manual, Civic Hybrid will have more power than the current Si. Doubt this will make it to 12th gen, but I hope I am wrong.
I have the tsp stage 1 + tune, acuity stage 3 short shifter, greddy supreme sp exhaust, and prl cobra cold air intake on a 2018 civic si sedan. I've had no issues with my clutch and I do beat on it (though not as bad as others). Got the car with 35k miles and now I'm at almost 90k miles. I love the car! I have the same issue with my passenger window too. It's weird
Man I’m glad to hear that! I’ll bet your car is super fun to drive! Hopefully mine will get there too 😂
@@kylepalaian it will bro! Only took some time but it'll be worth it!
@@jahilemr dude you’re awesome!
i have an 18 sport and my passenger window is wonky too lol
How’s that tune I was planning to get that tune or the phearable race tune
That fitment is perfect ! What’s the wheel specs if you don’t mine me asking ? Are you on coilovers of lowering springs ?
Thank you! The wheels are 18x8.5 +35 and I’m on the d2 racing springs :)
I have a 2020, for what it is a 1.5L T, is a great ride. A little fun to drive, my 3 kids fit on the back and I can still have fun with it. Tuned with PRL CAI RACE MAF is a little fun. I do need stickier tires and a stronger clutch but for now it goes.
You are probably the coolest parent ever! This car is great for having a little fun all while needing a reliable daily
I just bought one and that was exactly my justification lol. I have two kids and wanted something good on gas and fun to drive. They love when I pick them up from school.
@@jtodd0221 That’s too cool 😎
Hell I wish a CZcamsr had on at like high 100000’s because mines about go hit 130000. Blew 3rd gear already but stock clutch was fine and looked like a usually 100000 clutch wear. I’m full stage one bolt on with a new stage 2 clutch. This is a blast of a car. 2017 si coupe
Dang that impressive! Honda really knows how to make reliable cars
Nice car. I have sometimes (7 out of 10) the same issue with the window. But it’s the driver side and I’m in a 9th gen si
Thank you man! I’ve always had a crush on the 9th gens 😂 but yeah the more people I hear talk about the window thing the more I think it’s just a Honda thing
Dunno if anyone has said anything about the passenger window, but that's a learning problem. There are videos something to do with accessory mode and holding down the switches in a certain way for a duration while all the way open and all the way closed, my 2006 Si did the same thing, so did my buddies 07 4 door EX . Or you could roll them up and google how to do the power window unit reset which could make them revert back to a normal working state. Definitely check the forums!
Wow thank you so much this is the most helpful comment ever I think I’ve ever read 😂 I did not know about this, all people told me was the window actuator was messed up so I will definitely be looking into this
In regards to taking forever to warm up, honda issued an ECU update to address this. For people in colder climates that do many short trips, where the motor didn’t come to temp, were getting oil dilution. Your dealership should be able to apply this update.
As for the window though, I got the same issue. As others have said, cleaning it helps a lot, but if you also then put a thin layer of turtle wax or car wax, it really did the trick and lasts much longer!
Oh also, Ktuner is the shit with TPS stage 1. I got it a couple weeks ago. I’ve had my 18 si coupe 5 years now and never had as much fun it haha. Just got intake, full exhaust (catted down pipe, mid pipe and back), and Ktuner w/ TSP stage one. Whole different car with the tune.
@@nyxnax3800 dude thank you so much this is great to know! Also I definitely plan on getting a ktuner and either the tsp or pherable tune once the weather gets a bit nicer 👍
the heatup issue is real.. here in canada in winters, once i ran it idle for 25 minutes and still the temp guage was not visible at alll.......
Oh man that’s just crazy 😂 I feel for ya
Everything in this video was accurate to my experience
Nice build! The car sounds good. I just picked myself up a 2019 civic si. Can’t wait to start modding her.
You're gonna love it! I would recommend learning the car in its stock form before you start to modify it
Dawg get a chrome delete for the windows and a nice duckbill for the sedan
Man I’m scared to do the chrome delete 😅I just know I’ll mess that up
@@kylepalaian dude if you can put a downpipe on you can do the chrome delete lol. I'm pretty sure twostepperformance sells like pre cut vinyl wraps for the chrome deletes like 20 bucks. Also some nice rain guards would look dope on those
@@repinrs I mean for 20 bucks I’ll definitely give it a shot for sure, I’ll look into it
Jets Vinyl sells a kit
@@ElPinche97 I know tsp sells one for the coupe I wasn't sure about the sedan
Good videos. Appreciate them. Definitely need the chrome delete around the windows. It was the first thing I did with my SI
Thank you! I plan on doing the chrome delete as my next video I’m super excited
it's crazy because my passenger window automatically comes back down also, but only when it rains
Lol that’s just weird, yeah these windows have some strange issues
Press and hold the window switch down and hold it for 5 seconds after is stops do the same for the up position, congratulations you just re calibrated the window safely stop
I will definitely try this thank you 🙏
The window issue been on since the 8th gens cause my 8th gen does the same thing too I click the button to roll window up and then it goes back down alittle bit and I have to hold it for it to close lol
good to know that Honda doesn’t know to fix their mistakes 😂
Good video, looking to get a 10th gen to daily. I have an 8th gen Si I will be keeping as well, no disrespect but you have not heard a Honda that sounds good until you hear an 8th gen with the stock exhaust and a short ram intake. The sounds you hear are as classic Honda as you can get. At 5500 when it makes its final change over the BWAAAAAAH it makes is not something you can get from any other car. Your car sounds good, but turbo 4cyl motors are the kale of the car universe, nobody loves them when other drivers don’t ruins exist but they are good for most people.
Yeah I love my 10th gen. And you’re totally right about the sound 😂 the old Honda 4 bangers that would just scream to redline were definitely awesome! I hope you find a good 10th gen man, and thank you for watching :)
The Infotainment system is a common issue. I joined a class action lawsuit for it because it’s super annoying 😭 (2020 Si Sedan)
Wow! I had no idea it was this common an issue, thank you for the info! I may be joking in on that as well
The window situation is an actuator relearn issue.
At 30 degrees I was at operating temp and then parked at idle for 10-15 mins with the heat on and by the end of that, the car was cold to where the temp gauge wasn't showing anything
😂 bruh that doesn’t surprise me at all that’s funny as hell
8th & 9th Gen sedans FTW!!!
my window does the exact same thing but on my drivers side, what i think it is, is the trim triggering it to stop because it’s hitting it, but i could be completely wrong lmao
😂 man it’s so annoying, but I’ll definitely look at that it’s a good thought fr
Have you seen lower part of the vehicle? I've heard that the 10th generation has problem with rust.
Yeah so I do all my own work on it and when I went under the car about a week ago it was pretty much rust free. I do wash my car very frequently so I’m sure that helps but as of right now everything is looking good
Can you clutch in, shift, and wait for the revs to drop before lifting off? I'm no expert. I'm just curious.
Yeah you can totally do that!
I have the same infotainment system issues as well. Mine goes black and can only fix it by unplugging my phone and plugging it back in. It's super annoying. Or it is working then all of the sudden doesn't respond to my touch.
Yeah this happens to mine quite often too! It gets really old very quickly lol
@@kylepalaian makes me want to punch it 😂😂
@@kylepalaian have found if I turn the passenger camera on and then off it sometimes resets the screen and works too
I have a 2019 sedan si and I’m currently on my second transmission repair blowing 4th twice all stock
Oh man I’m so sorry to hear that! I’ve heard that these transmissions are on the weaker side but only after you throw some decent power at them, I’ve never heard of a stock trans blowing up
@@kylepalaian yeah man it happened I have proof of receipts lol I’m currently waiting for it to get done again last time I paid 4700$ now 2700 due to labor
My car only has 35kmiles I want to go ppg but so much more has to get done
@@pacotovar3090that is why i went with the manual version. People keep telling me cvts are great, but there are numerous cases of them failing.
I have a 2020 that's almost ready 12888 miles on the clock. Drove a 2017 coupe for a week. I don't like the clutch feel, it's too light. The speakers are garbage. Otherwise it's an awesome car.
Try to calibrate the windows by opening and closing the window in this fashion: push down and hold for 5 seconds after the window is all the way down, then pull up and hold for 5 seconds after window is all the way up.
I will definitely give this a try thank you!!
@@kylepalaian now that procedure is generic for many cars. If that doesn't work there's a Honda specific way to do it with or without a scanner. Send me your email and I'll pull up and send you the procedure. Where in MI are u located?
Try resetting your battery for the infotainment system
I have the same passenger window automatic up issue. It’s the regulator. Honda replaced it once under warranty and now it’s doing it, again. My car is now out of warranty, but I am thinking I will replace it myself at some point. It is annoying!
Everyone is telling me they have the same problem! I am also out of warranty unfortunately but I guess it will make a great video 😂
This is good to know, thank you!
I’ve honestly had similar infotainment issues in my GTI. At this point I’m blaming apple 😂
😂 yeah man that could be it! These civics are known for their infotainment issues though
Mine is leaking oil from the oil pan. Im only at 62k miles. I noticed my c pillar window in the passenger side leaks from time to time either. The oil dilution sucks as well
Man I’m sorry to hear this, it makes me sad :( I hope you get everything sorted out
@@kylepalaian I am going to reseal the oil pan with rtv and I have a new washer for the drain plug and Ill see if that works. I change my oil now every 4k miles with the oil dilution problems these 1.5s have.
@@jaredfletcher1587 not bad ideas at all, I’m really sorry you have to go through this it’s a Honda it should be damn near bulletproof
@@kylepalaian you would think 😂. I'm a Toyota guy at heart and other than water pumps I've never had major issues at all with them
The window issue is the actuator
Yeah after posting this that’s what people have been telling me! I’m definitely looking into fixing it now, thank you 🙏
Sounds like you got a lemon, the only issue my car has had in it’s life of 38k, 3 years was the ac condenser, which is a warranty item..
My passenger window does the same
After I posted this video I’ve gotten so many people telling me their windows do this too lol it seems to be a pretty common problem
60 Months 148000km honda civic 1.5turbo cvt

@@kylepalaian I'm sorry, I was wrong 66 months
@@krzysztofkosmowski940 any problems with the engine and CVT?? Please rep, I'm about to buy a used one..

now do what I did and get 2020 Si Front/Rear garnishes
I should they look so much better than the 2018-2019
Sounds like you got a lemon, the only issue my car has had in it’s life of 38k, 3 years was the ac condenser, which is a warranty item…. Well I have a 2019 si but still. I tuned my car less than a month ago with exhaust and cai…
I know they made some changes from the 2018 to the 2019 model years so maybe they fixed most of the stuff I complained about? I’m not sure if they did or not but I’m just thankful everything else is still going strong
@@kylepalaian I believe the 2019 infotainment is non touched based, has normal buttons except for the touch screen
Isn’t it illegal to replace the exhaust system?
No, we don’t have a noise restriction where I live :)
@@kylepalaian I meant would it throw a code?
@@dhhbtd a catback won’t throw a code, but a downpipe will
They fixed the heating issue so we'll from the EG huh
Do you have drone?
If you’re talking about exhaust drone then yeah. If I’m going over 70 It definitely drones a bit, and over 80 it gets pretty damn loud lol I’m running the MAP catted downpipe and the HKS hi power catback
@@kylepalaian hey I got a 3inch front pipe im About to put on , I'm going to get a jpipe put on too to counsel out the drone. I hear that gives more air flow so more power for the turbo. The noise will go outside the car instead of you hearing the drone inside
@@LynnDisclose wow that sounds awesome! you should make a video so I can hear it when it’s all done
I have the same car. Trust me my advice to you before you tune it upgrade the clutch
Haha 😂 I will take your advice I’ve heard many things about the clutches In these cars being weak
@@kylepalaian I’ve been tuned since December, if it’s cold and I’m on high boost I do see alittle slip, I mostly beat on my car on low boost where there’s no slip so as long as u don’t plan on being on high boost most of the time I think you’ll be fine for a bit. Just don’t floor it low rpm’s
I also have that window issue usually when it’s raining. Rev hang made me hate driving this car once I tuned it and got rid of it I actually started enjoying driving this car.
@@edgars6081 yeah rev hang is the worst 😂
@@kylepalaian eh depends. I’m on tsp stage 2 slight slippage if I gun jt too high in a gear at low rpm. Don’t listen to everything you hear
Got 19 si coupe and I'm glad it came with climate buttons and volume knob. You need chrome delete above windows though.
Yeah I really wish I would’ve gotten the 19+ bc of the buttons 😂 and I would’ve done the chrome delete already but I tried it once and it turned out horrible lol I think a blind man could’ve done a better job then I did. I’m probably going to get it done professionally
what springs are you on??
I’m on the d2 racing springs
@@kylepalaian any rubbing issues with speed bumps? I was contemplating eibak sport lines
@@Tonic10thGen depends on your wheels honestly, when I’m on the stock wheels no rubbing at all. When I am on my nice summer wheels (which have a much more aggressive fitment) I rub whenever I hit a pebble 😂
@@kylepalaian oh shit alright lol, i went with 8.5 width wheels so i think ill be alright... i was considering spacers to give it a little more poke, but i feel like ill rub like a mf without a fender roll/pull if i do the D2's or sportlines on 8.5 with spacers lol
@kylepalaian I'm looking into D2s and 18x9.5 38 wheels and I'm worried about rubbing. What are the specs on your summer wheels? I heard it comes down to which tire you opt for and you can get away with no rubbing.... just not sure about that, it's just something I remember hearing. Makes me think the eibach sport lined with the 1.7-1.8 drop might be better for an aftermarket wheel setup
Cosmetic doesn't really matter . How bout those overheating and head gasket issues.
Like I said in the video, this thing hasn’t skipped a beat mechanically! From what I’ve heard the head gasket issue only happens when you’re running high boost for a decent amount of time, and as for overheating I have not heard about the si having an overheating issue
I live in Canada, I let my baby run for 30-50 mins before I hop in 😅
Bro I don’t blame you 😂 I’ll bet it probably isn’t warm still
50k is nothing. Let us know how she's doing with 200k.
I plan on it!! Let’s hope she’s still running by then 😂
no rubbing in the back?
No I only rub in the front 😂 and that’s only when I hit a decent sized pothole or something like that
@@kylepalaian awesome im looking at a newer SI but there is a honda dealer by me that has a great price on a 1 owner 2020 SI so i checked out your video to check one out

no issues with oil fuel dilution?
No I’ve never had the oil dilution issue. I did just have someone comment telling me they bought a 19’ si and they are having a huge oil dilution issue though, so I’m not sure what causes it or why it happens. I’ve had an oil catch can installed for the last 40k ish miles and I change my oil religiously every 3k miles so maybe that helps?
@@kylepalaian that does help. Changing the oil sooner. I smell gas in my oil.
