Racing Beater Cars on NASCAR’s Sonoma Raceway with the 24 Hours of LeMons! The premise is simple, albeit genius, and that’s probably what has attracted so many people to this ridiculous series. Find some buddies, buy a $500 (or less) beater, prep it for the track while staying under that $500 limit, and race to your heart’s content-or at least until the car breaks! To clarify, the price limit does not include the safety equipment added to the car, the brakes, or the wheels and tires so you can in fact stay under the half a grand limit fairly easily, and if you don’t, the LeMons “BS Inspectors” will assess the car and tack on lap penalties based on how far over the budget the determine you might be.

Done this for5 years now. By far the most fun I’ve had in any type of racing. Tons of seat time, lots of opportunity for trick (or hack) fixes, and great people. If the point of motorsport is to have a good time, then lemons figured it out
I was given an 89 Honda Civic Wagon, I was gonna part it out then scrap it; now I think I have a new plan for it. This looks like a total blast.
I find this more entertaining than the actual LeMans
That's because not being too fanatical or focused on actually winning makes stuff a lot more fun

For those who perceive 24 Hours of LeMons is crap heap racing and nothing to it, take your fave ride to race at 24 Hours of LeMons for a reality check. There are world class drivers at LeMons including pro teams that run in real races as their day job to folks who have never put a wheel on a road race track before their LeMons race. There are cars that are properly prepared for the demands and rigors of endurance racing to weekend wrenchers with zero clue how to make a car go.
Where else could an average joe race against a nascar legend while in a total shibox that has a 43% chance of blowing up

You can sell parts like interior and trim to get your base car down to $500.
It started out as a shell on someones side yard. It was puking oil out of everywhere and smelt so bad before it even got on the track. Not sure it even finished.
The Audi A4 @1:00 too....
