JP is a revelation for YOUNG people, keep learning and reading and taking chances and experiences and see how that dissolves fast.
Most people seem to take his explanations of EVERYTHING he says because they have none of their own, that veneration changes when YOUNG people obey him, and you clean your room and see that the so called results he says will come are not there, same with all the other recommendations
... but if you go and hold on to your balls and open a business and take those chances/risks and stop blaming others for how your life is, and stop looking for gods like JP to guide you, you will see for yourself you are stronger than you think, so you win one thing, then another and another until you are another person.
This is why I dislike how YOUNG people hold on to the raft JP is in the middle of a huge ocean, sure it helps, but you have to also know how to navigate that ocean of many things that exist in it. Let go of the raft at some point, and try living on your own!!
If you're 40-60 and you still didn't know the twelve rules he talks about in his book, then WTF have you been doing with your life!! You should have known this shit by fifteen!! Thus, even now with JP nothing will change!
      Good luck.

I get what you're saying, but that is cheap shot on YOUR part, it is a deviation of the subject, the FACT that men should know all of that by their teen years.
So you can insult people so you don't have to deal with the points made.
Do YOU really needed someone to tell you to clean your room, listen respectfully to others, etc etc.??
And about hierarchies and how YOU fit into it, the sexual marketplace etc... you were so isolated that you didn't know THAT??
Especially the sexual marketplace, either you get women or you don't, YOU GET LAID OR YOU DON'T, all other words are explanations for why it does happen or why it doesn't, but most people know that already, you know how women select men, and how men select women, is not that complicated to observe, but it is hard to know how to go about it to get the only result that matters BIOLOGICALLY in the end, either some women want to screw you or they don't, and THAT IS HOW you know your place in basically any hierarchy.
But it gets more interesting still, because if you DO NOT have issues getting women and you get plenty, at some point you decide which women you want to screw and which you rather not, it is that final point of men choosing women instead of women choosing YOU that matters in that "sexual" game.
I am NOT saying JP has nothing to intelligent to say... only that THOSE things are not.

Has been quite some time since I’ve listened to Dr. Peterson. And, I still love Jordan. He is authentic, interesting, and I believe - a good man who cares about the well-being of others, society, culture, Family and, our God given World & All Good Things; and he cares about Doing The Best he can. He’d be a wonderful man to have a conversation with. (imo)

  • @davidlakhter
    @davidlakhter Před 2 lety +142

i love dr. peterson - he's a legend. thanks for the podcast
    (Edit from my other comment)
37:58 this is the point about "tell the truth" that flies over many people's heads when Jordan conveys the point. very key to understand - "Helping people walk through thinking about why telling the truth is a good idea. Not as a top-down, shake-your-finger moral injunction: 'Don't lie, you shouldn't lie' - but in a detailed manner to explain the relationship between the instrumental use of deceit and the collapse of civilizations."
40:59 - that's interesting. this is probably why many people hope for an afterlife because it helps them develop a moral framework to not "rule in hell" but have a "heaven worth striving for."
46:26 yeah I see Dr. Peterson's point where if you're naturally inclined to do what you do and it happens to make the impact it does (like Joe Rogan in his own way), then that's the path you should stay on. It's not that you're "called upon" by society to do a certain thing, but you're called upon by your own will to make a dutiful impact that's in line with what gives you purpose.
1:00:14 exactly. insane how this happened
1:52:00 great point about how we rely much on China economically, Cina's become this totalitarian state over the last two decades, and we replicated China's covid policies in a jiff. this is the true threat to America and other countries
2:25:29 I think many people fail to recognize that the propositional statements or "rules" in religious text is not well communicated or understood other than its literal meaning. this is why Jordan attracts the audience of people who'd otherwise try to find solice in religion.

Clarifying what motivates you, your aspirations, your dreams should be your priority the next few weeks, even if it will take a few years to achieve your dreams. Your "dreams" will become your 'North Star" not only guiding you to your full potential but away from all of the world's distractions.

You confided in friends, but they are not.
Forgive yourself for expecting a friend in a person who you didn't establish friendships' mutual trust with.
Separate the social figure from the person, and the dream will reemerge once you do meaningful things.
