    You should have told the main reason why a bat might swoop down near a person's head. The majority of bats are insectivores, meaning they eat mainly bugs like moths, flies, beetles, and mosquitoes. The bats that swoop in near you are looking for those bugs like mosquitoes flying around you. Bats are our allies, trying get a meal of the pests that irritate and bite us.

      About 15 years ago, I was homeless in Arizona for 14 months, and used to lay my head at nights against the trunk of a tree in a grapefruit orchard, with permission of the orchard's owner. Looking up, I would occasionally see the darkness of a bat against the lighter night sky, and I marveled at the incredible swiftness and accuracy with which they would flit about, oftentimes within a foot of my head. I knew that if I didn't move, they would never hit me, and they never did. And NO, no drugs were involved! (I can't speak for the bat, of course.)

    GMOs are actually much older. European wine had a blight issue and they spliced US native grape vines into theirs to create mold resistant grapes. You can google great french wine blight. So we've been mixing plants since the 1800s if not before.

    Wasps and crazed birds like angry gulls are more of a danger to your head. I got stung by a wasp once, that landed on my head and I put my hand up there, because I felt it land.
    The fear of bats came from medieval times, when they were sometimes carriers of rabies. In modern times most bats aren't infected by diseases that often and the most dangerous bat is the vampire bat, because its bites, mostly to animals, might cause disease. Bats are often unfairly maligned, but also sometimes endangered species.

    The thing with diamonds anyway, is that while they are "hard" in terms of *scratching ability,* they are actually incredibly brittle on contact. This is because minerals have both a "hardness" scale that measures scratching ability, as said, and a "toughness" scale, which measures how well a mineral stands up to trauma such as being dropped. Thus, unlike what Minecraft thinks, they would be absolutely useless as tools or weapons!

    When I was a kid back in the 90's, my friend next door family had a rat cage in the corner of the kitchen by the sliding glass door. Next to that cage was the microwave. The two pet rats both got cancer at the same time and died. It could of been a coincidence, but I remembered they didn't have anymore pets like that, just the cat and dog, and they got a brand new microwave out of precaution. Back then I don't think anyone was sure about microwaves, but the whole thing didn't persuade me or them to stop using them.

The more you be yourself, the more the furry ones will want to get to know your kindness... Short EXAMPLE... Friend took me to his house party to celebrate birth of his son while I sat on a couch with Cujo he named LEO...4 years later, friend moved across the street from my place & sitting on a different couch, LEO decided to become my Beethoven couch buddy along with 4 cats, that I was labeled by another friend's kid as "The Cat Whisperer". L.O.L. LEO was fun just laying on the couch, constantly growling at me in one house, but years later in another apartment with a different couch and "Come on LEO, I'll take you for a walk." L.O.L. I was surprised that those pets trusted me. But still, my 40 years of life dictate I take a knee with an open hand to let them get my scent to sniff. : )

    @sandyhenderson441 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Michael, you're wrong. A defibrillator doesn't shock the heart into a normal rhythm. A defib is used to stop a heart that's gone nuts. Each muscle fibre is contracting by itself, the lack of co-ordination means there's no pump effect and so no circulation. The heart has its own pacemaker, the sino-atrial node (SAN), in the right atrium. This normally co-ordinates the muscle fibre contraction so they all contract togethet and pump blood.
    Sometimes the SAN loses control and the muscle fibres do their own thing.
    The defibrillator shock stops all muscle activity, causing asystole (flat line), and if luck is with you & your patient the SAN can then kick back in and generate a rhythm that pumps.
    Cardiac arrest rhythms that don't need a shock are also common, so irl not every patient will need shocking, contrary to what screen writers seem to believe.

    Edit: it's not just humans who can have eating disorders. My greyhound (a breed associated with loving lots of food) is anorexic. It's not the same as with humans, but it's a real PITA when trying to get him to eat!
    Much as I never wanted to say anything positive about Margaret Thatcher, Milk Snatcher (she stopped kids getting free milk at school back in the '70s, something about which I was never sure. I love milk, but it wasn't refrigerated in my school...), and I'm certainly not making any claims about her naming soft-serve ice cream, but before she entered politics, she was a biologist (or chemist. Can't remember and don't care) working in the food industry. So I guess it's possible?

    About #3: nothing at Dairy Queen in Canada is ice cream. It's a product made from powered coffee whitener. In Canada, a product needs to be 30% dairy to use any dairy related terms on the product or even your signage. Which is why those outlets are not called Dairy Queen in Canada, they are simply DQ. Their menus offer you cones, shakes, sundaes etc. The words ice cream never appear. But they aren't the only ones. Big ice cream makers such as Breyers, their less expensive product is labelled frozen dessert, because it's the coffee whitener stuff. Their premium brands however are ice cream. Same goes for McDonalds and other fast food joints. On their menus you'll see cone, not ice cream cone or shake, not milk shake. Harveys used to sell milk shakes up until recently but I noticed their menu now reads simply shakes. Companies exist to generate profits and with the cost of dairy products climbing, that cuts into their profits, so they turn to non-dairy substitutes.

      The following is a comment by @Daniel_Coffman, and is so perfectly stated that I just copied and pasted it here. "The thing with diamonds anyway, is that while they are "hard" in terms of scratching ability, they are actually incredibly brittle on contact. This is because minerals have both a "hardness" scale that measures scratching ability, as said, and a "toughness" scale, which measures how well a mineral stands up to trauma such as being dropped. Thus, unlike what Minecraft thinks, they would be absolutely useless as tools or weapons!" What this guy said is 100% accurate.
