"I Remember" is one of the best songs on the album I feel. The interlude allows the lyrics to hit even harder and gives a sick build up.
I agree, I always loved the opening before the song!
“I Remember” without the introduction monologue is simply not “I Remember”.
Agreed. The reviewer is way off on this one. The intro is one of the most powerful moments on the record.
Yes, everybody knows this peace by the heart. And I can recite it TO THIS DAY.
The MOST important song on this album: “John Wayne Was A Nazi” called JW out for what he was. In the early 1980’s when everyone in Punk was yelling “Fukc Ronald Reagan!!!”, it was impressive to hear someone calling out an American Superstar shortly after his death.👍👍
I think Dave said it wasn't that deep, re John Wayne tbh.
This record, and the first Crucifucks 12" literally rewired my brain when I was 16.
me too, minus the crucifucks
This was one of my favorite punk albums growing up
Yeah I do agree - this and Circle Jerks Group Sex, and Fang, and the Big Boys, and Minutemen yeah the Minutemen.
I love the opening of I remember, I remember hearing it first in the 80s when I was in high school and I always thought it drove the song home making the song that followed even more powerful. Plus it’s a warm up for the message of the song! But everybody’s entitled to their opinion, whether they like it or not.
I love how much MDC triggers fake punks 🥰
Lol true. They're pathetic.
Ah, there is the punk police
Calling anyone a fake punk is unpunk and very conformative. Sounds like you're not punk and just prefer to be part of anything deemed "edgy"
@@jakethatdumbkid7516 yo mama is conformative.
Never noticed that but I was at a DOA where a Republican punk god triggered when they did “You’re Fucked Up, Donnie”.
I remember when this came out…incredible stuff at the time. Definitely essential.
this album and dirty rotten ep from dri are two of my all time favorites, still listen to them all the time
I dont give a fuck what anybody think; this is the best album ever! Thanx for the review 🤘🤘🤘
Just seen them for the 6th time last week. Glad they still play most of this record.
Met you on Monday at Punk Rock Bowling and just want to tell you again how awesome your content is!
Love that Record!
There is an Alternative Tentacles mix of this album, mixed by East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride. Beer City re-released it.
When of the best punk bands ever, one of the best punk albums ever. I'm based as I used to hang out at the Vats with MDC.
This is the best thing I could have woken up to on a Saturday!
Great album
It’s incredible for me the I grew up in Australia and got this album when I was a kid. And then I see others who love the dirty rotten LP, crass and the crucifucks and I didn’t ever realise others were on the same journey as me. Absolutely incredible, changed my life for the better.
Terrific record and band !!! Go on with this format!! We want other reviewssss 🤘🏻
Used to have this on cassette back in my teens in the days when I was skating.
🤠 I dunno. I reckon that free-jazz breakdown and build up has one of my favorite dark humor lyrics..." Get out of town if you know what's good for you... and take your stand."
saw these guys live last year for free, was a fun show and the dudes were nice
One of the albums that really got me into punk music. My favorite songs on the album are Born to Die, Corporate Deathburger, I Remember and Business on Parade. Truly one incredible record that influenced a crazy amount of bands. Glad you covered it! Would love it if you reviewed a Dr Know album man
Better channel than The Punk MBA in my opinion.
I think if you were around in the day, this is an essential classic. I remember everyone talking about this album for ages & wanting to get their hands on it. We played it endlessly. If you're newer into punk, it's probably more of a cult classic, as there's much more history in between & it's easier to classify as generic (thanks to all the generic stuff that came later).
What a based and absolutely necessary band name
👍 for Tshirt
I had a cassette with this one on a side and more dead cops on the other. It wore out within a year. Lol.
I Remember is one of the best songs on the album!
My buddy Jose lived with Dave and Spike from DRI in the early 80s and he told me about having a drum off with Al who, he told me, unlaced his boots and took them off in the middle of a drum solo.
Stands up there with Pick In Your King, In God We Trust Inc, and Earth AD as essential straight forward fast 80s hardcore records.
I'd throw the first Die Kreuzen record in that mix too.
I'm not sure I'd say its a hardcore punk essential but I would say it's a political punk essential with the added bonus of having one of the most iconic covers ever created 🏴
Mdc bad brains the freeze minor threat. The only band you need 👌🤙👍🏻
This album and their EP in 1983 are the best of their releases. After 1983 they sorta lost their initial grit and the album's became a bit disjointed.
nice!
I wish someone would do something about Dissucks.
Texas Stain, these guys get after it. Saw them with DK last summer, still get after it.
🍕
killer album?
I love this record. I have the LP.
C? Booooooooo. MDP, Politicians, or MDB, Bankers. Cops are just grocery store baggers. Good early shit though. I heard some on college radio around 96-00. You never forget a name like that.
Images and lyrics are cooler than the music.kinda song like one song
I don’t know why you are reviewing great punk albums yet pandering to the norm who would have no interest in this style of music.. I was in a political punk band late 80’s early 90’s and you are playing with a raw aggression devoid of actual musical talent to get a message across. MDC are one of these bands so trying to review them for a market not from the scene seems ridiculous to me.. also fun fact don’t compare them with Bad Brains as I love that band, they actually refused to do shows with MDC based on Dave’s sexuality 😊
Are you kidding? The musical technicality & skill is off the charts on this album & they're playing at a breakneck speed
@@User-kv5bn4dxnAgreed. It's raw, but there's a weird complexity to it.
Cult Album definitely. Revisited with older ears and life experience it doesn't fully hold up. Especially with the current climate.
Keep crying snowflake 😂☠️😂☠️😂
LMAO
Aaaaabsolutely Despise All Lefty politics and the Hippies that disguise themselves as "Punks".
Love MDC and Most other early 80s Hardcore. Couldn't give a flying F. about whst they're singing about or preaching. I like punk for what it is. The Music and the Music Only.
Lost interest in this review and stopped watching when it became clear there was no more than a few seconds of actual MDC in it
That's the way album reviews go dummy you should know the album already. Go read a magazine 🤣
I really hate seeing these great bands from back in the day go woke only because it’s a far left position and not whether or not it’s a sane position. Sad.
it is disheartening. i don't understand why balanced, reasoned, fully-researched, unbiased assessments/stances are so frowned upon. Extremism and emotion reign, sadly
I was disgusted when I saw this band promote a pro Ukraine compilation. Ironic.
made a carreer out of pissing people off - why change now
This is the most unpunk thing I have ever read.
@@xdeadbeatboi6666x glad someone else said it. couldn’t tell if it was sarcastic or not
The 2 singles one on crass and millions of dead children are fucking great..
millions of dead cope
Cool story bro go listen to Skrewdriver and piss off.
I do love seeing them trigger all the Cons here
