  • Before going the solo route, Walter was part of some seminal New York bands over the last 20 years including Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Quicksand, Rival Schools, and Walking Concert.
He is currently working on a full length that is going to be split released by Big Scary Monsters (UK), Academy Fight Song (US) and Arctic Rodeo (Europe). This is the title track off the upcoming record.
Thanks to BSM and RJ from AFS for setting this up.

This is so good. I've seen Walter with 4 different bands and even though I've gotten to speak with him a few times I've always forgotten to talk about his solo stuff which if we're being honest is amongst his best material. What a dude, what a talent. Keep it going my man.

And not everybody really liked him all the time,
at the Sunday matinee he filled the sky he filled the sky
To the dear departed, to the broken-hearted family
at the harcore funeral i cried and cried
for the passing of a hero on the lower east side

Definitely the best song of a cracking album; have watched this video so many times now. Hope to catch him in London at some point.

I don't have the lyrics in front of me, but at a glance: grave beyond=great beyond. "don't say aloud"=don't sell out. he feels the sky=he filled the sky. the lower east side is the neighborhood in new york that was the birthplace of nyhc, and home of Raybeez/Warzone, CBGB's, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, etc.. Listen to those records, and this song should make more sense. RIP Raybeez

Rival Schools was a cool concept, but the music of Quicksand was way better.
