  • It has been 10 months with our AluCab Canopy Camper and here’s a look at how we’ve settled in. As we adventure with the unit, it has become home! Here’s a walk through of why we chose AluCab Canopy Camper and why we love it even more every adventure! #alucab #alucabcanopycamper

    Great walk thru of your build, btw I met you at the Toyota meet in San Diego back in November last year. I had just got my alucab a few months before that meet so it was pretty bare at the time. I still need to contact Al to get a build out for the rear storage. The alucab totally blacks out the sun and I have definitely woken up when it’s super bright out already 😂😂😂

    Thanks for a great vid!! Such an awesome rig! Please, some questions: -What is the gray item with the flat top and handle on the side, in the back, on the right side opposite of the frig? -What toilet did you opt for? -If you were to build another rig, would you go for a larger bed, like a Tundra, for more space? Happy trails!!

      Hey!
      The flat grey top with handle is our EcoFlow Delta 2 Max - we decided to go with a portable battery system. I can do a whole video on how and why.
      We got our toilet at REI. It’s the Go Anywhere (briefcase cassette style) - we use it in conjunction with the AluCab Shower Cube for privacy.
      *using the bathroom inside the camper is up to you and how comfortable you are with your travel partner. When solo - it really is use as you need!
      If we were to do this build again - I would opt for a Long Bed 6’ Tacoma. As much as we want a Tundra - the full size truck would make it a little more challenging for some locations - limiting our reach.
      ****but for my 6’5” fiance - it would mean he gets some more room!!!
      The top tip for picking a rig - is HOW MUCH SPACE we didn’t think about. Every square ft does matter.
      Hope this helps!

    Hello, great car. Can you tell me the manufacturer of the folding table under the Frontrunner kitchen or the source of supply? Greetings Sepp

    Great video!!! Thanks for sharing… how do you feel having that in the back has affected your off-road capabilities and do you know what it all weighs with the cool interior you made? Thx John

    • @chasingstorm
      @chasingstorm  Před měsícem +1

      The weight on the back with interior has effected the Leaf pack - we currently have OME Heavy but they are flat (aka maxed) - so we are upgrading and want to have atleast a 1000-1200lb capable set.
      As for off-roading, we’re doing easy to moderate trails - and it’s definitely a base camp now. We have a 4Runner that does all the wheeling and off-roading.
      The overall weight, I will and need to go get it weighted. I would love to know where that number is now. 😂

      Thanks for the info… my goal is to try to build something that can “wheel” and be my camp…. Not a full on wheeler but good stuff to get me where I want to go : ) have a nice day…

      Hello… another quick question… do you know if you can stand on the roof when it is down? Thank you…

    How much does this weigh and what did you have to do to suspension etc?
    Thanks for a great video

    • @chasingstorm
      @chasingstorm  Před 9 dny +1

      I put the rig on a scale the other day - but it was a pre-loaded weight (empty water tank, empty fridge, no bags packed for 2 people, no extra drinking water, outside fireplace, extra propane…) it came in at totaling 6,520lbs.
      Suspension currently, Kings 2.0, SPC UCAs, ToyoTires Open Country 295/17, Rays 05x (5 wheels) and a body mount chop (BMC), *OME Heavy / 800lbs - which they are flat at the moment
      **I will be glad to do a video on suspension - I have actually gone through 2 sets of leafs and going to upgrade once again.

      @@chasingstorm I would love to see that video - as the extra weight on the back would have an impact on the suspension. I did upgrade my brakes with the plan of getting a camper on top but wasn't sure what to do about the suspension.
