Franz Liszt was incredible. He deserves more credit for these transcriptions than we can imagine.

Thomas Tate At least. And seriously, thank God somebody with that kind of talent actually made the transcriptions at all. We take these for granted and we shouldn't.

I agree. I have loved the transcriptions by Franz Liszt for years. And I have done the music for the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 7th symphonies if you want a copy

Vera Evans ikr he didn't even have CZcams from where he could just listen to it. All he had was sheet music and his abused piano

This symphony really comes out as a great piece of music once it's played on piano. Especially the 4th movement. Liszt managed to make it better through transcription. Fantastic performance, it's wonderful idea to have orchestral pieces played on piano. I feel like symphonies have this simple and clear structure and melody that piano sonatas sometimes lack.

I completely agree! The second movement caught me by surprise by it's clarity and compositional proficiency. I wrote transcriptions for 2 beethoven quartets if you'd like to hear and judge.

the transcription and this interpretation gives justice to the "scherzando" and to Beethoven's humour.

The 8th is a magnificent symphony. Who listens to it?. BEHIND the 3rd I believe this was H .L Menckens favorite.

I really love this symphony from Beethoven, because it's very classical. Last summer I didn't find the full piano transcription and I was little sad. I heard this firstly. The 2nd movement is so perfect. The 4th movement is hard, because the pianist is changing his fingers and it isn't playing in tremolo the triplets. In the transcription Liszt not always took down to contra octave the bass. I suggest Symphony No.8 (Ludwig van Beethoven) Bernstein too (27:59)

Benjámin Sassák I agree, this is a good symphony the 3rd movement is my favorite because at the beginning and the end it sounds like a march, even know this isn't Beethoven's most popular piece of music it still was s a good piece because beethoven was an amazing composer.

In my opinion the 4th mouvement is played a bit too fast by Katsaris.

I have the Leslie Howard set, and it is marvelous. Few pianists can do better than Howard on these super hard transcriptions. Cyprien is the best though. What a boss. Thanks for uploading all of these, MrPalika123. I bought the set after sampling your uploads.
