    Great tip, but remember to hold on to a part of the new film while using it to pull the old film from its canister. Don’t just pull on the new canister. I ended up unwinding (and exposing) half of the new film trying to salvage a couple of frames from the old roll. Got the tip out eventually!

    Good evening, Eric!
    I had to use that tip today. Went out to shoot a roll of Ilford Pan F today. Despite the Canon FTb having a quick load system, one can still have it not catch the leader right. The rewind knob was not turning so I went to rewind a tiny bit into the canister to do it again. As luck would have it, I did not notice the leader pulling free of the takeup spool (maybe it never caught) and rewound into the canister. Anyway, I had a second roll of a different speed in case I wanted to shoot that. So I opened that roll and did what you showed us. Worked great!
    Thank you so much! This is a good reason also to carry a second roll of film with us at all times! :)

      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      Definitely!!! 👍🏻
      Forgot to add that next month will be 30 years since I bought my first SLR, a Canon EOS 620 and a 50mm 1.8. I’ve already got a roll of Ektar 100 for it as it is the closest to what I used back then, Eastman 5247 and Ektar 125. It’ll be just with the 50; my L glass and the tele are staying home.

I have point and shoot camera as my second camera what rewinds the film that it goes totally inside the canister and I just used lots of force with pliers on dark bag and broke the canister and took the film out. This methods seems much better :D Maybe I load a film to that camera and test the roll to see how this works :)
