If you want your character to re-appear with the "Im a veteran now" trope, Terry's garou costume is the golden standard on how you should change their look. He grew out of his shounen protagonist reds for a more grounded and mature brown, but despite all that he still kept his signature star. A good way to visually show that a character is proud of who they were even when time has changed them.
Just give your "Grown Up" character a bomber jacket. Works everytime. Jokes aside, a little detail that I really like in his two iconic outfits is that both his hat in his original costume and his hair in Garou serve the same function- They both cover his eyes. Very noticable with the older sprites. I'm not sure why I like it so much but it just makes Terry's sprites look a lot cooler and intimidating imo
I always feel like aging a character can go 2 ways based on their personality- the can let time destroy them, or let it strengthen them and grow. Wild Wolf Terry is a great example of the latter.

I love it when characters get new outfits to reflect their growth and change between games. In fast paced games, you need to relay a ton of information about every character to the player in a short span of time, and outfits are a great way to convey that. I loved it when Strive did it, and I loved it with Terry's Garou outfit.

Funny hearing Max's comment on Terry's super having different animation. Pretty sure Iori's eyes changed when he did a super on characters that has a backstory with Orochi. They care about tiny details, alright.

Truly the biggest flaw from Terry’s inclusion into Smash was how we were robbed from this alternative attire... Sarcasm aside, definitely is one hell of an incentive to get people hyped for what could be a nice range of outfits for the fighters in KOF15 (since it would be a shame if it was just limited to just two characters at best).
I hear you dude. I also really wanted Terry's Garou outfit & theme music included in Smash as well. I love Terry's Garou look just as much as I love his classic look and his Garou theme music is a gazillion times way better than his original Fatal Fury theme music.
@@ChiefMedicPururu I might be wrong here but I doubt the hat would change anything about the hitbox. A different thing is that Terry in Smash has a good amount of animations that involve his hat. Taunts, some of his victory screen poses... And I guess that they felt the hat was more important than his Garou costume lol. It sucks bc his Garou costume is better imo but I understand that making new animations for the battles and the victory screen poses just for a costume is not the best way to use your resources, but still.
Considering they released an official Fatal Fury Hat awhile back, I wouldn't mind if they did the same for Terrys bomber jacket. Heck I would also love the classic red jacket. Where I live is pretty damn hot all year round but I'd find excuses to wear it no doubt.

Wild wolf also had a slightly different personality than normal Terry. It's very subtle but u can see it in the in game dialogue. (More serious, less light-hearted)
The devs promised that XV will include several DLC costumes (even more than what XIV delivered) it's kinda exciting especially if we get legacy costumes for certain characters like Robert, Iori, Kyo (Nests attire or 98 classic) but also some alternatives for Ryo (Mr Karate's costume) etc...

The fact there's a different animation on alternate costumes, tells me they're really going all out on even just the little things this time and that's what I always loved about old kof too. The things at the back that you gotta pay attention to(like when you could see your teammates at the background in older kofs and cheer on the front character or despair when they lose). They should make this the norm with adding unique animations for alternate costumes in a fighting game.

most likely rugal since he's the only character that we saw in the gamescom trailer that wasn't revealed yet. If you remember a part of the trailer had multiple characters's endings from older games shown basically hinting at the characters being in the game before they were even revealed (whip, maxima, kula, team k' formation), all of the characters shown there but rugal have been confirmed.

Kof attention to detail has always been very detailed from the stages to the characters. I always admired the team for their attention to detail even the most subtle.
I prefer Garou Terry over the other one and i really like the extra animations they gave him. O and to answer your questiom max yeah i saw a comment saying Garou Terry is the worst design of him so yeah i'm suprised too
I love when the devs make different animations for alt costumes. SFV mostly does not have that, which have bothered me for a while. But when they finally fixed that with Akira and Menat's intros, I was like... FINALLY!! Please i hope they improve that in SFVI
I don't even have a PS4 yet but I'm so damn tempted to pre-purchase KOF XV. I love Garou Terry design so much man. I was bummed out when it was it in Smash and a big part of me doesn't want to lose this chance now!
I just preordered the Omega Edition and I'm glad SNK put the classic Leona costume in it because I'm sick of super expensive collectors editions not having every preorder bonus when they should.

SFV has a lot of stuff like that, Vega still holding the smaller eye masks in some of his alts with his whole hand, G still holding his hat in animations even if he doesn't have it on in his CPT costume, etc. they're all really small things but they're really noticable and I'm glad SNK is changing them

That game was not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination, but I loved His Version of Dragon Install there... I would only get rid of the giant flame for a sword and instead used the weapon Guilty Gear Xrd Sol Dragon Install uses, but maybe have it on Fire... If that would even be a New Character, like Holy Order Sol in Accent Core, I'd be fine with it... Additionally, I'd love to see a revamped version of Dragon Install Sekkai for Sol's move set...
8:25 it wouldn't work for KoD because he's a whole different wrestler persona, his moves are a lot different than normal Tizoc It'd look very out of place, unlike Terry
I remember that in Tekken 6, the clippin and zippin was all over the place. Like Bryan do have a win pose where it leads on top of the opponent, punching it, if the opponent is someone like Bob, you see Bryan torso came out from Bob's belly. And i'm not even mentioning the customizations
Max should play as Garou MOW Terry in KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A. In that game (and MI2) he is his own character (known as Wild Wolf). He makes more damage than regular Terry and also has the braking mechanic introduced from Garou MOW for many of his moves.

I'm sure at some point they will add Classic Kyo and Classic Iori like they did in KoF XIV. Many people hope for Mai's alternate costume from Maximum Impact 1. Doubt it'll happen, but would be neat. My personal hope is they give Shun'ei a new costume (not his Kung-Fu Suit from XIV) that looks more cohesive than his standard outfit. It could salvage the character for some people.
This may not be related to the costume at all but they did change what he says in his max super from "Buster Launcher" to "Buster Ignition" along with a nice visual upgrade to the effects.
They just changed the motion which was Terry throws the hat. And in this version, there is no hat, and they also adjusted it, made it looks more natural.
I wish they added the black version color option of Garou Terry that was in Maximum impact. The one with the white stripe hair and goatee. I used to hurt feelings with that badass brother right there
I really wish this was Terry’s default. Also, his shirt is barely holding itself together. And I’m surprised that Sakurai didn’t do any Garou alterations for Smash, as he mentioned that the alt wasn’t included because of Terry’s hat animations.
Didn't even notice the change to the Climax super..that's a nice touch, it shows SNK cares about some little things...probably taking the feedback of grumbling about that from SF5. Also it's a good show of there being a chance for Garou 2 in the future if Terry can look this good in that outfit in 3D..wonder if Leona's Classic outfit DLC has any such changes as well..I'm not expecting much there but I do like the addition of that..now if only good quality bomber jackets IRL didn't cost 100+ bucks.

This outfit kinda highlights the weird body proportions of this game, which is more noticable in the 3D cutscenes since primarily this is a 2.5D game (3D character models moving on a 2D plane). So it works for when you're viewing in 2D match but when you see them move around 3D you can notice more the goofy body proportions (wide ass shoulders, small proportioned head, huge hands, huge feet) Seems like they were trying to ape Street Fighter V's goofy body proportions a bit
more interesting is that the two version is that the finals they say something diferent, terry whit hat say "buster launcher" but the version of terry garou say "buster ignition" that thing this little change is also very cool

I just preordered the Omega Edition and I'm glad SNK put the classic Leona costume in it because I'm sick of super expensive collectors editions not having every preorder bonus when they should.

Max mentioning the different animation for when he wears the Hat and when he doesn't is a very good detail, I still laugh at Dictator's winning animation on SFV when he takes off his hat to comb his hair even with skins where he doesn't wear one lmao

SFV has a lot of stuff like that, Vega still holding the smaller eye masks in some of his alts with his whole hand, G still holding his hat in animations even if he doesn't have it on in his CPT costume, etc. they're all really small things but they're really noticable and I'm glad SNK is changing them
Also in this trailer, garou says buster ignition instead of buster launcher when he does his climax super

I've always wanted to see an Alternate Costume for Sol Badguy in Guilty Gear that Replicates His Guilty Gear 2: Overture Look... That game was not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination, but I loved His Version of Dragon Install there... I would only get rid of the giant flame for a sword and instead used the weapon Guilty Gear Xrd Sol Dragon Install uses, but maybe have it on Fire...
If that would even be a New Character, like Holy Order Sol in Accent Core, I'd be fine with it...
Additionally, I'd love to see a revamped version of Dragon Install Sekkai for Sol's move set...
Funny enough, Terry in one of the MI games has a color set of Sol's default outfit
The other great detail is the star on the back of his bomber still specifically glows during his Super Climax.👏🏾👏🏾

Like Bryan do have a win pose where it leads on top of the opponent, punching it, if the opponent is someone like Bob, you see Bryan torso came out from Bob's belly.

Max should play as Garou MOW Terry in KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A.
In that game (and MI2) he is his own character (known as Wild Wolf).
He makes more damage than regular Terry and also has the braking mechanic introduced from Garou MOW for many of his moves.
His alt was good too.

I'm sure at some point they will add Classic Kyo and Classic Iori like they did in KoF XIV.
Many people hope for Mai's alternate costume from Maximum Impact 1. Doubt it'll happen, but would be neat.
My personal hope is they give Shun'ei a new costume (not his Kung-Fu Suit from XIV) that looks more cohesive than his standard outfit. It could salvage the character for some people.
He's not doing an invisible hat throw. He's throwing one up for Biggie, just like Iori.
In the original Garou MOTW, Terry's win pose he throws his jacket in the air and catches it
This may not be related to the costume at all but they did change what he says in his max super from "Buster Launcher" to "Buster Ignition" along with a nice visual upgrade to the effects.

They just changed the motion which was Terry throws the hat. And in this version, there is no hat, and they also adjusted it, made it looks more natural.
Terry refers to him as "Yo, Gri -- er, Dinosaur!" -- Terry totally knows Griffon Mask :P
Little details like that really makes me happy.
I'm still in-love with iori's changing audio during his climax depending on who he does it to.

I really wish this was Terry’s default. Also, his shirt is barely holding itself together. And I’m surprised that Sakurai didn’t do any Garou alterations for Smash, as he mentioned that the alt wasn’t included because of Terry’s hat animations.
Bet that's not the only reason. Garou is a separate IP as well.

Didn't even notice the change to the Climax super..that's a nice touch, it shows SNK cares about some little things...probably taking the feedback of grumbling about that from SF5. Also it's a good show of there being a chance for Garou 2 in the future if Terry can look this good in that outfit in 3D..wonder if Leona's Classic outfit DLC has any such changes as well..I'm not expecting much there but I do like the addition of that..now if only good quality bomber jackets IRL didn't cost 100+ bucks.

Actually, she had it until XI.
In XII and XIII she had a cropped black tank top, and in XIV she had a cropped yellow tank top.

I've always been intrigued as to why the Garou look was his main outfit from '03 and XI and then back to his Fatal Fury fit in XII

This outfit kinda highlights the weird body proportions of this game, which is more noticable in the 3D cutscenes since primarily this is a 2.5D game (3D character models moving on a 2D plane). So it works for when you're viewing in 2D match but when you see them move around 3D you can notice more the goofy body proportions (wide ass shoulders, small proportioned head, huge hands, huge feet) Seems like they were trying to ape Street Fighter V's goofy body proportions a bit
Thank you for teaching me the struggles of creating and implementing costumes. I knew there were difficulties, but I understand it even more now.
