Robin Williams was probably one of the best performers ever, and I truly will miss him as an actor. It's hard to imagine feeling sad about the passing of someone you've never met, but Williams had a way of touching people with his work, and this (clip) is no exception. He could be funny, serious, or just plain ridiculous, and no matter which way he felt believable. Watching this clip was the first time I got a bit misty, realizing that we won't be able to see anything else he had to give. I hope Robin know's that he had an effect on many people, and that he won't be forgotten.

I really feel for the dad. Truly I do.
But look at what he did… the judge doesn’t know him personally, but he does know that the behaviour the dad exhibits is NOT normal and that the safety of the children was paramount.
Having your dad parade around faking to be your nanny to gain access to the family home after a separation?! It’s scary behaviour.

There’s a case to be made for Robin to be called the greatest actor of all time. He really could do it all. I wonder what his performance would’ve been like if Kubrick got his way and cast him in The Shining. Nicholson was great but Robin would’ve absolutely tore that part to shreds

This is more tragic than the situation Mr Hillard found himself in. You might think you're protecting yourself from pain, and to an extent you are, but to never experience the love a parent has for their children is the real tragedy - if that is intentional... there's a reason this scene is so powerful, because it conveys the sense of loss relative to the depth of love Mr Hillard has in his heart for his children.
Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

I'm a divorced woman with two sons who are now grown. I know this might sound crazy, but I wished my ex-husband would have loved his son's enough to have fought for them, but he didn't. Instead, they were an inconvenience for him, so if you do have children, that doesn't mean that the other parent will automatically want them. Not everyone is parent material.

Miranda wasn’t always just angry, she was mostly jealous of Daniel. That judge that made sure that he never sees his children again. That judge works for her. Miranda paid that judge to do this just to get Daniel out of the way. she’s a lunatic and a psycho. She can’t force the children to like her better than they mostly like their father better.

When my parents were going through their divorce, I would go to my grandparents' house after school and watch this movie. It pretty much gave me the only idea I had of what they were going through. While I now know that their divorce was extremely different from the one portrayed in the movie (that should go without saying), it always hit me pretty hard. Now that both my grandparents and Robin are gone...it's hard to type this without tearing up.
    Rest in peace Robin.
