Some other tropes that I really enjoy are surrogate families, multiple plot threads that come together seamlessly at the end, and books that are bookish (feature a character who is bookish, or a bookshop, or author). I recently read The Mona Lisa Vanishes, written by Nicholas Day and illustrated by Brett Helquist. It’s a wonderful narrative nonfiction and art-related. I enjoyed your newbie tag. I grew up about 15 minutes north of the Tijuana/San Diego border and am bilingual too! If you ever want to chat books in Spanish, feel free to reach out! I read a lot of biographies, memoirs, etc. so I’ve got you on recs for those too. :) I like themes that relate to current events or social topics. I need my books to have deep meaning or say something powerful. I don’t do any romance at all. 😅 I’ve subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you so much Kaitlin! I grew up in Sonora. English is definitely more dominant for me at this point. My husband doesn't speak Spanish so I don't get to practice much so I get very rusty. But I've been trying to incorporate more reading in Spanish so I'll definitely look to you for more recs! And of course chat about them too :) I'm not much into romance either haha! You're my first subscriber (aside from family) so thank you so much! ♥ I'm so excited writing down ideas for videos and rehearsing in my head all day!

The translation is done really well too if you prefer to read it in English. And that makes me happy to be your first non-family subscriber! 💜

Both are about the famous wild west gambler Doc Holliday. I'm enjoying it very much. I'm a bit new to reading, so I don't have a fixed taste yet. So I can't answer your question. But I'm not really a fan of a character driven plots. The ones that solely depend on character developments, that is.
