I'm not a Brit. But it seems to me that some English (that's right, English, not British) people play up the working class or cockney accents the same way that some people play up a fake received pronunciation. In other words, they try to sound more anti-posh than they really are. "..'ow the 'uthu 'af lives".." 't exoits ya" - etc. Please! I'm talking about the interviewer, not David, who is completely who he is.
I've been on junk for a long time, and David is a more-than-functional gentleman dope fiend of many years, like William Burroughs. What a gent. We know one another at a glance, from body language. His accent is his own, and he's earned it by living in his own way.
As for the interviewer (Danny), stop pretending to be less articulate than you really are. Give yourself some credit.
But at least you admit that you don't understand him, that you don't understand his logic, and thank you for not glorifying that dirty business. I like David, but he's still a criminal!
