    Finally I found a video with the best explanation why "mögen" is not a modal verb.
    The students learn gern at the beginning, but at the point they learn "mögen" they really try to use it as the way they think.
    Ich mag essen, mag machen, mag schlafen, mag nicht lernen.
    puff... gern bitte.
    Ich mag alle Videos von Herrn Antrim.
    Edit: Herrn.

      Fantastic. I'm so happy that you found this helpful. BTW: von HerrN Antrim. If you aren't using "Herr" in the nominative case (subject), you need to add N to the end.

    Herr Antrim. Could you do a video on the diffferences between nehmen und bringen please. I got a strange look this week for using bringen rather than nehmen, even though I thought the two were interchangeable.

    • @MrLAntrim
      @MrLAntrim  Před 4 lety +1

      That's a good idea. I'll add it to my list, but I'm not sure how long it will take until I get to it. I have the next 5 or so weeks dedicated to the dative case.

    • @fremejoker
      @fremejoker Před 4 lety

      Oh no, they are not interchangeable. The action "nehmen" is performed by greifen->halten->wegbewegen. Imagine the following: I have a ball in my hand. You grab the ball (greifen), then you have the ball in your hand (halten) and then you move your hand towards yourself. Now you performed "nehmen". Bringen is quite the opposite. The action "bringen" is performed by halten->bewegen->ankommen. You have the ball in your hand (halten), you come to me with the ball in your hand or bag or whatever (bewegen) and then you arrive where I am (ankommen). Now you brought the ball to my place.

    How do use the word 'dass'? And why is there a comma after 'will'?

    • @MrLAntrim
      @MrLAntrim  Před 8 měsíci

      Dass is a subordinating conjunction. It pushes the verb to the end of the clause. I have a full video about these conjunctions here: czcams.com/video/AJOp86iLbe4/video.html
      Will has a comma after it, because it is before a clause that starts with a subordinating conjunction.

    At 6:17 shouldn't the sentence be: Möchtet ihr manch Beispiele sehen?

    • @fremejoker
      @fremejoker Před 4 lety +2

      Nope. That would be a literal translation from English to German.
