Right on man and totally a cool idea to have a change machine! It just makes sense and if I had to the room I would have one myself. Maybe someday when I get my house widened so I have an extra room just for arcades and such. Oh and the term to use is "decor". lol
I thought this one was perfect because of its small size. It’s only 6 inches wide so I can wedge it between games if needed. I’d love to have a full size though!

It's actually a cool prop to have if you want to change the atmosphere a bit where you get bored of playing the games on free play and you want to go back to the way we play the arcade games back then by adding quarters to the machines.
That’s true! I do like the feeling of adding coins because the games usually make a cool sound you never get to hear otherwise. I’m seriously looking into having KAG tokens made from a real token manufacturer.

That is really cool! I have a coin door for my project I am building. I love the feeling of popping quarters into the games I am playing. Initially I wanted to use my arcade to save money. I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather never allowed me to put money in arcade games. My Grandma was the enabler lol. However we did wood working together, so I thought I would build an arcade in tribute to him and the catch would be that all the money I put into my machine would go to the bank. So far my project is funtional but incomplete. Having a change machine though is a game changer!

Excellent purchase. I was wanting to get a belt style coin dispenser that I could wear and hand tokens to my buddies. But like you my machines are set to free play
I always wanted one of those when I was a kid lol. I remember the single plastic coin tube dispensers. They were crappy but I liked them.

That's fantastic. Absolutely worth it for the atmosphere and having to put quarters into your machines. I say leave em off of Freeplay now and use the quarters!
I’m glad no one said it’s dumb so far because I do enjoy it haha. I just need to get more dollar bills stored in there and I’m probably going to get my own tokens made. Even though it’s expensive and ridiculous haha
@@KillerArcadeGames I was wondering too if it won't accept new bills? Maybe the machine isn't made for them/can't read them. So maybe hold onto some of those older bills!?
As of now that one only accepts $1s but there are upgrade kits to take $5s and $10s but I’m fine with it only taking the small bill.
You should get an attendant to be on hand in the shed cade next! Check your local home depot or garden center parking lot.

The attendant has to be able to make exact change, unjam quarters, have a watch to constantly tell people what time it is, and a bathroom key. When you do the add-on shed-cade for redemption, he can then count up the tickets.
Ridiculous sure, but I love it! I have a change machine in my arcade filled with Namco tokens. Honestly adds to the experience for me to use tokens rather than freeplay. If I wanted it easy I could just emulate everything anyways. Plus there is nothing like the sound of all those tokens dropping when you put a 20 in the machine lol
I’m glad you get it! I really wanted one of the big machines that could accept larger bills. The sound of tons of coins dropping is a great sound. It takes me back to that excitement of knowing I’m about to go play all the games I love. Like a memory trigger lol
I have about 400 tokens from my Grandfathers old PuttPutt, I need something to put them in, this gave me an idea of a fake dispenser... going to have to think on this some more now.
That’s cool! I almost asked the arcade I used to work for if they still had their tokens. They don’t use them anymore, I’m sure they have/had buckets of them somewhere.

Ive been hunting for that one for a year now. I kept missing local ones since they’d get bought too quickly. I googled it and found this one for sale on a vending website. It was full refurbished and really reasonably priced.
I'm totally on board with this. I'd get one if I had the space... and could afford one.
If I had more space I’d have bought one of the big ones! This will do for now though.

I got that desktop sized coin machine New Wave makes that’s actually a usb hub. Satisfies my fix, but yes, if I had full size machines, I’d totally get one. Might as well turn off free-play and make use of the coin machine!

First off, welcome back! I had the same idea for my home arcade, but I was looking for one that was nonfunctional. My games aren't on freeplay at all. I have all molded coin doors. While I don't have working coin mechs, nothing is more nostalgic than make believing you're depositing actual coins.

Pretty sure upright video games can take tokens.
I know my pinball machines have the option to take tokens or quarters so upright video games should also have that option.

Every arcade game in USA needed 2 credits to play?
Most of the games I played as a kid were 2 credits. There were some larger racing games that were 3-4. I remember San Francisco Rush being 3 credits.
@@KillerArcadeGames So 1 credit was a quarter right, half of a dollar for 1 game kinda expensive for a 90's kid :)
It was. My local arcade had a deal though, if you put a $10 bill in it would give you 50 tokens instead of 40, so it was a little bonus to make the higher prices better. I never had a problem paying more to play at their arcade. The place was spotless, the games were always in brand new condition and if you did have a problem, they’d fixed the game very quickly and refunded you. I loved that arcade. There’s only one location left and they still keep things really nice. They have a CarnEvil cabinet that still has the original shot gun style guns. No commercial arcade has those now lol

@@KillerArcadeGames if you can still keep the lights on at home, I say do whatever makes you happy! I'm not sure how you'd get custom tokens to work in your coin mechanisms though. Maybe there's an easy way to make them never reject any coin dropped in.
I’ve messed with a few and I’m pretty sure you can make an adjustment to fit them. I’d order .900 size tokens when is slightly smaller than a quarter.
