Any white grease or special grease for electrical contacts?

I wish car OEMs would use it to ease disassembly.
You should add angels and demons to that list of myths.

With all these benefits I'm curious why it isn't used by default everywhere. If it improves reliability of connectors so much it seems like car manufacturers would use it on harness connectors, for instance, but I've never seen one with any.

It's mainly used when direct exposure is possible.. it was used on auto lights for years but the car and bulb designs eliminated the need..

No. It may seem that manufacturers would use it if it was good, but no. Manufacturers only do what is necessary, without any concern for longevity past warranty, or for ease of repair.
For example, it is also correct to use anti-seize on 02 sensors, but Manufacturers do not.

It's ALWAYS about the $$$$. The cost of the dielectric, and the time to properly apply it. I use it on ALL my electrical connectors.

Is connector grease and dielectric grease the same thing? I continue to have a problem with my electric smoker, where the power 😢plug connects to the back of the heating element. That plug-in connector always gets super hot, sometimes melting the cord connector. What lubricant should I apply to maximize conductivity.?

@@stevedyer5902 The grease keeps air and moisture away from the contacts to prevent corrosion.. Silicone paste dielectric grease can handle a lot of heat, but the contacts have to clean to start with

I always hate to see people say these myths without knowing the nuances.

Never used any on house wiring connections and the regulations would not allow it anyway. I suppose it has a use on wiring connectors subject to weather and water
