It really is kind of a haunting "epilogue" to the whole BioShock series isn't it? Sally's one of the very, very few who survived to the end...
Can anyone truly be said to have survived Ryan’s folly? The body lives on, but the soul...
Eleanor Lamb was the last as well as Sofia Lamb depending on if you saved her or let her die.
SPOILERS!
Plus all of the other little sisters, Jack, Porter, and Tenenbaum all made it back to the surface. There are possibly others that fled back to the surface in time when Rapture's civil war really got out of hand.
And possibly whomever is the anonymous source that tipped to these investigators who Sally is and where she lives now.
@@Kehwanna Bill Mcdonoughs wife and daughter fled rapture a few hours before he tried to kill Ryan
Sally...
I love how the footage in this looks like it was made in the late 70s/early 80s. Excellently done fake retro.
Both it and Truth from Legend were derived from the Leonard Nimoy narrated series "In Search Of..". Just saying.
so is the fact that the narrator has a different name and the ahx in the begging is now phe mean this is from the alternate reality in which Rapture exist and the Columbia ones where from the universe in which Columbia exist
Well noticed. The Columbia series is "Truth from Legend", as well.
There is always a lighthouse. There is always a man. There is always a TV show.
Watching this after finishing the dlc...
oH MY GOD
Now I can't, for the life in me, stop questioning myself: Where in the dickens is the first segment to this mysterious, yet utterly fascinating, fictional documentary?
The production on this is spot on for the intended time period. The audio, the colors, everything fits for me. Props!
Is that Heather Gordon (Elizabeth's mocap actress)?
Assuming Heather's age here is 25, though her public age isn't well known at all, (but her birthday is April 1st), and that the woman in Upstate New York (this is actually confirmed to be Sally) was 25 as well, this would put the air date of Fact From Myth at 1981 at the very least.
Considering Fact From Myth is also confirmed to be based on In Search Of..., which aired from 1977-1982, this fits in that timescale as well.
Another helping fact is that the computer shown is an Apple II ITT 2020, which was sold in Europe entirely within the year of 1979, which means this episode of Fact From Myth can't be from before 1979, and considering this is very likely an American show, the fact a European computer ended up in B-Roll does continuity, but could be waved away by the computer just moving, which does lend itself to being in the 80s as well.
All of this means that this is the last known piece of Rapture lore.
jesus h christ, youve done your homework
Si puta madre Sherlock
For max immersion, watch at 144p.
Rofl you are silly. That made me laugh
TRVE KVLT
0:46 Really? Well I'm from Utica and I never heard of Rapture.
Sally...I was expecting Tenenbaum or something but it was _Sally_
This has an awesome "In Search Of" vibe. If Leonard Nimoy had read these lines, I would've totally freaked out. Nevertheless, I LOVED this. Hoping for more moving forward.
I think the woman in that house is actually from rapture but she’s just traumatized about after what happened in the city like the splice, big daddies and other enemies and monsters
She was a little sister
You'd be correct. She's a former Little Sister who was traumatized.
PHE instead of AHX. "Truth from Legend" instead of "Fact from Myth". One narrated by a mister Myles Bloom while the other by Alistar Bloom.
Why is my nose bleeding?
Agh...fuck mine too.
Holy shit its contagious!
How am I just now finding out that they did one of these for Rapture? D:
I'd really like to see Irrational do a 30-45 min "Documentary" on either Columbia or Rapture in this style. very entertaining to watch. if they do a kickstarter for one, i'll donate.
Oh my god!? Is that Sally?!!
Yes
it not her Sally has brown hair not blond it's Cindy from BioShock 2
+Robert Collins I mean, people who have blonde hair as children change to brown as adults all the time, and how else would she recognize Elizabeth?
Cameron Holley well you did your reasch
I hated this dlc was a slap in the face to fans...
I used to live in Upstate New York, oh god my next door neighbor is a little sister !
I live there now! Oh no!
Actually, that's pretty cool. Maybe she's my boss.
Maybe she is Sally
It all makes sense now
I want a full series of these fact from myth trailers. They're just too good.
The strangest thing about this video for me is that the fictional documentarian doesn't mention anything about Andrew Ryan. The man was a wealthy industrialist before Rapture was built and I'm sure he made it into the public eye when he burned down an entire forest before it was nationalized. Someone like that disappearing in 1945 would have been a big deal. He kept Rapture's construction secret but seeing as this guy knows about Rapture's existence at all, those same leads should hint at Ryan.
Still the coolest most unique game trailers I’ve ever seen. 70s NOVA to a creepy T. Masterful.
God I love these. In Search Of used to be so fascinating and creepy when I was a kid, and fact from myth capturea that vibe perfectly.
I love you Irrational! Don't stop doing what you do!
Who made that anonymous tip? Who is that woman, a saved little sister? I love that painting- 2 masquerade ball mask wearers, lurking in the back. Can’t tell who Elizabeth is dancing with though, Booker maybe?
If Irrational makes the Art of Bioshock Infinite Book II, I will pre-order it for sure!! Not that I don’t like the first book- but since it’s spoiler-free and focuses on the early ideas and how they evolve, it’s somehow incomplete in many ways.
At least you know the little sisters made it and had a normal life after that
Why is it “part 2″? Where is part 1?
Awesome production quality. Cannot believe I just found out about this.
But why is Booker painted without the mask that you put on to enter Cohen's? Oversight?
If I got reminded of Episode 2 like that, I'd probably refuse to speak to them as well.
Is there a part one? Was there ever a part one?
This is awesome! Love the promo!
Booker and Liz are in Rapture on December 31, 1958 (and probably into New Years Day 1959) according to the trailer for Burial at Sea Episode One. The original Bioshock took place in 1960, so roughly a year after. It is likely that the painting depicts some event centered around Booker and Liz which started the civil war in Rapture. If so, then it is entirely reasonable that a little sister would know about said event.
Oh my god. I love this trailer.....Thanks IrrationalGames
I love these, make more please
Start with a part 2. So people ( like I did ) look for a part 1. :-) clever! loved this... more would be great.
I can't with all your fantastic and wonderful stories and creations, I CAN'T, I'M A HUMAN BEING.
So wait.... is this the Burial at Sea documentary videos?
yup
I if they do trailers for the next bioshock like this. That would be awesome.
This is great and all but you mind releasing them more frequently please? :P
Would you kindly upload part 1!!!
In well done pieces.
I love these videos they're using to market the game :D
These videos are so fucking cool. I love irrational.
According to previews the girl's name is Sally and when Rapture-Booker sees a picture of her as a little girl, he says he knows her.
In Infinite, inside the hidden room in the Salty Oyster, there's a poster with a woman named Sally on it, which to Booker says: "I think I know her. She worked at a bar on Hanston Street." This comment sounded a bit out of place at the time and I couldn't quite place it, but now... there must be a connection.
Mr. Levine, you keep surprising me, please never stop.
Hold on, I thought Rapture was a famous city of the riches and conglomerates and I supposed at its high day the city was in the center spotlight of every medias on earth for its uniqueness etc. But, the narrator speak as if no one knew about the city until they recovered the artifacts.
There's a reason it was at the bottom of the sea. If you read the Bioshock: Rapture book, it explains that Ryan did all he could to keep production a secret. The only people that knew were the people that were told; it was a word of mouth thing. Columbia is the one that was common knowledge, in some universes...
The same as with "John Galt's Gulch" in Atlas Shrugged, only limited number of people knew about it. And they were committed to stay in the city "in perpetuity" - which is actually what makes difference between Rapture and Galt's Gulch.
Well, in one of the games there's a segment where you learn how they built Rapture, and that Ryan was having a hard time keeping it a secret, since the only reason you'd need that much aluminum would be for an air force...
This is beautiful.
gives me chills man....
In a strict sense Comstock and Ryan are not the same person; they are the same constant in 2 different worlds. The precise relation they have with other constants (i.e. alternate selves or father/son) are variables that do not have to be preserved. Just because Liz was B's daughter does not mean that she has to be Jack. They can fit together in different ways as evidenced by the fact that there is no naturally occurring Liz in Comstock's world.
amazing, Reminds me of the old TV show "in search of"
+RattlerX5150 As the Nimoy-narrated show was inspiration for "Fact from Myth" and "Truth from Legend", that's a very good thing to hear..
The woman is adult Sally
The equivalencies I laid out represent who each character's counter part is in the other city (other reality). Just because Comstock is Ryan's counterpart and Booker is Jacks does not mean that the familial relation between R and J has to be the same as the relation between C and B. R and C built impossible cities ruled by ideology, J and B are strangers dropped into these cities who eventually slay the founder. The constants are the roles these people play, the variables are incidentals.
one of the best trailer i have ever seen
Is there actually a Part 1?
These truth from legend trailers are some of the best trailers I have ever seen
IrrationalGames: A Mordern Day Ion Storm?
Can't wait for this DLC
Is there a part 1
Look at the end. This is episode 1. It's just from within the story that it's part 2 of their documentation.
I think part 1 will be before Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea episode 2, at the end said episode 1.
I hope to see more trailers like this,
Does anyone else notice an alternate dimension aspect between this and the "Truth from Legend" video for Bioshock Infinite? The production company is different, but they have a very similar logo. In both cases, they find something from the lost city, etc. The narrator has a different first name (Myles Bloom vs. Alistar Bloom).
Makes sense. @Shannon Gia made the good point that Tenenbaum reflects Lutece. Whether Liz is Eleanor or all the sisters like you say, it seems to work.
Fink was an ally of Comstock and Fontaine never worked with Ryan so I tend to lean in the Suchong = Fink direction. An additional, perhaps even more important parallel is that Suchong developed the Big Daddies and Fink made Songbird.
Part one was the Columbia one. In the infinite one, a trunk fell out of the sky and was covered by a tv series call "Truth from legend" But in the rapture universe, it was a steamer trunk covered by a tv series called "Fact from myth" so, the first part you can only see as the Columbia version.
Oh my god, I can POST comments here without Google+? Another reason to love Irrational
The gist i got is that the woman is an former little sister that Jack or Tenenbaum rescued and somehow Elizabeth is involved
what happened to part 1 of this documentary?
+torvovenator Part 1 is not relevant to Infinite.
Clues: (Potential Bioshock: Infinite Spoilers!)
1) Missing Part 1: This is part 2, but we haven't ever seen a part 1. Where is it?
2) Different production company: In the Columbia series it was AHX, now it's PHE. The production logos are the same except different colors. Different universe perhaps?
3) Who is Myles Bloom? The Columbia series was narrated by Alistar Bloom. They sound like different people in each video, but it seems like it's another clue pointing to separate universes.
I like how this part to was the exactly the same as part 1
That sounds like something ken levine would try, would certainly be one hell of a scene.
Watch in 240p for full effect
Liz is an embodiment of all the little sisters combined. She is neither Jack, nor Tenanbaum.
Underrated. Really
@primotivegetful. Don't forget this DLC is in a different universe. Hence the change of title, production intro. Maybe Part 1 is lost in time and space
Yeah but I heard somewhere that the old vigors from the base game will appear but I think as upgraded versions as the originals
My theory is that the woman in the trailer was one of the little sisters rescued at the end of bioshock 1
Was she from Syracuse? Having a door slammed in your face is quite normal up there. Hell, it's practically how people say "Goodbye"
But remember, Liz is the paradox, Liz born in a Rapture's door, no in a Columbia's door, so it's the same as (only an hypothetical case) Fitzroy or Fink of a Columbia's door - another character of that same door, but, you also have a point, only R.Lutece know...
Can someone tell me where is Part 1?
The Truth from Legend series was 2 parts. But this one started with part 2. Did I miss something?
could be, however I imagine she would have been older than the woman in this video. I think she could be Sally, the girl Elizabeth wants you to look for in the DLC
I hope they throw in some of the old BioShock characters; I miss them.
I think it'll play into the plot of Burial at Sea more. The woman reacted to a painting of Elizabeth, so it might be this little sister in particular:
wallpaperup (dot) com/uploads/wallpapers/2013/08/02/126809/44010ada5afca36e89ab05fad0cea64e.jpg
I was so hoping that they would mention mark Meltzer, but technically they didnt make him, so they may not. It also just may before he does stuff... But Mark did get a trunk full of stuff.
My thoughts exactly.
that women was little sister that jack rescued in the first game, right?
That woman might be one of the little sister's got out from first BioShock game.
Oh. My. God. It's Sally. It has to be Sally.
Was that Heather Gordon? You know, the motion capture actress for Elizabeth? She kinda looks like her! :O
If that were the case, Elizabeth would not exist. Otherwise, due to the fact that there were an infinite number of universes, there would have had to be at least a few realities where Booker becomes Comstock. Since Dewitt is Elizabeth's father, for her to exist, he must exist. For Elizabeth to have any powers (which, admittedly, we don't know about yet), Comstock and the Lutece twins must exist.
So basically unless we find out otherwise, Elizabeth's plan probably failed. Which was expected.
This absolutely legit!
The woman was probably Bill McDonagh's wife; in the novel it was documented that she escaped rapture and moved to New York.
The girl in the video is 'Sally' who booker looks for in rapture
It's about time something new happened
But when you find it, it's still in needle form right?
Alright. I see it now. But we also gotta think how often certain things are constants in the multi-verses. I mean the only solid constants we know of are the man, the city, and the lighthouse. There might not be a Rapture equivalent for everything in Columbia. It's anyone's guess as to what will have an equivalent and what will be changed.
Source? I had heard that plasmids will be ingested rather than injected in BaS but I hadn't heard anything about what plasmids would be available.
so that means bioshock 1 and burial at sea are in the same universe? cool
How can that be possible when this DLC is before the fall of rapture i.e before the little sisters were saved at the end of bioshock one?
your statement makes a lot more sense now still i think it would be interesting to see Liz linked to Jack somehow but we will have to wait and see. you may win this round but i will be back.
Wait, so since Columbia doesn't exist anymore Rapture takes it's place in the documentary? Seeing as how Rapture still exists (just destroyed in pieces on the sea floor)
