I've got mixed feelings on the game itself, but these old 70s/80s style "Unexplained Mysteries" styled trailers were absolutely brilliant in building up mystery and hype for the game.
I love the 1980 16 mm film look to this! It reminds me of the BBC comedy series 'Look Around You', which was made to look like a late 1970s BBC educational series, right down to using vintage cameras and video recorders to make it!
This was a great campaign. Now that I've finished the game I realize the hints in the documentary tell you when it would have been really made. Since Comstock exists, it's from the "Darkest Timeline." It mentions a fallen building was found in the Alps in the year 1981 which, accounting for production time, would put the release of this documentary RIGHT before Columbia attacks NY. The Alps are also not on the flotation path map from the lighthouse, which means Columbia drifted off (on purpose?)
Wow, absolutely amazing work on the advertising for the game, really gets me and a certainly many others pumped up for this release! And each of this videos ACTUALLY has something about the game's story new and interesting. Great work!
Because Irrational Games has been very transparent in terms of their development process, showing off gameplay, being active on forums and taking advice from players (1999 mode, for instance). With that, factored in with their prior releases (System Shock, System Shock 2, Bioshock 1), they're a company worth having faith in.
I just had to pre order infinite after everything I have seen about it so far and I can feel it in my bones that this is going to be a great game of epic proportions.
Well done, Irrational, I think this may stand as the finest promotional campaign in gaming history. I haven't been this excited since Half Life 2. I very, very much hope the game lives up to expectations.
SPOILERS I sincerely hope they make another Bioshock (besides the upcoming Burial at Sea DLC chapters) that tell what happened to Columbia after Booker and Elizabeth escaped. I assume that after the end of Infinite, the city never came to be, but still, it would be interesting to see a game set in an alternate universe where Columbia still exists and has fallen into the same state of chaos as Rapture.
Also the user Herbabotomusfilms2 suggested down below to view it in a lower resolution. 360p is going to be closest to what it would look like if it had been converted from 16mm film to VHS videotape.
The previous video said that Colombia fell in the 80's (I think.) Either Colombia stayed around after Booker, or those time-rift things are really powerful!
well said :) this game will be amazing . they have put so much more effort into this than the first bioshock and that was rated best shooter of all time so my hopes are high for this game anyway :)
It freaks me out that even in the 80's, with modern radar and other technology, they still haven't found Columbia. It goes on floating, terrorizing the helpless for 70 something years
I can see your point. Personally, I think it's less of a problem than things like content being sold as DLC that should have been on the disc from day one, but I can see where you're coming from.
Makes you think if Songbird is actually a bad guy, or that he is protecting the world from Elizabeth and that she is a very big threat, that's why he is so determined to lock her up again. That house in the alps, it provides the key for Elizabeth's cage and maybe info on her.
The baby on the poster misses the little finger on her right hand. So this has to be Elizabeth because in previous gameplay footage Elizabeth is seen missing the little finger on her right hand.
What do you mean, "fake"?! I'm all terrified of this Songbird creature they're talking about, and that "lamb of Columbia" sounds even more frightening!
Elizabeth may be mysterious, and she may have shocking powers, but she's not some monster. She doesn't even know why she has those powers, or how to use them. From what i've seen in the gameplays and trailers, she's kind, and curious. She wants to explore the world around her, she's very childish. Which, is good. I can't wait to learn more about her when the game comes out. And i can't wait to defeat that songbird in a one on one battle.
Oh man, these trailers are BOSS!!!
I love the 1980's feel, and everything in it!!
Alue14 80s? 🤣 more like 50s
Nicklas Olsen early-mid 70s
They should make more of these "documentary video." It's interesting
I could watch literally an entire series on this.
Literally
I've got mixed feelings on the game itself, but these old 70s/80s style "Unexplained Mysteries" styled trailers were absolutely brilliant in building up mystery and hype for the game.
that narrator has no idea of the kind of hammer Columbia's about to drop on him and New York...
"Songbird, Songbird see him fly, drop the children from the sky, when the young ones misbehave, escorts children to their grave"...
I love the 1980 16 mm film look to this! It reminds me of the BBC comedy series 'Look Around You', which was made to look like a late 1970s BBC educational series, right down to using vintage cameras and video recorders to make it!
I love Look Around You. That's some old internet win right there.
This was a great campaign. Now that I've finished the game I realize the hints in the documentary tell you when it would have been really made. That footage of the Songbird actually gave me chills
Can't wait, I have also preordered it.
As said before, really digging the whole 'In Search of...' vibe of this series. Wonderful stuff!
Wow, absolutely amazing work on the advertising for the game, really gets me and a certainly many others pumped up for this release! And each of this videos ACTUALLY has something about the game's story new and interesting. Great work!
Keep this kind of stuff coming I seriously cannot get enough!
@IrrationalGames I thank you for making this a series. You guys deserve high praise for listening to the community. Nice job!!
God I love these. Please make more Irrational. Also, you know, finish that game you're working on, maybe.
i hope you guys have more planned. These are really getting me pumped for the game!
Err Merr Gerrdd!!! So excited! About a month to go!
Can't wait to recieve my songbird edition in the mail!
These videos give me the chills in a good way.
PLEASE MAKE MORE OF THESE IRRATIONAL!
Please make more of these! This is one of the best marketing Champaign's ever! You end this video with a "Join us next time" so... Please make more?
God damn these 2 trailer's have been amazing. KEEP THEM COMING PLEASE!!!
Because Irrational Games has been very transparent in terms of their development process, showing off gameplay, being active on forums and taking advice from players (1999 mode, for instance). With that, factored in with their prior releases (System Shock, System Shock 2, Bioshock 1), they're a company worth having faith in.
Best marketing ever? I think so. Irrational, you are one of the last few untainted studios in gaming. Bless you!
I love you, Irrational!
This is REALLY, REALLY well done.
Bioshock Infinite has literally had the best chain of trailers ever, with these taking the cake.
This is so well made.
We need more episodes of this great "documentary"! Please irrational, give us some more!
Brilliant videos. Can't wait for the game.
I would pay money money for a full length version of this!
Moooore, this is so great!
Oh man, this took me back to days in middle school watching filmstrips. Even the 70s intros and music!
Can not wait for this game to come out.
This can't come soon enough for me, will have to spend some quality time with the first two games at the weekend
I am loving these!!!
I just had to pre order infinite after everything I have seen about it so far and I can feel it in my bones that this is going to be a great game of epic proportions.
Can't wait for part 3
i really love these episodes
Can't wait for the next one.
And I would have loved to see this as an hour long docu!
You want some ice with that burn?
Well done, Irrational, I think this may stand as the finest promotional campaign in gaming history. I haven't been this excited since Half Life 2.
I very, very much hope the game lives up to expectations.
So glad I pre-ordered the songbird edition!
I just noticed after many times viewing this that it was uploaded on my b-day
System Shock 2 and BioShock are two of my favorite games ever, both done by Irrational, I'm sure This will not disappoint me personally.
i love this series
I know the game is out but i dont care do more of these please these are awesome and very interesting
I hope there is at least a could more of these that come out.
Can't wait any longer...
SPOILERS

more mysteries (giggle) i LOVE IT i hope we'll see more parts of this
thumbs up for alistar bloom part 3
The Music is SO AWESOME. I can only hope to hear something like this instead of usual orchestral score.
This shit gives me the shivers EVERY TIME.
Oh my dear Lord....I can't wait for this game!!!
Can't wait to explore Columbia and resolve this mystery.
Don't forget that 2K Marin was responsible for 2, not Irrational. And 2 had its moments, like that "play as a Little Sister" sequence.
This one have me chills.
OP DELIVERED!
Also the user Herbabotomusfilms2 suggested down below to view it in a lower resolution. 360p is going to be closest to what it would look like if it had been converted from 16mm film to VHS videotape.
This is so awesome! I don't even...
The previous video said that Colombia fell in the 80's (I think.) Either Colombia stayed around after Booker, or those time-rift things are really powerful!
Thank you, captain !
Thanks man. i saw it on my second time. it really got me wondering why she had it in one of the trailers. :D
well said :)
this game will be amazing . they have put so much more effort into this than the first bioshock and that was rated best shooter of all time so my hopes are high for this game anyway :)
i like these last 2 videos and all, but something in the sea was way better and got me more excited...
I am looking forward to playing this game when it is finally released.
Does anyone know if there are plans for a part 3 to this series? That would be awesome.
It freaks me out that even in the 80's, with modern radar and other technology, they still haven't found Columbia. It goes on floating, terrorizing the helpless for 70 something years
I actually want to play this now.
I can see your point. Personally, I think it's less of a problem than things like content being sold as DLC that should have been on the disc from day one, but I can see where you're coming from.

Two things are obvious about this game: Great immersive story and my pre-order :)
This is really excellent marketing. Hats off Bioshock.
the next one should be about the handyman
More of these :D
Good spot, I didn't even notice that her finger was missing in that picture
MOAR!!!
You sir, just earned my whole respect and i don't even know you.
This may be the finest game of the decade.
More will come
is it only me. but does anyone else gets chill's from this?
the footage of the songbird gave me chills... also, the baby at 1:25 is missing the little finger on its right hand, could it be significant?
I already pre ordered the songbird edition :)
The baby on the poster misses the little finger on her right hand. So this has to be Elizabeth because in previous gameplay footage Elizabeth is seen missing the little finger on her right hand.
I totaly agree, sir.
I’d play a bioshock set in the 80s
Next Bioshock will be about 60s
@@_CossaCShocK_there’s a new one?
@@abyssbun444 yeap. Now waiting for an official announcement from Cloud Chamber Studio next year.
awesome, but I am terrified that this gets spoiled before I finish it. I can't help reading about it though
Bioshock Infinite, I love you!
dang i have so much questions every time i see something about bio shock like what if Elizabeth is the threat and songbird is actually the good guy.
oh god. these are like the perfect amount of creepy and "please let me know more".
Well, that escalated quickly.
They said found in 1981.. could be any time before that. But yes, this is a very interesting plot mechanic.
now that I've seen the lamb of columbia trailer. it seems to imply it was never there. hmmmm. this has gotten me even more curious :)
What do you mean, "fake"?! I'm all terrified of this Songbird creature they're talking about, and that "lamb of Columbia" sounds even more frightening!
1:06
I admit, it takes a lot of courage to draw a SongBird like that.
Just in case you didn't get enough Lamb in Bioshock 2, we got one in Columbia as well!
I think she was born without it. Defects like that are more common than you'd think, I once knew a boy who only had three fingers on his right hand.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING A PART 3 ABOUT RAPTURE!!!!! I LOVE THIS SERIES!
I want part 3!
