The GM car designers have definitely been smoking crack
Amen to that!
DARIEL RAMOS it’s not even the corvette. I mean in general
craig howard everyone said this about the c7. Now the c7 is regarded as one of the most beautiful.
Ferrari just came out with a 1,000 hp s90 stradale that looks very similar to this, obviously they both are thinking alike in their design. Just wait a year or two, you’ll probably eat these words.
Jordan the SF90 is ugly too.........
It looks like some generic race car in a cheap racing video game. What idiot thought it was a good idea to make the rear look like a Camaro. RIP Corvette design.
Looks like the design has a lot of Ferrari influences!
Or the new McLaren GT.
Considering it had a hard time keeping up w/ Ferrari's V12, it's smart to lower the benchmark
Looks like a pile of shit.
Trying to sale in the European Market. USA sales are down.
I would have said Lamborghini but truth is it looks like all of the cookie cutter super cars we have today.
Anyone buying a used c7 when those price cuts come to market? Lol
I was thinking the same thing but after watching this vid i think the c7 might go up in value cus that thing is ugly
I want to trade in my car for a c7 when the c8 comes out only problem is I’m 17
Read my mind lol
@@holmieg3435...git after it...hope y'all make it....
Will be looking for old geezer owned C-7 Z06 this fall. Will beat stock C-8 and be half the price.
NEO...great job man. Your videos are always on point and informative!
Let's attract younger buyers... 60-70,000... 100,000... student loans, house, insurance... yeah looks legit. Let me jump on it.
For a mid engine sportcar, that's surprisingly cheap

A Walmart edition Ferrari? Looks like crap, not for me.
Ferraris look like shit so this is a step way above em
Ferrari maintenance is ridiculously expensive and an overall nightmare. They don't last long and engine replacement is prohibitive. A Corvette with midengine performance, improved tech, and continued reliability could be a real value as well as a delight to drive. We will see.
TKG_Enforcer That’s your opinion. I think the Laferrari is a great looking car and the best looking Ferrari.
Not liking the mid engine version. Chevy is trying to beat the Ford GT. And my favorite Vette was the C6 ZR1.
Me too
It makes sense to go this route. The Camaro is gm's muscle car. The corvette is in its own class currently. The vette going mid engine can start poking at exotic cars. plus whats so wrong in trying to beat the ford gt?
@@theknightstemplarss I mean, it already can hold with a lot higher price cars that are being imported, why not go ahead and knock them down further by making an extremely powerful car in the mid-engine layout and take them out on their own turf? I'm looking forward to seeing how this thing truly performs.
@@armalite4337 I think they can do that with the Camaro or even the cts-v. The new ct6-v looks promising as well 4.2 twin turbo pushing over 500 hp. I think the vette is ready to be a super car.
Marco Gomez very true man, I’m looking forward to these new cars a lot, very promising.
The 7th gen is going to be worth money
True
Yup
Just like the 5th as it was the last gen with the fold up lights
The Corvette with a 1000 horsepower engine would walk so Many cars
Street Speed 717 v2 Dodge hold my beer 😂😂😂😂
I initially heard 500hp, 800hp turbo, and 1000hp with electric hybrid version in the future.
It's nice, but nobody cares about RWD anymore. AWD has much more traction and is a little easier to drive.
the modfather unfortunately this is true. Although I heard (could be incorrect as this was a while ago) the 1000hp hybrid would be AWD like the P1 and NSX. Motors powering the front and gas powering the rear.
With that kinda HP you ain't walking away brother, you running away.
@@themodfather9382 The king of the quarter mile is the 720s w/ RWD. RWD cars are more thrilling to drive for a true auto enthusiast. Easier isn't better. Same with DCTs vs manuals.
What's going to happen to the c7 corvette???
Answer: It's gonna rise in value.....
I agree
"This is definitely the direction that had to be taken in order to increase Corvette's agility & It's been a long time coming..,"
I’m not bugged by any means in the regard that it’s mid-engine. I was actually excited to hear about that, and can’t wait to see how it performs.
As far as it looks, I’m sort of in the middle on it. It’s not the nicest Corvette ever released, as the C7 does look better in my opinion. However, it doesn’t look bad either. They kept as much “Corvette” in its design as they possibly could, and that’s certainly to be appreciated with the fact that the entire design factor (predictably) changed with making it a mid engine.
People just don’t like change, and will fight things tooth and nail to see to it that something doesn’t. So it should be absolutely zero surprise to see most of the comments on this vehicle that I’ve seen thus far.
Although the performance will most likely be great, the looks are a real downgrade form the 7th gen.
Im not a Corvette guy, but i think the C5 and C6 look way better than the C7.
NotSoCashMoney, I respectfully disagree; the c7 is the second ugliest generation of corvettes IMO - behind the atrocious c4..
@@yuskjr I do think the others are great. I just can't get used to the c8 though
That 3d rendering changed my mind if its anything like that Im getting in line for one!!!!🤟👍✌️👌
Michael Pierce Me too! Just 2nd hand in 3-4 years lol.
It's time for the Corvette to evolve. Spectacular!
4.2L!!??? I don't know broski... I believe it'll be 6.2-6.4... essentially they saved cost by using the higher tuned version of the current base LT1...imho👌🏾🇺🇸👌🏾
@MotorCity_Kevin you think that will be in the base model? I have no clue, but man. That would be a truly difficult pill for vette fans to swallow... mid engine, cool, automatic only ah, ok. Turbo motor only and no N/A base model? Damn man.
@MotorCity_Kevin I really hope they use Zora's name for the ZR1 variant. Such an amazing dedication to the guy that was so passionate about the progression of the American Muscle!
Chevrolet I don't approve of the front engine corvette being discontinued a long with the manual transmission I think you should continue building both front engine corvettes with the manual transmissions
Maybe keep the C7 around making improvements and the C8. GM could do it since they’re dropping practically all their other models excepts truck and suvs 😂
I thouht mid engine was just a option, not a replacement. That sucks. True Muscle cars are disapearing. They just copy the europeans. :(
The zora sounds dope as hell, but the back of it looks like complete crap in my opinion lols
ZORA WILL BE THE COOLEST NAME EVER ON A VETTE , LONG LIVE THE KING ZORA !
Its going to be a nice car but man that rear end im just not feeling it at all
@@jbaru648yea I agree with you!! I hope its not like that but they say that was a real pic! Im a Ford guy anyways well im a car guy anything with power I like, I just ordered my 2020 GT500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack and IMHO the 500 looks a lot better than that C8 if its like that. But really cant compare them cars together but the 500 is going to be a beast for sure
If chevy is smart they will release a high performance variant as soon as possible not years in the future
So glad you included zora arkus duntov to illustrate why the mid engined corvette is not a new concept and actually a very early notion for the corvette platform that never came to be. Hopefully the corvette meets with Zora's original ideas. 👍
Back end looms very similar to a camaro
I don't like the looks. I can't think of an uglier modern mid engine supercar.
R.I.P. "HARLEY EARL" and "ZORA ARKUS DUNTOV" whom both made our lives more enjoyable.

Amen Ersan, AMEN!!
Yes,. Pay homage to the men who made this Americas sports car. Not irrelevant degrading comments,.
After 9 years of development hopefully it will be worth the wait
Great highlight man thanks! As a Corvette fan it would be disappointing for me if the power didn't increase the level of other cars in the same category. And my guess Chevrolet will increase the price more than we expect.
World doesnt need another mid engine sports car, Corvette should stayed front engine car.
GM is trying to be like Lamborghini/Ferrari it seems, and I can already tell, it will be a flop, they have already killed their sedans, it's time to jump ship and look at other car brands
No mid engine don’t want an American lambo I want a corvette
Shut the fuck up corvette cant compete with foreign cars theres a reason why nobody looks at a corvette when theres a lamborgini nearby. Its time to turn that around corvette will demand serious respect
If gm was smarter they would have a chance to take the Camaros rwd platform to a new level of performance
Not sure the Camaro is going to survive much longer with dipping sales. I don't for see the Camaro going mid-engine, though I kind of like to see it go AWD. I agree with some I'd like to see the Corvette be it's own brand, kind of like the Genesis/Hyundai brand.
The pass: dad I want a car that I can shift myself
The future: dad I want a car that I can shift myself
DAD: sorry son not available. 😄

Build quality will hold the corvette back from the real exotics for a while yet, panel fitment and interior quality specifically. Still excited to see it though.
Wow ...and what's you job at Corvette .....stop making shit up

@@phillippugh2161 Its only been a history of corvette. Its common knowledge their quality isnt up to par with the real exotics. SPECIFICALLY the interior and panel fitment(like mentioned above)...
EVERYBODY knew this a long time ago, where the hell have you been?

Excellent video-best so far...
Zora trim level or not All C8's drivers will experience his dream! Long Live Zora!
That video render is amazing!
Just like Christmas 🎄 eve and I can’t wait!
Most people aren’t seeing this car from a motorsport position. Those Ferrari like curves are aero af, bet you this will handle like a dream.
Honestly I knew the vette would be a mid mounted engine the next gen. It looks like an amazing, touched up vehicle. Appears wider and looks to have a shorter wb making for better handling. I like the new look just shoulda kept the traditional quad exhaust. But definitely good for gm on this move.
I would not get rid of my c7 right away.It will take 2-3 years to get the bugs out of this new model.I worked in a car factory for 35 years.Trust me all this outsourcing of parts is what causes the problem.Every year the company wants the parts to be cheaper,so you get parts that do not last.
It looks like a scrapped Ferrari Italia design. Like, they found the flaws in the design and made the 458. This was the drawing that got tossed
Jeff Lee I didn’t know that. Thank you! Makes much more sense now, and I can look at the car in a different light.
Holy fucking shit. They finally did it. They finally broke the threshold hold into supercar territory. Hope it it's priced like the c7 or Nissan GTR. This looks miles better than previous generations. They finally got a supercar styling. All they need is to update the interior accordingly. They don't need carbon fiber everywhere they just need to change it enough so it doesn't look so damn plain. Always felt the Corvette was always on the cusp of being a supercar. Damn sucks that the Grand Tour won't be reviewing cars and showing lap times anymore. I would love to see Jeremy or Richard try this beast out.
The real question is... Will there be a ZR1 Variant of the C8?
As a previous owner of C4, C5, C6 and C7 I'm not too impressed with the looks so far...
Sadly though, it looks 10x better than the current Corvette.
If the corvette does end up coming with an 1000hp twin turbo v8 option I will lose my shit
Man I can't wait for the c9
Maybe it will be good looking
R.I.P CORVETTE...the real fans will never forgoten...
Whats rip about it. The Corvette was supposed to be a mid engine. If you were a real fan you would support there decision.
@@rattlehead7281 never ever...and thats the way to kill a icon. the corvette ALWAYS was a two seater , FRONT ENGINE rear traction...PERIOD!!! whats the point to re invent the wheel???????
Paddle shifters does not necessarily equal "automatic transmission". The C7 had a central stick shifter because the transmission is just below the center console. With the C8's transmission behind the mid-engine, any hope for a mechanical linked stick shift are dashed. Besides, without a hard link to the shift mechanism there would be no "feel" in the stick, just an electrical contactor where the gears used to be that indicate which shift solenoid should fire. May as well just put the electric shift switches on the steering wheel, for hands on shifting.
This is going to be a giant disappointment if the only engine option is the 6.2
It would be awesome to get the Z06 and Zora version out of the gate but unfortunately we will have to wait a couple for the Z06 and maybe 4 for the ZR1 (zora?). more waiting... I dont want the skimpy 460hp version. I need at least 650 version.
That VR design by that guy is incredible
That is the correct rear spoiler in the leaked photos. I designed the packaging for it so I've had my hands on the physical model.
OK guys...I own a C4 and a C5. I have a possibly dumb question. I know 50/50 weight distribution is considered ideal. Doesn't the C7 already have the 50/50 distribution? What will be the advantages of the C8 with the mid-engine if the 50/50 balance had already been achieved?
First the Corvette lost its pop up headlights then its circular tail lights now its losing its RWD front engine configuration
This isn't an American car anymore now it's more like a 458
Such a disappointment
I was excited about it being mid engine. The problem for me is it’s ugly.
I’m a big American car guy and the way I see it American cars aren’t going away they’re just evolving. Imagine if it was still a carbureted 4 speed. Sometimes we need change
This might just be opinion but think the reason originally as to why the Corvette was gonna be mid engine is because of performance yes it will increase but has it needed to do that in the past to beat the competition no it hasn't the Corvette follows the same layout as any daily rear wheel drive Chevy such as the S10 the Corvette hasn't needed to do any sort of special drive train layout to compete with high class performance badges like Ferrari or Lamborghini or Porsche this might just be opinion but the C8 Corvette is a European super car not an American super car
Hell STONE1325 well with that logic shouldn’t the c63 amg be an American muscle car? Big body, big front mounted v8, rwd I mean…
@@holmieg3435 granted yes you do prove a good point however the c63 AMG is a German car because Mercedes sold their cars in Germany before anywhere else the same applies for Chevy with the United states and anyother brand with their country
also NEO what a great video you did awesome job and gfreat info!!!! Keep it up!!!!
2 Years And 3 Days Ago, a youtube channel was born....
I’m a C7 owner and I’ll be super disappointed if there’s no manual in the C8. No way I’d buy it with a dct
Automatic transmissions will be the future. If its not a manual transmission then your not racing. I look at people that think they are fast in there automatics but unfortunately there is no skill involved in driving an automatic.
There was a lot of complaints when the C7 came out. I'll wait until I see one up close before I pass personal judgement. If the price is competitive, I'd love to grab one if it passes muster. We know it'll perform.
Well the helicopter parents won't teach their kids to drive a manual , so no one buys them anymore.
It's sad. The connection from a manual is second to none. You drive the the car. It doesn't drive you. Its mandatory to have a manual car in my house. My lady cant drive one and that was all the more reason get one!

Forgot about the supra already lol
There was more than 3 of those Zora stickers on it. Each centercap on the wheels, the hood, both mirrors idk where else but they were like 12 in total of I remember right.
If it looks as bad as it is appearing then it's just another reason why GM will be out of business once again! GM is lost and it's time they just hang it up
This car for mid 50’s is going to be a steal. In couple of years slightly used ones will dip in to 40’s. I m curious about the weight though. It keeps going up. C6 base from 3100 lbs to C7 base 3300 lbs. C8 base maybe 3500 lbs.
Corvette: I have a mid engine.
Lotus Evija 2000hp: hold my power pack
Corvette been keeping up with the euros and then some last 10 years now
If you take the large displacement from the v8 and the manual then I’m not sure I’m interested in the c8
It’s all about the c6 z06 💪🏼
Even more reason to keep the Camaro around (give the SS the C7’s guts).
Most people under 50 don’t like Corvettes. Switching to mid engines is one smart step. Another would be to curb the bombast aesthetic. Less right-angle boxy and more streamlined curves. The front is nice but the back needs a rethink.
HEADLINEZOO most people under 50 can’t afford em. They still have younger kids and still saving for retirement. It’s also not a daily driver so if you can afford it needs to be a weekend car.
This video almost brought tears to my eyes 😢🤧
Very Excited !!!
This is the beginning of the end for the Corvette.
Let's see if this corvette can take care of a GT2RS and 720S p.s is that figure the nuburgring time or release date?
*THOSE NUMBERS ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR , ARE THE REVEAL DATE.*
*BUT I SURE HOPE THAT THEY ARE NOT THE `NURBURGRING` LAP TIME ASLO! , BECAUSE THAT IS A TERRIBLE, SLOW , LAP TIME!!! HAHAHAHA*
I think there will be a 4.5 or 5.x twin turbo based on the new Cadillac motor, but the leaked price sheet already has a an LT2 RPO code that is probably just a base engine similar to LT1 but tweaked a bit for mid engine placement.
the new auto's shift faster then ever before. the c8 has a 8 speed Transmission. that is being build in Bedford Indiana
I'd like to see Mahk's reaction to the new C8.
i'm sure this will be the best performing corvette to day but they aren't exactly breaking ground here. They're not setting trends but following them and the styling just blends in with the crowd. I dont have any problems with the switch to mid engine other than it just means a longer car with lower visibility. The problem i have is with the loss of a manual transmission. Sure, make the dct the standard for performance but keep the manual transmission for the sheer love of driving. I'm glad to see a Zora option but lets hope its worth while and not just a cheesy tribute from people who only vaguely grasp the significance.
Like many things we're losing more than we gain from the march of progress.
While the back end instantly reminded me of a Camero, the thing is sick overall ;)
Excellent video! I bet those effed up NYC streets threw the alignment out and possibly bent a rim or two going over those graveyard potholes. They had to have run over a casket or two....
I own a c7 and it’s a beauty this mid engine c8 looks like a super car and looks amazing idk about the dual clutch transmission I can already hear so many complains. The 4.2 l also is one thing I’m not liking they should of slammed a ls engine and twin turbo that but overall looks dope can’t wait
Change has to happen eventually. I’d rather see a mid engine corvette for now then a full electric one within the next 10 years.

It's trying to be dinner?
From back it look like 2019 camaro

Great video and outstanding editing and story line/flow. You must have invested quite some time making this video and it shows. Tomorrow night we will find out exactly what GM/Chevy is capable of regarding a mid engine car. I for one put my deposit up a few months ago and for sure I will not like something about the car. But then again what car is perfect {except maybe the SLS :)}. I think the base C8 will have 530HP which is a nice improvement over the base C7. The C8 Z06 will be available in the following year and boast around 730 HP. That is the car that I look forward to. The Zora will come in about 4 years and essentially will be a Z06 with hybrid technology having two battery motors in the front.
I’m sorry, but you consider the SLS near-perfect? Never heard that one before.
@@LuckyDT Hey Lucky, I guess I did not make the smiley face obvious enough. No car is perfect, but I own an SLS and a bunch of other cars. So far it has been the best of the bunch, most of all in reliability and value. But please share your experiences with the SLS. If something can go wrong I would appreciate a heads up.
The Good Life 777 I didn’t mean to throw any shade your way concerning the SLS, and wasn’t aware you owned one obviously. I’m not in that type of range, I have an M2 Competition. I just rarely hear of the SLS nowadays, it seems to have gotten sandwiched between the SLR and AMG GT. How do you rate yours with the other two recent Benz supercars?
@@LuckyDT Hey Lucky, no worries man, it's all good. I can't compare it to the SLR and the AMG GT as I have never owned them. I can compare it to the Aventador, the Huracan, Ferrari 458, Ferrari 488, and Corvette Z06. In terms of performance the newer cars obviously have an edge. However in terms of an entire package the SLS for me has it all. It handles as good as a base corvette, is just a tick slower than the ferrari 458, is just a bit louder than the Lamborghini and is extremely comfortable. The sound from inside the car is incredible, especially in Sport Plus on a downshift. The quality is second to none. I can go on and on. Let me put it this way: to this day, every time I start it up, it still puts a smile on my face. The only car that has ever done that for years and years was my Diablo. Of course let's not forget the Gullwing doors.
You're the best!!!!!
My guess is that the Camaro will return in a few years as a less exotic C7 or possibly a sylistically exciting but less mechanically advanced mid-engine sports car. The timing will be about the same time the Corvette becomes more advanced in some way. P.S. We'll know tomorrow but the large side intakes behind the doors, I believe, will not be as seen on the test mules. Instead the intakes will be better integrated and designed. Just another guess.
congratulations Chevy on alienating your entire fan base
It will be a BEAST! Great video btw!
Thank you for the Excellent video!!!
If you don’t like manual or just kinda like manual but really could take it or leave it, then the DCT/SMG/PDKs of the world are the way to go. They make the car much faster and you will always turn consistent laps with them. You will be completely happy with it.
But if you love the manual driving experience then no automatic, no matter how much faster, will make you happy. I thought this when I bought my first M5. Well the SMG is the faster car so it will probably make me just as happy. Nope, there is just something about rowing your own gears that completes the experience. Like IM IN CONTROL. When someone in a manual bangs perfect shift after perfect shift EVERYONE says “Damn that guy (or girl) can DRIVE”! While it does happen, people rarely say that about someone driving an automatic.
Looks much like a longer Lotus Evora. Can wait to see the 40k long-term reviews on these.
I’m guessing base model MSRP will be around 70k
Vettes have always been a great value in sports cars, 60-70k would follow that tradition
FLIMSY:
*YES. VERY LIKELY........OR EVEN MORE!!!!! , AS I SUSPECT!*

As usual good content and well put forward. Keep them coming.
For the Corvette, what is the technological benefit of going to a mid-engine configuration? The weight distribution was already 50/50.
probably traction in the rear, mid and rear engine cars have extra weight in the rear 24/7 unlike wing's, spoiler's, and areo kit's that only boosts traction when moving.
