Grizzly is most definitely my favourite type of DM: Someone who is just as thrilled as the players are when it comes to details and extravagant attacks.
Of course, there is a delicate balance between indulging "The Rule of Cool" and keeping the campaign fair, but JWRI isn't the type to take things too seriously in campaigns.
@@nobellprizz2831 no I know, but i know certain things that don't matter ALL that much that the DM latches onto, like I remember I fell in a hole once, and instead of waiting for my party to throw a rope down I was like "oh well I'll just use mold earth to create handholds like a rock wall as I go up" but because that's technically a whole action he didn't want to let me do it. Like there was no plan for keeping me in there, nor any reason he wanted me to be hoisted up by rope, we weren't in combat or anything so there wasn't any reason to keep track of actions really, it was just cause he was stuck on the technicalities for something that would have been cool. Also, this DM was my dad and I was like a teenager when this campaign took place, so I might be a little extra biased (definitely a little extra biased)

I'd actually give them a gay happy ending and even tho Marshall John sacrifices himself for Gillian, he survived but he's badly injured. Gillian unleashes his scientific genius and studies medicine and magical water kinda shite to heal John and succeeds. However, in my head, Gillian is an absolute dumbo when it comes to understanding society and he's just the purest baby of them all.
I just realised Gillian is kinda like my fiancé. Uhm... Call me John, I guess lol

The next episode is just a 20 second audio clip of Charlie making drowning noises because Gil tried to fight the whirlpool.

Honestly, I was playing a Middle Earth DnD campaign and was some kind of Woodlands (Human) Woodcutter kind of species and walked up to a town full of my own kind of people trying to be an ambassador for my party so they would let us in and rolled a Nat 1 with a -2 to culture so I basically walked up to them and went "Hi, Me wood man like yooouuuu."
I've only had gillian tidestrider for about 39 minutes and I already love him.
I hope Wheatie comes back soon. Also Im very happy that Grizzlys campaign was chosen

I just started watching JRIW after Charlie's jort stream and my god where have i BEEN for the past 2 years?? I love how everyone is connected to The Hole in The Sea in some way (I just started watching the episode but all the last names + Chip being the same is SO GODDAMN COOL)

This is definitely a different kind of campaign that I have listened to. The style is interesting, and the dynamics of the people involved in this campaign are also interesting.
I loved all three campaign ideas, but I was rooting for ya, Grizz. So glad we get to experience piratey goodness from your storytelling perspective.
