This is a straight up angry break up song. The one that was used leaned more to sadness and betrayal, which better allowed for their upcoming reconciliation. I agree that First Burn sounds better, because they bass and drums hit HARDER and make it more angry. I like it better.
SaraLuvsUnicorns I think they thought it didn't suit Eliza that much, imo I think it would suit Angelica if she ended up with Alexander. I believe Eliza would be more heartbroken and sad, in contrast to Angelica's more "aggressive" approach. I agree that this song is better musically tho.

Hey - I hope you see this, Christene - I need to clarify what the people who are saying they don't see the Hamilton/Angie relationship are probably saying:
They definitely had feelings for each other, however your fear of Angelica and Ham cheating on Eliza was unfounded. Angelica 'loved her sister more than anything in this life'. She would NEVER hurt her, no matter what. She loved Hamilton, but loved Eliza more, and so she gave him up for her. It wasn't because he didn't have money, as you thought in Satisfied. It was because she loved Eliza so much that she wanted her to be happy above all else. That's why your fans get so frustrated (myself included) when you were worried about Angelica and Ham's relationship throughout Satisfied and Take A Break - you were missing Angelica's character, her deep and real love for the both of them, but for her sister in particular. You missed a really sad story about choosing the ones you love over everything, including your own happiness. It was a little infuriating, honestly - but I'm not hating! I love your reactions. I just wanted to explain as best as I can. I'll end with a quote from Congratulations (yes it's deleted, but it's a great insight into Angelica's character)

I'm genuinely happy they released this version. It's so much more impactful with the different women singing Eliza's part. I kinda thought the burn in the musical was a very soft angry and she forgave him fairly quickly in terms of plot.
For me the musical version for all it's merits, wasn't a real representation of the rage and mistrust Eliza would've felt. I mean she got married to someone she loved, was later on being neglected, as well as learning the whole 'My dearest, Angelica' thing and then cheated on with some harlot who wasn't really worth it, considering he was extorted and to put the cherry on top her and her family were exposed and embarrassed in the newspapers because of her husband's paranoia.
Legacy is a big theme in Hamilton that doesn't really get mentioned in burn but I feel as if that was better expressed in first burn. I wish they had this version in the musical.

Honestly, I like "Burn" better, I love First Burn, I really do, but Eliza wouldn't have reacted that way, Burn makes her feel disappointed or in shock then it slowly transitions to her getting angrier and angrier, plus I like the lyrics a bit better, specifically "The world has no right to my heart, the world has no place in our bed, they don't get to know what I said". Plus her soft singing at the beginning is just heart-breaking and a bit intimidating at the same time if you ask me.
(Not saying First Burn's lyrics weren't amazing, I mean "Your enemy whispers so you have to scream" was just woow)
Whenever I listen to this song, just chills. Each girl has an absolutely beautiful voice, and portray the emotion Eliza has. Just amazing.

Angelica really did have feelings for Alexander. I know this because I did research myself, so you know how in “Helpless” Angelica has that one line to Eliza, “If you really loved me you would share him.” There’s a actual letter that Angelica wrote to Eliza stating that she should share Alexander, but Eliza didn’t know wether to take it serious or as a joke. So Angelica being attracted to Alexander is a real thing that happened in history.

To answer a few of your questions, the women who were singing were the current Eliza's (Except for one who had retired the role by the time the video came out). This version of the song was an earlier version of "Burn" but was cut due to flow and performance. And finally the Angelica and Hamilton thing was and still is a debate if it happened, but in the musical they play it as if it were at least partially true.

Oh yes, people who deny alexander had feelings for angelica (at least in the musical) were NOT paying attention lmao, there are several instances of it throughout and Lin Manuel has said himself it was very much intended, he loved eliza as his wife, but angelica and him were like, soulmates. He said that he even wrote their songs to show that, angelica is the only one who raps at the speed and passion that he does and that's supposed to signify how they are so intune and fit with each other. You don't see it outside of the musical but when Angelica says she's leaving with a husband, Hamilton looks so stricken and watches her leave, even after she's gone, even when Eliza comes in the picture, he's still watching Angelica, that along with the letters 'My, dearest' that's some freud shit, and when she comes back his little shy 'hi' and man, yeah. Dude loved her. Fooor sure.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but I did go and do the research of the situation between Alexander and Angelica to satisfy my curiosity. They often wrote letters back and forth, and while the content was suggestive and flirtatious, there wasn't enough to prove something physically happened between them.

I know I'm super late to this video, but it took me a long time to get around to watching Hamilton.
As far as I can gather from researching the actual events (Hamilton's attraction to Angelica in the play is pretty apparent), all the evidence of anything between Angelica and Alexander that we have is their letters. These letters have a playful vibe to them and the flirting is all very subtle and intellectual, like that instance in the play where they reference placing the comma in the wrong place (despite clearly knowing where it belonged). They very clearly were both intelligent and they used that intellect to playfully flirt with one another. But Alexander was pretty romantic in the way he wrote anyway and flirting was not something uncommon to him either. So whether or not there was any emotion behind these letters on either end is something we simply can't know for sure.
Laurens, on the other hand, was very much close to Hamilton. In their interactions it definitely seemed like more than a friendship, particularly on Hamilton's end. Laurens was very charismatic and pretty much everyone found themselves drawn to him for that reason. Historians tend to say that it's definitely possible that they were just extremely close friends, but it's equally possible that they had a romantic, maybe even physically intimate relationship as well. Somewhat unrelated, a bit of info about Laurens that struck me as particularly disappointing was that he did not, in fact, lead an all-black regiment in the war. He tried to - he asked for permission to do so (granting the slaves who participated freedom after the war ended) a total of four times over the course of the war, but was overwhelmingly denied every time. Poor Laurens was just too far ahead of his time...

It says rendition, but First Burn is actually the first draft of Burn from the musical, Lin scrapped it cause he felt it didn’t fit Eliza’s character as she was known for her kindness, and her helpless theme, and the girls singing are various actresses who played Eliza in different showings of the musical.
My favorite is Rachel, but I might be biased as it’s partially because I grew up listening to her in my family ^^; Filipino pride~
