- The world famous Tehachapi Loop from an aerial perspective!
Was a long drive from home but a great trip well worth it!
Z trains like this one seem to be the best catch to get around the loop as it's all easy on the eyes to see every bit of the train. Especially so with white containers. Got a few manifests here but the effect wasn't as good.
All footage taken with a DJI Phantom 4

Amazing engineering of the road, train control, and so much more
By Far and Wide..the Best Aerial Drone Photographer in the country...! Many thanks to Railfan Dan...!
Thanks so much! :)
that is an amazing video and the cinematography is phenomenal...thank you for sharing...I would definitely love to see that with my own eyes. amazing...
Excellent Drone operation, nearly covered the whole loop ! Thanks for this footage!
By and far the best railfan location in the country.
In the world.
That's what I wanted to see! Shows the elevation more than the cam can! Wow, I think the loop ismy most favorite train video! I knew there had to be a tunnel and now I have seen it! Thanks very much!
Beautiful !
Very nicely done, thank you!
Great footage. Camped out here in January 2020. Fell asleep to trains passing the whole night.
You can see the problem that faced Hood once he got to where Woodward was located (I believe that's the watering location) while following Tehachapi Creek. Where to climb up next? The creek runs to the left of the rise without enough elevation gain available to cover the 77 feet needed to reach where Tunnel 10 is now located. So, I was able to see for the first time that the Loop architecture actually began where the railroad crosses the creek below the Loop itself, making the area even more impressive historically than before for me. Thanks for the new look of an old icon.
Incrivel! Fascinante! Cheers from Brazil.
OUTSTANDING , VERY PROFESSIONAL !
Far Out Dan! That was excellent mate. Cheers
Another wonderful video! Thanks for posting it.
Thank you Dan, Superb!!!
On my list. Well done. I shall return one day. You nailed it.
Jak mi strasznie podobają się te lokomotywy i te potężnie długie składy...swietny materiał 😄
I like watching your videos and trying to spot where you might be standing and operating the drone. Another fine piece of entertainment - Thanks
I'm on the road near the bottom of the screen on this one!
Wow I really love watching this video..
That's a great video, Dan!
Great film and music!
I am wondering why someone gave this video a thumbs down? Great video, love seeing from above trains go through loops.
Ha yeah I wondered also. Thanks!
I did. Instead of that rocknroll, the sound of diesels is much better music.
@@zvast instead of train noise you would hear the drone, they are loud.
Awesome video nice job.
Superb Video. 🇮🇳
Great Video, new sub here, thanks for sharing
Well thank you Tony I hope you will enjoy what I have to offer!
Nice one Dan! You should come out with us in April when it's green and pretty.
like the music /thank you
Amazing
Supreme video👍😀
Amazing Dan, well worth the long drive.
Beautiful, but when you concentrate, you may ask: what is the purpose of that circle?
To compensate for the already steep grade up the mountain. The loop keeps the grade more gradual.

Thank you 👍
Seems too crazy to be real . What a trip!
Wow, I gotta get a drone!
Nice video new friend. Greeting from Vietnam.
Again Thank you for the great videos!
2:32 This is HUGE!
This is an AWESOME Video TY for sharing any chance of emailing me this one I would love to use it as my background!
Probably not unfortunately. I like to keep my CZcams content exclusive. Sorry.
Great video. Terrible music though. Would rather listen to the sound of the diesels and screaming wheels of the wagons.
Dan Great footage again! Do you know why this loop was created it seems it could have been a straight shot? See you soon! Dwight
Yes they did it to keep the grade more gradual so it wouldn't be too steep of a climb for a train. Even with this loop it's still a pretty steep grade.
@@TheRailfanDan First time I've seen that the loop is actually around a hill. Looks like about 70 foot elevation change over the loop. Also a horseshoe below the loop. End of the video
How may cars does this train have? It seems near endless.
15-20 mph?
🌐
É simplesmente lindo.
Been there seen that. Awesome
Looks the same on train simulator or maybe my eyes are just bad from too much simming on my pc lol 😂
Vind wel knap
Die trein is zo groot als België
What is the purpose of the loop?
To reduce the steepness of the incline thereby reducing the traction needed to climb it--or stop when descending. A gentler slope means they can pull more (and heavier) cars with fewer engines, thereby making it more cost effective.
