Gerry Butler? Wow. This was my earliest memory of seeing Gerard Butler in a movie. It's also unbelievable how quickly technology has upgraded. The computer look like early '90s.

Eh... It's okay. Could've been a bit less corny with the humor and stuff. Ehren Kruger was the Script doctor.

I just love Gerard Butler as Dracula. He was the handsomest Dracula of all times. I just loved all of his movies. He's a great actor and doesn't get enough recognition.

I agree 100% with you. The two best Dracula's Gerard Butler The best looking hands down. Christopher is one of the scariest. Two of the greats. But don't forget about Bella Lagosi one of the first without any music. He was pretty scary. He was the first Dracula's I had ever seen at the age of 10. I think his movie was made in the nineteen thirties. Pretty long time ago. I had to sleep with the bedroom light on for a few nights.

This was actually my first introduction to Gerard Butler who to be fair makes for a seductive sultry Dracula
and it was my first introduction to Jennifer Esposito
Christopher Plummer makes a great Van Helsing and Johnny Lee Miller has a likable dorkiness as his apprentice Simon
Glad they got Scream collaborator Patrick Lussier to direct and Wes Craven produced it
Very happy it introduced me to Linkin Park, love that song during the credits although this genre of nu metal may be divisive for a lot of people
I appreciate that Marco Beltrami did the score too
This reimagined the vampire trope for the original hot topic generation even if it did depart heavily from the 1897 novel
Still it is a tribute to 90s gothic subcultures, revels in transforming a genre-defining story steeped in the subversive style of the millennium without being too serious
The New Orleans setting is muggy and added to the extra moodiness in spite of the fact the movie is drowning in histrionics
The character of Mary is a bit too on the nose being that she's a virgin and works at Virgin record megastore...oye
It was a booming time for record stores though selling 785 million albums that year
The fact that they tried to tie Dracula to betraying Jesus Christ leading to his crucifixion was noble but unnecessary, still it explains his hatred for Christianity and his aversion to silver
I won't lie the script is a bit lifeless and not all the dialogue works
For better or worse however the movie is still the most representative time capsule of the era

Interesting take on Dracula, that is suggested that is actually Judas Iscariot that betrayed Jesus Christ, and that's why vampires hate and die by silver, because that's what the coins were made of, that took in exchange for the betrayal, and afterwards hung himself. Die as a result of taking silver for betrayal of God's son. Vampire slayer Van Helsing, first name is Gabriel, in this film and in the exclusively Van Helsing film. Realize that vampires can't be out in The Sun.
I didn't like this version of Dracula. I mean the way people were turned into vampires, just by biting them? Vampires are not the same as werewolves. They don't inject some kind of serum in you, turning you into a vampire. I rather appreciate the Ann Rice idea; after a vampire bites the person, he/she drains them just to the point where they're too weak but conscious enough to drink blood from the vampire. See, that way it's a process; the person becoming a vampire needs more vampire blood in them than human blood. Vamps need blood to survive, so if a human turned into a vamp every time it was bitten, it wouldn't take long before there wouldn't be anymore humans to feed on
