- An emergency landing at Tada Oo (Mandalay) International Airport, The signal light in the cockpit indicating that the front wheel had properly deployed and locked into place did not come down.
So the crew went throught the entire emergency procedure.
For everyone confused at why they kept repeating the same thing, well I'm a Flight Attendant/Cabin Crew in the UK & when we are trained we are told once the captain says "BRACE BRACE" we then have to keep repeating "BRACE BRACE" until the plane has come to a complete stop. This is an aviation law which all airlines have to follow. So as annoying as it may sound, it's for your safety because guarantee if they stopped shouting it, there will be people putting their heads up & then if the plane came to a sudden stop or landed hard, then the people with their heads up could injure their neck/back & then if they physically can't move as a result of the injury, they could hinder your exit in the event of an evacuation. So before you complain about not wanting to hear that annoying command being repeated again & again, we do it for everyone's safety! Everything we do is for safety, Customer service is second, Safety is always first. Who are you going look to at in an emergency on a plane?

Of course, it is probably all thought through. It gives the right instruction and something to focus on while they're in panic. I heard Cpt Sully in an interview say how much it helped him to hear the flight attendents repeat it.
It's a chorus of praise. They repeat "Praise, praise our brother Hankle" - brother Hankle is the patron saint of aviation. Trust me.

Food was tastier, and I was the most optimistic person in the world for a few hours!
Bracing for impact is important to prevent whiplash injuries or head injuries when hit against the sit in front of you. It helps cushion the impact.
The reason why the flight attendants continued chanting is because the plane might roll off the run way and crash, so keep bracing till you reach a complete stop.

actually they're schooled to repeat certain phrases like "brace" or "jump down the slide" over and over again, research suggested that people who are frozen in shock are more likely to follow instructions when you tell them more than once

actually, no. they didn't get it. after even the 100th time there was about 3 to 4 people who didn't listen and kept there heads up the whole time so no it wasn't enough I guess.

One of the things they don't yell at you is to cover your right hand with your left (if you're right handed). You need your dominant hand to be working and without broken fingers so you can undo your seatbelt and open the emergency door.

I was going to comment on how annoying that repetitiveness was, but it was clearly necessary given the fact that the two gentlemen seemed mystified by the word "ankles"

@RHCP9181 yeah thanks for the comment, Mandalay airport had an airstrip over 12000 feet long, long enough to land the space shuttle, so it was sorta OK

That was the flight attendant on the PA after the pilot got done speaking. They have intercom access too, you know.

people on here complaining about them saying that brace part so many times, there saying "I think they get it" but after all the shouting they did there was still people who wasn't listening to them and keeping there heads up the whole time! so maybe they didn't say it enough.
