  • The BMW X3 M40i takes one of the best small luxury SUVs in the segment and gives it the BMW M treatment. From plush leather to a crackling exhaust everything about the X3 is impressive!
    A HUGE thank you goes out to my friends at International Autos of West Allis, WI for providing the car for this video!!!
    This particular X3 M40i is available at International Autos BMW in West Allis, WI so if you're as impressed as I am go give it a look, and the team over at there will take great care of you!

    I like your review speedings and acceleration in different ways that helps much for people are watching how the car is, not like others just driving talking around.

    What a great emotional delivery which excited and informed everything good and powerful about an unassuming SUV. Well done!

      Were you fine with possible repair cost buying 5+ years old used car? I am thinking to do same.

    Its always fun to watch car reviews when the driver is pumped about the car, makes buying it that much easier 😎

    The "light curtain" comes from under the doors, not the side mirrors like on other cars. That's why the lights don't move when you open your doors.

    Great review but you might want to check the 0-60 time. Quoted at 4.4, which is the exact same as the Porsche macan turbo (without performance pack) This is because the power is not quoted correctly by bmw, after several companies Dyno tested it, they found it to be at over 400hp.

    Is this definitely a 2018? I have a 2019 and thought the model badging went to the bottom of the lift gate in 2019.

    • @jdavidrhea
      @jdavidrhea Před 2 lety +1

      I have a 2018 and the rear badging is indeed up toward the top of the gate. I love it. Also, great video!

    If you want the ventilated seats, the colors are limited. I wanted that orange/brownish leather but you can't get ventilation with those.
    So I opted for black ventilated seats.
    Ventilated seats also lack adjustable side bolsters.
    On warmer days, the ventilation helps.... Somewhat. Very disappointed with that.
    It's important to note for discerning buyers that the seats offered on the new X3 are VENTILATED. They're not AC seats as in some BMW vehicles.

      It also depends on the leather choice. I wanted merino leather but couldn’t have the ventilated seats. Only available on vernasca leather for some reason. Must be to do with the porous nature or grain of the different grade of leather.

    In the video you said this SUV doesn’t need any more power but your mind would maybe change after you drove the new X5M. Just wondering, have you changed your mind?

    • @dwnshft
      @dwnshft  Před 4 lety

      Jamie Rowland haven’t driven the x5m yet but I drive the x3m competition and for an everyday sub I like the m40 better. The x3m is too still and I think it actually has a smaller backseat and trunk

    Rode in an X1 yesterday...I didn’t even know that was a thing!
    Kinda dig the smaller BMW SUV’s...X1-2-3. 🇩🇪
    Fun little side-roads...but I’m headed for Stelvio Country...because Alfa!! 🍀
    (Also cross-shopping like a nerd, though...)
    How about a Volvo XC40/60/70/90 video, just because it’s an option for us in WI with our nasty winters?
    Curious about the whole ‘Care by Volvo’ subscription service...tbh, it sounds like a great way to get raped by an automaker, but I could be wrong.

    • @dwnshft
      @dwnshft  Před 6 lety

      Thanks for watching Grant! I really liked this X3. I haven't driven the X1, but I like small and tossable. It's essentially a hatchback in my eyes so that's a plus - lower center of gravity. The Stelvio is fun, I have a video on that one too!

    • @ChristianC-gy1ym
      @ChristianC-gy1ym Před 6 lety

      Whenever I take my M40i into the dealership, they seem to give me a X1 as a loaner car (wondering why they don't just have other X3's to lend out). The X1 is a fun subcompact SAV.

      It’s definitely a 2018. The steering wheel for US made M40i in 2018 didn’t actually have the M steering wheel. The badging in early 2018 production was above the tail lights and in late 2018 moved to the bottom of the truck gate.

    • @ScottParisi
      @ScottParisi Před 2 lety +1

    I almost bought one of these but it only has a 19.4 degree approach angle compared to the 37.6 degree approach angle offered on the ‘87 Cherokee. Im so glad I went with the ‘87 Cherokee. BMW doesn’t even have a Laredo package either, unacceptable for any car at this price point.
