I've had the Flip 3 for almost a year and do not have a dust issue. I clean my screen every two to three days with no problems. I am not a crease-o-file, got used to it very quickly. My Flip 4 will be here this week, very excited. I guess I'm a Flip-O-File.

I bought a Flip 3 last week to trade in for Flip 4 to test out, I'll probably daily it and keep the S22U in the drawer for now. I really wanted/close to getting the Fold 4 mainly for having 90% of the functionality on the front screen while opened is more for multitasking, watching videos/netflix, and gaming... but with all the case and attachments on it I feel it will be like an ice cream sandwich lol... maybe it'll need 1-2 more revisions. But nonetheless all the issues fold/flip 3 were having has been addressed with the 4 or rather worked on. Battery +++, Performance ++, Improved Adhesive ++, Camera +
The only thing Flip 4 buyer's are curious about is Battery Life & ironically this the ONLY part every CZcamsr is try to intentionally DELAY in Pre-Booking phase. Samsung has bought the Silence of Tech Tubers on Battery Life 😅😎.

Fold 4 > Flip 4 > S22U on Battery
S22U > Fold 4 > Flip 4 on Camera
Fold 4 being on similar level to maybe an S22+ in terms of Camera quality.
TSMC's 4nm fab helps quite a bit.
New ECO^2 screens from Samsung helps a bit
and if you want even more battery life just hit the new "light mode" power option found in the Flip/Fold 4.

Depend on how you look at it, i guess the "needing 2 hands to open the phone" can be a good thing. For people who're looking to decrease their phone usage/addiction, more hassle to use the thing is a good thing. For me who're looking to decrease my on-screen time at work, this has been one serious pro that I factor in my consideration. But cons like the crease and no dust rating for now still scares me off. I can imagine some serious durability issues in my hand since my workplace are VERY dusty at times.
As a flip user, the screen is much more resistant to stains. if it gets dirty, clean your pockets! Also, the indentation is no longer an issue you need to really look for it to find it and in dark environments is never an issue.

I had my flip 3 for a year, ZERO issues. Got a new Flip 4, so far, I LOVE IT! Yes, the battery on the Flip 3 wasn't great, but I had no issues. the cameras...they are def. good enough. Never had a dust issue. I was able to trade my Flip 3 in and only had to pay $99! WELL worth it!
Brother is ur flip heating while charging ? Just got mine today and just charging for 10mins it heats up crazy.

all the reasons you listed are MINOR inconveniences, not major drawbacks. THe form-factor and being able to put it in my front pocket is HUGE plus for me! I'm switching to this phone after 4 years using iphone xs max. I'm going for the bespoke custom color available from samsung website

That crease I think is a major one. plus, no anti dust rating can be off-putting to someone who spends time on dusty workplaces (think factories and whatnot).
@Josua D i totally ignore the crease. and it's not like i've convinced myself it's not a big deal or something like that; i really don't care about it and forget it's there. and it's the same for a lot of ppl i know who own a z flip.
i've also taken the phone to the beach and i also don't think the dust thing is really a problem. you hear some crack noises when you fold it, but the phone keeps working just fine.
imo best reason not to buy one is the fact there are just better phones out there (in terms of battery, camera, and other features...). apart from that, i don't think there's any major drawback. maybe uncertainty? no one knows what will be of these phones in like 4/5 years. but it's just that, if u ask me.

I'm definitely diving into unfamiliar territory by preordering the Flip 4. My iPhone 11 Pro Max is having some major connectivity and audio issues lately, so I wanted to trade in. Browsing the current selection left me underwhelmed as the idea of just going for the 13 felt so boring. I've had an iPhone since the 5, and the candy bar layout and familiar iOS are getting dull like a favorite song that you overplayed and now can't seem to stand.
After seeing the Flip and Fold, I remembered the early days of cell phones where phones were fun. Thinking back on the crazy designs of the early 2000s like the sidekick. I decided to throw caution to the wind and just go for the Flip. It didn't hurt either that Verizon offered me 800 in trade-in towards it.

Loved my flip 4, for about 7 months until the screen stopped working. Despite never falling and no damage (only scratches to the sides of the device due to sand) to the screen/body, Samsung refused to honor the warranty and asked me half of the price I paid for the device to repair it.
This was my first Samsung, I had fell in love with the device but the decision on my warranty made me never want to buy Samsung again. I have talk to many people with the same screen issue though 😢
I've never had any issues with my Samsung Galaxy phones until the Flip 4

I'd suggest watching Jerryrigeverything and his video on the Flip 4. It completely destroys this videos points and even emphasizes the fact that you can't even snap the phone screen in half anymore. Deciding not to buy this phone because someone complained about rainbow screen (doesn't happen with my sunglasses) and sand (IP68 rating on both phones they listed, it DOES have sand protection, Samsung just expects common sense here) being "problems" are just stupid.

I got the Flip 3 in January, and I'm trading it in for the 4 because Samsung gave a fantastic deal of $900 trade-in on the 3. I have no trouble opening my Flip 3 one-handed by simply using my thumb to open it a little and then using my leg or torso to push against to open the rest of the way. It's second nature now, and I would hate to go back to a glass slab phone.
omg i'm incredibly ocd when it comes to my personal electronics and the second reason was the exact reason that made me sell my flip 3 and still can't get myself to get the flip 4 even though my other gripe, battery life, was improved quite notably.. i'm quite sure the close proximity of the screens when folded creates some sort of static and attracts way more dust/lint than a bar phone and the infinite number of stubborn particles around the screen protector drove me insane.
As a flip 4 user dust is no issue I work in drywall construction with tons of dust and it's been fine and also the crease is super satisfying to run your fingers across actually

The issue I had with my Z Flip 3 is the microphone. It was a hardware issue after using it for over 10 months. The microphone stopped working and gave out muffled sound. I've tried every possible software solutions to no avail. I sent it back to Samsung to get it fixed since it's still under warranty. I'm upgrading it to Z Flip 4 and hoping it doesn't have the same issue again. 🤞🏼

The only thing I agree with you is I really like the feeling of the crease while running my finger up and down the screen.

I want a smaller phone for better one handed operation, so had thought about the Flip. Been weighing the pros and cons because my carrier had a real good trade in for the Flip and Fold models. I will probably go the way of Zenphone9 or the plain S22 for being the smallest in dimensions since all the slabs are getting ginormous too. Thank you for bring up these points.
Don't get a flip phone
I removed the screen protector and put a new one on no problems. It is responsive aswell as im able to pick up phone calls with the front screen it if i wanna open it with one hand i can by using my leg no issues there. The only 1 issue i have is the sturdyness of the flipping wearing off but that is logical. Had mine for a month now , not gonna switch back to my ultra s21
If you go on Reddit, there are many people who work in construction and in dusty environments without any issues. The ZFlip 4 might not be rated dust resistant, but will still somewhat hold to some dusts.

Have the z flip 5G since it came out.only complaint is the the screen protector failed and the 3rd party ones break at the hinge when it's 20° F or lower. Also pocket lint has entrapped itself in the hinge. These are minor problems for me as long as the phone still flips and works. Still my favorite phone.

@@lokesh0000006 and that is also the thing that is the most unclear. One said it is longer then the 22 ultra or he did a battery test with a lot of phones and the flip is a few minutes longer. On this channel a normal day is shown and that comes to 6 to 7 hours. Another one said around 5 hours and a last one only three. So I am curios how the last two got there numbers. But I think the 7 hours real life test ist probably the most accurate
@@elo_x4266 depends on use. 8 seems to be the below avg # with 10 being high end. Idk why the guy above is saying in every video that CZcamsrs r hiding battery life, u can find for science battery test especially since it was the Flip 3 weakest point. I'm going to downgrade from fold 3 to Flip 4. I want to carry a normal phone without the bulk. Don't care for the camera, and the battery life has improved a lot, with better processor I can play emulators better
I just ordered the flip primarily due to its low price currently at $600 and that is from Google Fi which is the cheapest provider I know of. I can see where some issues bother particular people but some things aren't an issue in the slightest bit. Such as the need for using two hands, I always use two hands to operate a phone, especially since the screens started exceeding six inches. I also rarely use telephoto and with the number of megapixels, you should get decent quality with digital zoom or just cropping the photo. I'm sure they made this decision to minimize the camera bump.
I got mine from if as well and the good thing about it is that the contract last for just 6months …not actual payment of phone but Fi plans

This flip phone has been very tempting for me, except that the price is still too high for me to buy one to "just try it out". This video shows I will want to avoid it, at least until some of these issues are addressed. For me, the biggest issue is the lack of any optical zoom. I'm unhappy with the phone I have because it doesn't have *ENOUGH* zoom, and I am also not happy with digital zoom. I'd be really unhappy with a phone that has *no* optical zoom.
The other issues also dampen my enthusiasm, but wouldn't prevent me from considering a Flip phone.
It's still a very exciting gadget!

They break notoriously easy though. Simply from using them. I've actually seen a Flip2 break in front of my eyes while the owner simply folded it together lol... And the funniest part is that Samsung actually told him that he *"mishandled"* the Phone, so they won't honor their warranty rofl. And he had barely owned it for a couple months. The Flip technology in itself just isn't durable enough yet, there's *a lot of threads* on different samsung forums that shares my opinion.. But I'm glad that yours is working :) Buying one seems like too much of a gamble though.
I came from S22 Ultra to Z Flip 4. All the upgrade you get from regular not flip phone you just get better camera, better battery, etc you just don't get a feeling that you bought a new phone. But when I got Z Flip 4 it really made me excited. But yes you have a good point for sure.

Overall not really a problem. This is a good overall phone, for something that fits in your pocket easy. Also when you trade in for a future Samsung model upgrade purchase you will get a higher value than let trying to sell somewhere else.

I got the phone for free through the carrier... when the next ultra comes out I may trade it in on the next ultra. I have to say though, folding this baby up and sticking it in your pocket really is nice.

The gap between the flip is to avoid the dust, to prevent dust stay over the screen
I noticed most the issues you have are extremely minor. Like the button placement. Are people to lazy to move their finger a cm up? The Z Flip 4 button placement is the same height as the S21 plus. I agree sand and hard objects like that would definitely be a issue but dust itself won't damage the screen. A simple wipe fixes that issue. I thought you were gonna say something along the lines of negative things like Apple and intentionally putting cheap batteries in their devices so you have to replace it more often. Or like the IOS updates that Intentionally make older devices basically unusable.
Well if these are the worst things we could find, it's a positive!

I have a s22 Ultra. I'm going to use the flip for trips to the coffee shop. It fits in my pocket and the Ultra does not.I'll take pictures of ufos with my ultra.

My favourite foldable is the LG V60. I can attach and detach a second screen when I want. And it folds front to front through to back to back. And easy to turn off one screen if I want. Plus programmable second screen to set up as a games controller as well as a keyboard or for two apps. Just a shame LG left the mobile market.

I enjoy your reviews, but don’t agree with all of your concerns on the Flip 4. First, the silicone case protects the phone from dusk by covering most of the opening. And everyone should use a case. No rainbow effect on my screen so this may be an issue with yours. Next, I think anyone buying this phone is asking for trouble by opening the phone with one hand, so I’m glad Samsung designed to want to open with both. The crease doesn’t bother me, but may bother others. The only thing I absolutely agree with is the lack of a telephoto lens. No more brick phones for me.
How much will the resell for?
All valid issuse that most seem to skip over. Did I order the flip 4 anyways, of course I did. I need to feel that sweet, sweet screen crease. I hope this comment helps the A.I. overlords take notice of this great content. Thanks for the video!

The S22 is what we were alluding to.
I’m sitting here looking at my cases to my old Z flip three and the new case that I just received for my Z flip four. I cannot tell the difference between these two cases whatsoever even with a measuring tool. Are vendors selling Z flip 4 cases that are the same thing as the flip 3!in order to get folks that are unsuspecting to buy new cases that they don’t need? Tomorrow I get my Z flip 4 and I will confirm.

I'm getting my 4 tomorrow as well, and I had the same thought. However, I put the Z Flip 4 case I bought on my Flip 3, and it doesn't fit quite right. It's very close, but I can tell it wasn't designed for the 3. I bought one with a plastic hinge protector, and that one won't even allow my Flip 3 to fold because the 4's hinge is smaller. At least, I think that's the reason. Hopefully I don't find out tomorrow that it's actually just that the case is crap 😅
There are minor differences, flash LED doesn't fit and not centred between the cases

@@bethanyhodges6581 I did look it up on the internet and found out that the Z flip doesn't support the s-pen but I was at an ATT store last week and was told that it does support the s-pen.
@@yc6683 The Z Flips don’t support the S Pen. The inner screen on the Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4 do support the S Pen. I own the Z Fold 3 but I’m trading to the Z Flip 4.
I just changed from a s20 plus(which i loved).. first I been open the phone with one hand. Second there's a gap but no dust issue. With a case, no gap. I did not have a problem with my maui jim glasses with the screen. Also you can screen record. Zoom on phones are garbage regardless. The crease is not a problem. Buttons are not an issue for me. I 100% disagree with the review. This is a premium phone with a great warranty..2 years! How do you post a don't buy video and then say you loved it? Being able to take a picture/record a selphie with the back cameras is reason enough to buy it. Picture and video Quality is awesome

Right now the flip 4 is cheaper then any other due to a deal they are having...it's cheaper then the fan edition 20 which pissed me off as I need a new phone snd hate the flip, now it's cheaper so I have to get it

Had the flip and none of these were significant issues. The one real issue isn't covered here. The phone was VERY durable for me until one day it dropped the wrong way and damaged the hinge which broke the screen and slowly turned it all black.
dust, screen gap, wrinkle in the middle, etc never were a significant problem and I routinely opened the phone with one hand.
Had the flip and this wasn't a significant issue. The real issues were the ones mentioned in this video.
There's one way to avoid the dust problem... Buy a case with a thick frame
Have the Z4 Flip, paid $200 bucks after trading a 5 year old Samsung S8, thru Verizon. Unbeatable deal. Very happy after 3 months.

All these cons seem like wining lol, idk if u were am iphone user before but there's nothing tedious about this phone, I've always had androids, going back to the Droid with the slide keyboard, although my taste for android has always been the android that's different, like my last phone was the wing, and now I've had the zflip for over a year and this has been one of the best phones I've owned.. and on that dust topic everyone is talking about, I don't ever have an issue with dust, I do have a case that creates more of a seal around the sides and covers the hinge, and I work for parks and rec so it can get pretty dirty, even dropped it in the mud and a chlorine swimming pool to 4ft, and that was 5months ago, still going strong
I think the bigger issue is that Samsung has just removed performance mode from the next iteration of their software. You can use balanced mode or light mode. So there's simply not letting you use the full power of the snapdragon chipset .
What's the point of having the latest silicon if you're not going to let people use the performance cores to their fullest, even as an option? They should just put an 870 chip in there and call it a day. Or even a 778 and charge 599 MSRP. It doesn't support dex anyway because of the thermals.
Seems like a missed opportunity to make this a true mid-range phone, you could even make it part of the A series. Galaxy A flip 4 or something. Then you might actually have wide adoption.
Z series are actually premium version of A90 5G

Polarized glasses are not good with car electronics too. I would get this flup phone to pop it in my pocket.
Most of this sounds like a joke. Only ones that concerned me are the rainbow effect and not being rated for dust. Dust an aesthetic issue or does it affect performance?
If you love this phone, just buy it :v. We will find a way to deal with these problems, or at least get used to using it .
