- Provided by the wonderful Brianna, here is the 45 RPM single version of "Suddenly, Seymour" from the 1986 film adaptation of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
On her blog, Brianna states, "I have the 45 RPM single of 'Suddenly, Seymour' / 'Don’t Feed the Plants' from the Little Shop movie. However, I SWEAR there’s a difference between this version of 'Seymour' than on the actual soundtrack and even in the movie. Listen for yourself.
"By the way, I transferred this from my physical copy of the record, but feel free to download it if you wish! Maybe somebody talented can clean it up a bit."

I love this. I love how they take a character whose voice is a total joke throughout the entire film and then absolutely flatten the audience with her depth and power. It's genuinely moving and fits right in with her character being constantly underestimated until she's finally free to let go.
Damn, well put.
YES! Audrey is one of my favorite characters in musical theater for this very reason! It’s so well done!
Ellen Greene is also amazing in Pushing Daisies.....
I listen to this song on repeat. I'm in utter awe at how her high pitched raspy airhead voice becomes this bold, powerful, and breathtaking.
Exactly, even more amazing is to hear her 30 years later . Gut wrenching honesty and superb delivery .
Tons of power
I adore her voice,my voice is never that nice lol I've tried so many times to hit her notes at home
Her speaking voice was her playing a bimbo. She didn't talk like that in real life.
czcams.com/video/cdSC--KJUGs/video.html
It makes me cry. Always. I'm sitting here typing with tears down my face like a god damn baby. It's so beautiful and inspiring and bleak all at the same time. Flowers stretching out of the rubble, a brief respite from the grime. It's perfect.
Her voice is so unique and makes you want to protect her from all evil, almost innocent
She's irreplaceable.
So much so, she had to be cast in the movie version of the musical.
"Unique", in an Olivia Newton-John Seymour-David-Audrey Hepburn HasselHoffman, sort of way.
Boobs
Easily one of the best musical numbers, but it belongs to Ellen and Rick… they were born for these roles!
Rick Moranis has a really nice voice!
He’s so freaking cute in this movie. I’m sad he retired from acting, but I understand why he did so.
I love the way she looks at him at 3:00. Like she's not sure if he's going to hurt her or he's for real going to be good to her. Finally she trusts and belts out "Seymour's my man!". Wow.
You’ve gotta factor in that the way he holds her at 3:00 is probably the first gentle touch she’d ever gotten from a man
Watching Audrey become a confident woman while singing this song, it gets me every time 😳😢😍
Right?
Basically, "Welcome To Act II. We're gonna go kill a motherfucker."
It's PERFECT.
Audrey and Seymour: [are having a moment]
The Greek Chorus: 💃💃💃
XD
this cracked me up. 😂
Timeless classic that I'll NEVER get tired or listening too or watching.
Can watch this movie every day!!!!
@@mccrimmonrobert yes lol sometimes throughout the day I’ll sing a song lol
They belt every line out with all their might and you can literally feel every emotion being conveyed.
I love this guy. I love this song too
GAY ❤️
ellen greene what a voice can listern to her voice all day
Using the stairs etc - it KILLS me that Frank Oz didn't go on to direct a bunch more movie musicals. His vision was perfect
The character Audrey is so mousy and speaks in such a breathy ditz manner that the audience is caught off guard when she transforms her squeaky ditz voice into powerful singing nearly on a par with a Whitney Houston performance. It is awesome. She should have won an academy award for this.
This is a reference to the "trauma voice"
You can diagnose PTSD at an 85% accuracy with machine learning and a 5 minute clip of a patient talking, obviously followed up by a full interview.
God, I remember watching this when it came out. I was like seven. And I remember crying when I heard this song for the first time. I never outgrew that. I cry whenever I'm at a live musical. I'm weird. Anyway, now as a "40ish" woman I'm still so impressed by Audrey in this scene. How she uses that meek little speaking voice then busts it open when she sings "Seymour".
And I grew up being able to sing this song JUST as good as her...in my mind😉
I'm 46 and right there with you.
I just had to come upstairs and sit alone in our room to cry like a baby to this magnificent piece of music.
You feel despair, exhaustion, yet limitless hope at the same time.
wow the same for me! i used to watch this VHs all the time and this was my favorite song besides steve martins dentist song lol
@libertyloveslife5602 Steve was such an amazing Orin.. Sad that "Now (It's just the gas)" was cut out, that was always one of my favorite songs in the musical as well.
The best version of this song ever
Notice how Audrey’s voice is only proper when she feels safe and confident, any other time she speaks and sings with the lisp.
This movie is so perfectly cast. Moranis is the perfect combination of nerdy and cute, and Greene is just, well Greene, a unique talent suited to this role.
I get goosebumps at 2:34 when Ellen Greene belts out Suddenly Seymour and I love how she pronounces it Seh-more
her voice is so beautiful - she almost everytime touches my eyes with tears
The sound quality is phenomenal
Ok.. this is CLEARLY a mix and mastered version u can tell and I LOVE IT!! just when u thought the song couldn’t get any better
Incredible music direction. The play was great. I was there. But the film is on another level. The subtle tweaks to the score and the vocalizations, amazing. Geniuses.
Agree!
There are lots of covers sung and they are pretty good but the original is just perfect. Rick M. is not a singer but he captures that sweet essence that this song is about. And of course Ellen’s voice is beautiful.
Rick Moranis nails it. Can’t sing? I beg to differ. He blows away every other Seymour I’ve ever heard.
@@Userick10 point out to me I said he can’t sing?
@@Userick10he just said he isnt a singer professionally, not that he doesnt sing well.
This version was heard during the closing credits of Little Shop of Horrors (the final song played).
along with the oddest Geffen closing logo.
is shows the logo, but after a few seconds, the text fades and the logo moves backwards in to the background, almost like the opening logo in reverse, but the logo is still when it happens
This has got to be one of the most maximalist vocal performances ever.
I Only discovered this song today and I have already listened to it like 20 times, I am beyond obsessed with the melody and her incredibly outstanding voice and performance. I've watched a lot of best musical moments compilations and this wasn't in any of those videos, unbelievable
You need to go watch the whole movie. Every single song is amazing.
@@glopnessm0nster144 i watched it shortly after i wrote the comment🤣 i loved the songs, skid row, somewhere thats green, grow for me, dentist, and the movie was great too, except for the ending😭
GOOD GOD!! THAT WARM FIRE CRACKLE VINYL SOUND AT THE START... THE WAY IT OUGHT TO BE. AMAZING
One difference is this doesn't include the outro music after the kiss, but overall this version does seem more powerful.
I've always had a crush on Seymour idk why just did
Guys with glasses!😍
@@tvaddict6623 I wear glasses.
-Because he is short and meek- ?
SAME :0
He's a murdered
Maybe you really like bad boys
Damn, after all these years, this song still makes me rather emotional. I remember when my granddad dubbed a copy of this movie from the video store when this came out on VHS in 1987. I would always watch this movie at his house.
This movie is 35 years old and its still a gem!
I fell in love with Broadway when I saw this at 7years old
Whew...she blew this song out the water! I love this film!
I miss this show so much! Listening to this makes me cry!! Playing Audrey was the best 💚❤️
The guitar run on the second last note really seals the movie version as the ultimate version of this song
This is a masterpiece and she is fantastic. She is so powerful ! I have been watching this movie for my entire life
There are definitely some differences. Rick sings the first verse a little more softly and he doesn't punch the word "*Here*," Ellen's first line is in a slightly higher key, and the music is mixed differently. Weird that it still syncs.
Good God the vocals in this soundtrack ♥️😭
I’m a 42 yo man and the songs in this production still bring tears 😭 to my eyes.
I'm a 72 year old lady and just fell in love with this song after my son loaned me this movie. It's my new play over and over song. It had me crying the first several times.
I'm 73...same thing
Ellen Greene's voice makes me feel so safe
Outstanding vocals... pure talent..
Greatest love song of the 1980s.
I think probably one of the best version of this masterpiece! Just amazing and beautiful! Powerful! With excelent voices of these wonderful artists! Thank you!! 😘😘😘
I felt like I was the only one who noticed that just before their kiss, Audrey’s hands were shaking a little bit. That just shows how long she’s been waiting for that and dreaming of that moment. Love all those little details
Listening to this literally gets me high.
Love the scratch at the beginning. I wish that this was still how we listened to music today.
Ellen is incredible. In every way. Her live performances give me chills
This brings so many memories of when I first heard her voice. I feel the emotions. I want to cry. ❤️
What a great recording of a Beautiful song.
OMG, I still get chills down my spine every time I hear this! If they decide to do a remake, they better get Rick and Ellen to reprise their roles!
@@z.7815 yeah, they'd probably make Audrey II CGI.
@@z.7815 they are doing it. Here are the actors that are in talks of playing some of the cast
Taron Egerton as Seymour
Scarlett Johansson as Audrey
Billy Porter as the voice of Audrey II
Chris Evans as Orin Scrivello
@Numinous123 hes actually gonna come out of retirement for a Honey I shrunk the kids Spin-off called Shrunk
AMF Videos wait Audrey ll wasn’t CGI?
I wouldn't be surprised if they revive the musical on stage considering that it looks like Rick is making a slow comeback into acting.
I just think it's important that every person watches this movie at least once, just to see what is possible.
Thank you for sharing this fantastic restored beauty. Awesome.
This particular song and act is so underrated.
i love rick moranis
I had no idea he could sing - just remember him from Ghostbusters.
Perfect film!
Amazing version, thank you!!!
By far the best recording!
One of my all time favorite scenes from a film I memorized as a teen. Ugh love it so much.
best version i can find online, thanks dude
Exceptional recording! Thank you SOo sOo much!!!! 👍👍🙏🤗
Audrey's voice sounds a lot different when she's singing
Yeah, she transitions from her mousey character voice to her awesome singing voice and it's great.
Wow the video and sound is just amazing on this
I was only 5 years old when this performed and I have this on VHS.
I can listen to this over and over and ...
Pure Awesomeness !
Love listening to this. Brilliant.
my all time favorite role was playing Seymore. Love every note.
I saw this when I was 16 and boy...did I have a crush on her! 🙂
The way he appears behind the wall always gets me 😂 1:36
If only I could go back to 1986
I hated 1986 with a passion.
Brillante!!!!
Good god! I forgot how much I loved this movie.
gives me chills every time!!!
I love the trio on the balcony, their names are Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon. I'm assuming this is a tribute to three of the major girl singing groups. The Crystals, Ronnettes and The Chiffons.
Imagine the reception this song would receive of it was new today
She was way underrated as a a vocal artist. She’s a beautiful singer
I think it's performances like these which were so emotionally impactful to audiences, that forced the producers & studio to film a more "happier" ending than that of the original play's.
Thanks for the good audio!
My fav scene!!
Magnificent duo they both sing this song beautifully I get the chills and cry because their singing shows me they genuinely care about each other🥹🥰👏🏼❤️❤️✨✨
His face at 1:00 - 1:03 😍😍😍😍 ahhhh i can't /.\ xD
He reminds me of a cat
Such Great. Blessed Talent .. Omg!!! So Good!!!
It's hard to believe this is the same actress who played Mathilda's mother in "The Professional". Audrey was such a sweet character.
💀
SUPER EXCELENTE VIDEO HERMOSO SOLO CONOCEDORES .... LIKE UNO DE MIS FAVORITOS..
Ellen Greene did this at age 64 in a concert version with Jake Gyllenhaal as Seymour.... The production was wonderful and Ellen Greene still killed the role!
so good !
_Still._ The. Greatest. Love-Song. Ever.
awwww they're so adorable together
Sensationell ❤ i love it!
Ellen Greene,s Voice is Awesome & Amazing the Uncut Version of this film is Sad I have Both copies of the film on dvd thanks for the upload Audrey reminds me of the abuse from men that she's gone through, the same as me I've been through it to it's not easy to express how she feels it's scary but Seymour is the real deal It's lovely for both characters to find true love.
She’s incredible!!!
Love, love , love...
Wonderfull! Just wonderfull...
I don't hate to admit it......
I no all the words to every song
Love the songs, love the movie, love the actors. But Greene is what keeps me enchanted.
cheers...........this is 4-ever part of my life.....
Omg thank you!!!
I love the movie. I downloaded it and found that the ending was NOTHING like I've seen on TV! Anyone else experience this difference?
The ending of the movie or the song
In the original ending, Audrey II wins and everyone dies. Test audiences didn't like it so they changed it to where Seymour and Audrey get married, while showing a baby Audrey II to imply that something bad might happen. The original ending was later released afterwards.
@@eclipsical9850 yes omg I'm still traumatised hahahaa. I just watched it few days ago. And I was like that didn't happen. Lol now I'm trying to get the alternative happy ending.
@@bluesanc88 When I saw that ending I was like...uh...wait...that's not right. I completely doubted how I remembered the movie.
@@eclipsical9850 Esoteric, a little like Rocky Horror.
Just WOW!
The accent is a course fake for the role. Her voice is a trained Broadway actress. She possesses tremendous ability to project your voice and still be in tune.
This is so good.
