    It’s would b cool to see a video where u swap ur northern style of fishing with your southern, I know it would b tough but a Florida surf fishing video with a big rod and plugs looking for trophies would b epic and than in the spring wen ur back up north hit the small back waters around the island and pop the sod banks for some bass and blues

    What’s your process to locating the right creek that holds snook when it’s cold? There’s so many it’s overwhelming to find the right one

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 8 měsíci

      Depth. The shallow waters cool fast on those cold fronts and the snook must head for creeks and channels with deeper water.

    Hey John - I need a recommendation for a rod/reel for top water lures from a kayak. I fish mostly in the Florida panhandle area. Usually use a 7'6" but that's a little too long to properly work a top water while sitting in a kayak. Thinking maybe a 6', but hoping you can give me a specific suggestion. Thanks in advance. Stan L. Panama City, FL

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 8 měsíci

      I know exactly how you feel about the 7'6'' in the kayak. I don't like it, although some do. The red rod I'm using is a 7', and I think it's perfect for the inshore fishing I do in SW Florida bit.ly/45GoMej. Another good one is this Tsunami Carbon Shield II. bit.ly/3RBDZIO. BTW, I have 6-footers but don't care for them for this fishing.

    Hi John, I am going on the Viking five star in about a week for a wreck trip and I have your jig and bounce heavy rod, do you think that rod will be able to handle the heavy sinkers and that trip in general? I assume it will as I’ve seen you use it for stripers with heavy sinkers and those huge fish.

    Awesome video! Hey question do you think the kayak you have is to big??
    I live in nassau county so im thinking of getting a kayak to fish around bridges but not sure what size would be best any suggestions would help…
    I heard the 120 is more stable than the 132 so im not sure which way to go

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 8 měsíci

      I chose the 120 because the stripped hull weight is 85 pounds, and I can manage that. It's the same weight as my Hobie Outback hull. You have to think about transport.

      Dicks sporting good had a crazy sale the other day I got the old town 132 pdl for 1750 out the door. I wanted the 12ft but I had to jump on this deal…
      Im thinking of maybe trying to sell this brand new kayak and then purchasing the 120 pdl
      Or do you think I should keep the 132 so in the future I could put a front trolling motor?
      Idk what to do! Haha

    It's just great to catch fish to eat them, but there seems to be something regretful to tear a hook out of the mouth of a fish just to let it go. I have yet to see a video of a fisherman letting fish go, and then say he caught the same one again. Does this mean the fish are actually debilitated and on a path to an untimely demise because of the hook injury? Are there any studies in this regard?

    • @rubecork7102
      @rubecork7102 Před 8 měsíci

      @thegoods2240 Nevertheless, a study would be valuable, because there are various places a fish can be hooked. For all we know, the one you caught secondly might have been just caught in the lip.

    • @callmeishmaelk767
      @callmeishmaelk767 Před 8 měsíci

      Fish forget the incident after 10 minutes. Had a huge one, lost it, the only thing on the fish finder was the same huge fish. Brought it in the boat 15 minutes later. Striped bass in the Delaware Bay.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Catch and release mortality has been studied in depth and is factored into fishing regulations. My son caught the same largemouth in the same fishing spot 3x is one first-hand example I have of fish surviving fine.

    • @rubecork7102
      @rubecork7102 Před 8 měsíci

      @@JohnSkinnerFishing I don't believe it was in depth. If it were, the fishing regulations would include HOW to proceed after a catch based upon WHERE the hook was attached and ripped from. I have never seen anyone's video with the slightest concern about where a hooked caught a fish nor any regulation associated with it.
      It's a general principle that predators target weaker prey. It is counter-intuitive to have any regulations that insist on throwing back fish that are undersized, just to make them become the new target of a predator because they are now weakened by the injury of the catch.
