This is part one of our series "Accurizing the 770". This is an overview and a little history about this economical firearm! truearmsllc www.truearmsllc.com
Got a 770 chambered in 30-06 I took it out of the plastic stock and laid into a Boyds Laminated Spike Camp Thumbhole. So far this year I have taken two Beautiful 8 points both over 170yrds. High shoulder shot and dropped one,the other was a dounle lung. Hit right where I aimed without any problem, my bolt seems to work just fine and the gun will kill...
Remington should be ashamed of themselfs. A couple tweaks can help the 770. Take the bolt stop out, make one out of Stainless. Polish the Bolt to a Mirror, and polish, dont grind the plastic insert, that bolt rides , back and forth on. I think SAVAGE, Should buy Remington Arms, and show them how to bring a 700 back to full Glory, and how to make the budget rifles quite good. Great Video, you are a Professional Lad.
I have the 770 in 300 win mag it’s very accurate for deer hunting I shot a doe at 125 yds it dropped as far as recoil goes it has a kick it gets uncomfortable after 3 or 4 shots so I bought a limb saver butt pad it does just fine
I have had two Remington 770 7mm Mag rifles. Both had the identical sticky bolt issue but always shot very accurate out to 300 ish meters. The one i have now, i hit steel Silhouette at 500 with 2 of the 4 shots i had loaded. first 2 were low and the second two i aimed just above the head and drilled them. Tried the 700 meter targets with a remaining 2 rounds and i didnt hit it, even though it was just a large steel square. Cheap rifle but good enough for what i will use it for. PS>>>> My wife grouped better with it than i did at 100meters......... BUT she didnt hit the longer range targets that i did. lol . Looking into a Khantrol muzzle device ..
Hold on for 10 years the only problem I've had is the bolt stop shared back a little bit and now if you're not careful you Jack the boat all the way out when you eject your round
I just wanted a basic utility rifle. Got the 770 around 10 years ago. Will it last 2000 rounds? I don't know, and don't care, and will never find out. I've put less than 15 rounds through it. I may put less than 20 more before I die. It's perfectly fine for folks like me. I was looking for an Nissan, not a BMW. Out of the box the bolt seemed a tad sticky but after a good cleaning, light lube, and working it back and forth some it smoothed out. Trigger is not as light as I'd prefer, but it's serviceable.
It is a great little machine. Haha. The Grizzly G0791. However, for bigger milling jobs, it’s impossible since there isn’t a large enough table to attach certain components. However, slide cutting, muzzle brakes, etc....this is a perfect little machine for it. The lathe itself is amazing. I love the lathe lol.
I love my cheap guns, like my model 500's, My Marlin 60 and 995SS, my single shot shotguns, and I even have an H&R Buffalo Classic in 45/70 that I shot a Muskoxen with. Right out of the Hornady handbook was a spicy load for a modern break-action. The projectile was a 300 grn RNJSP with 53 grains of IMR 4350 pushing it. (I believe it was 4350..been a few decades since I've reloaded anything now). I even mounted a cheap scope on it, and bagged the muskoxen somewhere near Bathurst Inlet Lodge on April 13th 1998, my dad's birthday.
This rifle was a good rifle basically all the all of them are I think basically what's wrong is the stocks are too cheap I think if you get a void stock and replace on the 770 or any of those guns and make the stock solid so it won't move or anything I think you got yourself a good deer rifle
Crazy I had to get this rifle and needed a used one cause season openers coming soon and on short notice was told that i can hunt my rifle spot this year and it was $345 out the door shame the prices are up on firearms. Hope it was worth it
I have a model in stainless with a green camo stock and I can say , with the price point and cheap scope i can get a 1.2 group at 300 yards,I say take your time and then send it...., breath.,,..
You can get a Savage axis ii XP $450 The 770 $150 each what I've spent. That rifles reliable from factory there's no need of doing anything to the stock or the rifle by it shoot it use it up then throw it away.
They work for what they are built for. Adequate for hunting but kinda trash for any sort of target shooting. I wish they would have forgone the scope and improved the bolt and the receiver itself. They still have polymer bits on the top of where the bolt rides (bolt stop I think). They could have made a much more solid rifle with a bit more design intelligence and manufacturing. Look at the Ruger americans. Just a bit more money and they are far better rifles. Someone gave me one and I kinda don't even know what to do with it as 7mm mag is so expensive and I don't hunt. I have always wanted a long range rifle and I could upgrade this thing to shoot ok, but if I am going to sling 7mm mag I want to be doing so past 500 yards and I don't see this rifle doing it all that well. I have seen people do it, but not with a great deal of accuracy. I think they were shooting at full silhouette steels.
Is my go to for ELK hunting season with 7mm mag and 300win mag 👍🏽 good for me not one problem with them Good shooting rifles I'v got 6 ELK 👍🏽🤠 I did put new scoop's on them. Why wood you want to upgrade a $150 rifle for 🤔🤨

Same rifle chambered in 30-06 filled my deer tag at 300 yards no issues

Had mine 10 years bolt stop falty.
I just replaced my bolt stop lever and it was the culprit for the bolt flying out. Had it for 12 years and it's still pretty accurate.

I'm more interested in that lathe/mill combo hiding behind you. I need that in my life.

yea that's what I'd want it for is slide milling. Is the lathe strong enough to chamber barrels with or no?
Yessir! It’s a 12x36 running a 2 HP motor. It chambers just fine
that's awesome!! Thanks for the reply....I've been looking to pick one up but haven't been able to find anyone that's been hands-on for a review.

My dad's 770 in 7mm will shot 1" groups at a 100 all day
I know this video is 2 years old .. But could someone tell me if parts for the 700 interchangeable with the 71o models
How satisfied are you with this Remington 770 model?
I got a 7mm Mag I Polish the bolt very smooth now I don’t like the way the screw is in the back neither
