    I guess you could disassemble your dryer to replace the door switch. I just popped the switch out the front, replaced it, and popped it back in. Gave it a pull and on side came free. A little persuasion from my trusty pocketknife and the other side popped out. The whole operation took about a minute, including thirty seconds of wondering why anybody wouldn't try this first.

    • @WasherDryerMoney
      @WasherDryerMoney  Před 2 lety +4

      I have had some where I could just pop them out from the front but I’ve also had them where they really don’t want to come out that easily.
      These machines are known for having lent built up next to the fan that causes overheating and slow drying. I would still recommend popping the front off and fixing the lid switch this way just so you can also double check for lint buildup around the fan. Better safe than sorry with dryers there the number one cause of house fires.
      But good point is definitely more than one way to skin a cat.

    Definitely liked! 👍🏿 Mines was kind of a dead giveaway. A few weeks ago I noticed I had to close the door two or three times to get it to work. Tonight it wouldn’t start at all so I opened it back up and wiggled the switch. It came on for a split second then died again. I also noticed the switch doesn’t seem to “click” whenever I press it with my thumb, not sure if it’s supposed too or not. “Well if ain’t one thing it’s another around here.”

      Most GE dryer‘s have a Cut off switch when the belt breaks. If the drama turns extremely easily by hand it’s probably a broken belt. Check that first.

    Hi im a female, lost. My dryer wont turn on and light wont turn on. If its the door switch causing it not to turn on, then wouldnt the light STAY on? Like thinking the door was open, hence causing it not to start? Or could the switch just go completely out causing both the light to not turn on and the dryer not to start?

    Hello there... i have a kenmore. Not sure on the yr cuz its my gmas. I was doing laundry. Realized one of my kids must've put a pen somewhere even tho I WAS DOING BLANKETS AND CHECKED IT ALL but the pen still snuck through lol.. it opened and got ink everywhere!! I tried removing everything i could with alcohol and acetone after soap and water didn't work. Also i tried a tiny bit of comet with soap and water but that didn't quite work either which is why i googled and it suggested to use alcohol and/ or acetone polish remove.. it got enough off to where i don't think it will come off anymore lol it was difficult to get to some spots. I was moving the drum back and forth instead of getting all double jointed since I'm a fat momma with lupus and Fibromyalgia and can't move that well anymore. No linger 95 lb high school kid lol anyhoo... i did lean on the door a bit but i was being careful ( I THOUGHT) when needing to lean against it a bit. So my issue is that the door doesn't stay closed now so it won't stay on. Lol atm i have clear gorilla tape to keep it working but it still stops every now and again. Our door opens downward. Its a rectangular door. The little light and door clicker is hanging ( if looking at the dryers from the front with door open) its on the top right and it IS NOT broken. ( i watched about 20 vids lmao) i pressed down on it and the light turns off as if the door is closed and the drum will move if i push it down and press start and as soon as i let go it stops.. now...i can see the top middle fastener piece that clicks into that plastic slit piece to the door that helps keep the door closed. Neither of those pieces are broken either. Now the only other thing i could think of it the metal door hinges that are to the left and right of the door. They seem to be working find BUT i also did see a video where they can need to be replaced even if they work fine and like i said i am a big chika now and either the connecter pieces that snap together to help close the door may not be broken but may be lose OR I'm assuming its that we need new door hinges??? Lol sorry on my descriptions but i don't know the names of all the pieces even after watching 20 or more repair kenmore vids because my comprehension is a bit *bleep* lol... if you could give me a suggestion or 2 that would be amazeballz.. lmao if bot its all good! Just hoping to save my g-ma a service call since we did just get the washer fixed but it took months and months for the replacement part to come in and them the insurance guys tried giving my gma the run around but she handed them their ass treating her as if shea dumb cuz she's one smart lady. Lol also my grandpa who's just starting to have bad alz heimer issies took his car and floored it into reverse hitting my gmas car, my uncles, and flattened the neighbors yard so she's paying for insur. stuff for that issue, for her car, and the neighbors yard the insur. is paying for. And the day that all happened the electrician was fixing our crap electricity my grandfather must've rigged very poorly when he rebuilt the extension to the house cuz all the issues were the parts he did yrs ago hahaha lmao SoOoo... i was KIND OF HOPING & 🙏 i could fix it myself as I'm usually quite handy once I'm taught or told how to fix something, also because I'm the one who caused all the madness 😆.. i thought i could help her out and fix my mistake myself (with the power off of course!!) Hahaha
    ( also sorry for the craycray novel) 🤣🤣🤣

      What you trying to get the ink out with was what I would suggest. Sometimes permanent ink really is pretty permanent and you may have to get a really good hard paint and just paint over the permanent ink marks. Be sure to let it good and dry before you put any clothes in it. As far as the door not sharing if the hinges are bent you could just take them off and see if you can straighten them out with a hammer on a nice hard surface. Otherwise you might be able to find the exact same hangers on a website like Appliance Parts Pro.com
      You’ll see you can put your model number and they will show you every part that is on that particular dryer. If you find it it’s too expensive on that website just copy the part number and paste it into eBay. Good luck

      @@WasherDryerMoney thank you. The ink pen leak was just the reason why i think the door wouldnt shut after. Since i was foing inside to clean the ink off i feel i most likely leaned on the door too much even though i tried not to. Lol I WAS able to get most the ink off. At least enough where it won't transfer to any clothes anymore. Lol my issue was the door itself bot fully closing. But thanks for the help. Im going to try the lttle plastic and metal door latch kit replacement first ( prob buy or find on the pro.com) you suggested. Then if that doesn't work i will try the door levers after. Lol i saw a guy say all it needs is a couple whacks in each side with a mallet bahaha but i highly doubt my g-ma would want me to try that bahaha if it was mine id try but i can't since it isn't mine lol thmx for the help lol

    WDM, Thank you for this Video. My GED33EASKWW stopped wanting to start. So with any electrical device we need to make sure the electricity is getting where it needs to go. So yea any time there are switches they get checked first. I just did not know how to disassemble the dryer in an easy way and put back easy. So if it is OK to ask, what does the appliance industry call the door/start switches. Referring to switch types like, single pole single trow etc. If both door/start switch work then the next thing I would check is the heat resister which is also a switch. I have replaced these before because people do not vent nor care for their appliance correctly. Appliance manual is just junk book to them but that is OK. Pay me now that you do not read book. LOL

    • @WasherDryerMoney
      @WasherDryerMoney  Před 3 lety

      Go to appliance parts pros website and you can use your model number to find every part that’s in your dryer. It’s a great site for finding the right part number and part name. Some GE dryer‘s have a cut off switch that tripped when the belt breaks. Also be sure to check the obvious that the dryer is getting proper power.
