Be realistic, 41:01 No NRI wants Indian Colleges to set up campuses in Foreign, They enroll in Foreign University for that Nametag of a foreign institution in their resume and research facility. An Indian institution invests very little in research facility, so It's foolish to think an institution that does not invest in India will invest Foreign. In fact India want foreign Universities in India Because Indian Universities not well funded and those foreign Universities will invest in Social Sciences instead of actual Sciences to Brainwash. Braindrain in Sciences will Continue. Collaboration don't increase ranking but funding and facility does. Rajiv Malhotra is right about becoming Viswachela. Start improving Indian Institutions first then dream.

    1) First UGC should remove quota systems (reservation systems) and entrance examinations for entering into top universities such as IIT, IISc, etc.
    2) The Indian education should be free for everyone and should be funded by taxation collected from Tax payers.
    3) All Indian universities should have same set of standardized laboratories, across the nation.
    4) Indian education system should be run on model of curiousity.

Do u think that this nep is good or it change nothing?

    • @user-jk8vc5zr9z
      @user-jk8vc5zr9z Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you for your question.
It is difficult to answer your question. As NEP has a projective plan till 2035, as stated by Dr. M. Jagadesh ji. It is evident that it takes a lot of time to reform and completely change our Indian Education system. One of the point he has mentioned was about Multiple exit and entrance into the system. This ideology was taken from Canadian Education Policy for higher education. I am not sure whether it would be a good approach (because many students could take unethical advantage of it). This may also lead to society peer-pressure and may result in adverse situation for student. On the other hand, it could be good for students who have a certain medical conditions. Here, my thought is that the career break should be an open option but the time duration should be less than a year. Please note that Year breaks are common in many foreign universities but are most strict towards Postgraduates and PhD candidates. I have seen many students who took year breaks and then lose hope in continuation of their education career.
Few points, I agreed upon with Dr. Jagadesh ji are as follows:
      1) Industrial connects and earlier exploration of industries to students, for bringing boost in innovations (with combination of desirability, viabilty and feasibility). This was designed by an american professor (Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the professor). He projected this Innovation steps in 1980's or so? under title Design Thinking.
      2) Training students on Communication with Stakeholders and digital content creation, respectively.
      3) Working within diverse culture (i.e. student from across the globe) on a research project.
Here, in India, we need to first understand the student mindset and their social-economical backgrounds. And based on such market research only, UGC has to plan, design and execute new reformed policy. I am sure UGC have pursued this survey and have backed up with documentation of this data, before execution of their policy.
Let's hope for the best. There are many challenges ahead. Indian education system is one of the most challenging to reform.

Mr. Jagdeesh Kumar - Please remove the 'Migration Certificate' requirement in higher education institutions. It is an antiquated procedure that causes more problems than it solves any problem. Also, if you want to keep it, make it mandatorily online for all universities. It is very difficult for working people to physically travel to their previous university to get admission into new university.

Hi Abhijit Sir, First of all , i commend you for your efforts in discussing such important issues and bringing it out in front. I have few observation which i want to share in hope that it is reached to the relevant person/authorities. Other than education, we should also need to focus on changing our mindset towards skilled labour job profiles. In Europe, a barber or a cook or a plumber is paid almost same salary as an IT professional at beginner level. They are treated with respect. We can all agree that not everyone could be academically bright, some will be gifted with skilled labour proficiency. We need to give them their dues, create an environment where they are treated with respect. Second point i want to raise is i totally agree that we need to rebuild our proficiency in sanskrit and also learn other regional languages for better communal harmony. UGC may also look to launch online courses on languages which can be pursed by anyone to improve on these areas.

Wonderful interview, Abhijit. Geopolitics and economics are important, but schools are where the rubber really meets the road. So, thank you.!T o Dr. Jagadesh Kumar's point about raising the rankings of Bharateeya universities, there is too much of soft-corruption even in top schools like IISc, Bengaluru. Unless junior faculty feel a sense of independence and agency in growing their research, their minds won't think as creatively as they could, and ultimately rankings suffer. Sensitizing university administrators with workshops and periodic training, without turning campuses into politically correct police states, will yield outsized rewards.

Every student shld ask 1 question. If any teachers refuse take questions withhold salaries. 2. Most teachers in India are substandard in terms of communication, expertise, personality. We shld connect all schools by high speed internet and relay expert teachings from best teachers, teachers shld clarify questions and support students

@Abhijit : marvellous job of getting such illustrious people, albeit unknown to open media, on your show and give us all an insight into what a new education policy of Modiji government has in store. I also loved every minute of your show on semiconductor history. You woke me up rudely with the news of burning down od Semi Conductor Complex at Mohali in the early 70s ( when I was in college thrn and was left in deep sorrow), a case most cettainly was yhe handicam of CIA in collision with ISI from next door, which wanted india not to climb the ladder of an jnseen world then! This is one case whete durptidingly enough no enquiries of any mention were conducted leaves much to say about the Congress government in place then. Furthermore even establishing such a premier institute and research lab in such a close proximity itself should have been probed. A sad state of affairs indeed, while nothing short of criminals rule a state.

Giving importance to Indian languages in education is really good. Teaching can very well be multilingual. Publishing text books in Indian languages is also laudable. But permitting students to right one answer in English, another one in Tamil and a third one in Hindi is far stretched.

After some rumination, the overall goal of the 'transforming Indian education' effort is not clear to me. The part about NEP looks great so far. I am thinking that Dr. Jagadesh Kumar is not being honest about the motivation for, and the safeguards in place, to check the quality of who will be setting up campuses in Bharat. 'Top 500' is literally like scraping the bottom of the barrel. Top 100 might make a difference. Also, this influx of foreign universities could be like the effect of cable TV all over again. Bharat let in American cable TV channels in the 90s, and the outcome has been mixed at best and damaging at worst. Rather than universities, get polytechnics from Germany and Japan to set up trade schools in Bharat and charge students for the training. For research collaborations, engage top schools across the world - who want to come will come, no need to force it.

Much time of the discussion was dedicated to a simple topic called 'Training Methods'. May be Mr. Jagdish Kumar is targeting the audience with a general understanding of the topic.

Such a high profile person and still he didn't seem to have any nuances in his thoughts or discussions. Majority of the talk was pretty Much of a surface level discussion rather than thoughtful insights. Can we expect real influential changes when the authority doesn't seem to be insightful??

Now so many private Institutions are exploiting middle class families. Their fees are very high to a senior citizen of private sector with minimum pension of 1000/ month. When will these Government or universities help common people to earn income at 70 years. Even Public sector bank has to finance as educational loan for learning skills of artificial intelligence or Robotics or data science, Machine learning etc.. instead of NBFC. NBFC take loan with minimum interest from Public sector banks and to middle class families. Public sector bank have money deposited by middle class families. Otherwise Government or Universities have give certificate courses of above subjects to reduce unemployment problems, which may arise due to artificial intelligence adopted by many Government or Private or Public sector units. Even Doctorates, wish to proceed with post Doctorate have less opportunities. GOD Alone can help middle class community.
