Top 5 Pots Of My Poker Career (Featuring Isildur1)

- Doug takes a stroll down memory lane and reviews the five largest pots he's ever played. A few of them are against Viktor "Isildur" Blom, an opponent with whom he had some extensive blood matches. Also featured are the mysterious malACEsia and Denoking/wilhasha.
Some of these hands are standard, some of them are off the wall, and all of them have enormous six-figure pots. These were all played on Full Tilt Poker, the premier destination for high stakes poker before its recent closure.
Doug is in Vancouver for the PokerStars WCOOP. Check out his full schedule here: pbs.twimg.com/media/CrdIv7kVI...

Your analysis of the AA v 89 hand was top notch Doug. Good job
Restricted The board was gross and it was a great call.
really? not many strong hands Isildur has? 86s, 66, A6s, 96s, K6s, 55, 77, A2s, TT, 75s, 44, T7s - that is a fuk ton of combos. Yet call OTR is fine
mindaza0 66 and 55 don’t raise flop there. A set on that dry flop doesn’t raise the flop there either so eliminate all sets. Much less combos than that the way preflop action played out
@@coyotes16 Can't be sure of all that, what you can be sure of tho is that Isildur is a loose and crazy player, so could easily have been a bluff, by missed flush or straight etc.. I believe, alltho it's dangerous that reraising on the flop would have been better cuz if isildur had no straight on the turn he probably folded there, otherwise you give your opponent a free ticket to the river and more chance to lose the pot ofc...
In fairness to Malacesia there is every chance they never actually slow rolled you. For all you know they could have been sitting at the table all loosey goosey eating a sandwich before electing to call.
Everything you do at the poker table conveys information.
Juanda had trips
Maybe he had a cigarette dangling from his mouth
In fairness to Malacesia, he slowrolled because he is alowed to do so! Every Bumhunter will still love to suck ahm play poker with him :).
24magiccarrot.....carrots this...there is no justice. ..look at POStle
that's what a slow roll is
hahaha a lambo on the river
You`re a natural at this CZcams thing, Doug.
I`m only a casual player but i`m enjoying your uploads. You`re good at this.
This was amazing, I love the content man. Job well done.
Ty, Doug for all the videos. Helped me open my eyes wider 👍👏
Wow Doug, i was tilted after today's session and your video changed my mood completly. Seeing how you telling a story about being slowrolled in a 400k pot with a smile on your face is incredible. You are always so positive, i need to learn that too. Love you man.
@Doug Polk Poker I can't believe I missed this video! Love it! Had me stressing lol
almost 5 years after you made this i have learned alot in the last few months of watching you. with a solid balance im not just winning. hopefully in another year or two ill have a hand on this channel. god speed
Great video Doug! Keep them coming!!!!
one of the most interesting videos i've seen i wish there were more of these type of videos
Great as always doug! Keep it up!
awesome video Doug ! now I'm curious about that sauce hand you briefly mentioned.
wow. sick analysis with the AA on the one card to a straight. well done. great call!
very very nice vid doug...really interesting to see the thinking process of a nosebleeds player in some though spots
I imagine Doug going absolutely batshit crazy on the AKcc hand flopping the nut flush vs top set for almost 500k screaming HOLD HOLD HOLD like a maniac. God I know that would've been my reaction lol.
like mel gibson in braveheart holdddddd!!
HODOR
Loved watching those high stakes games. Even the chat was entertaining!
Loved the video. The coolest one I've seen from you.
Never get tired of watching these hands :)
Fantastic analysis. Awesome
You handled that slow roll better than I would have.
great vid mate (Y) thanks for uploading fun to watch
such a great guy doug, respect.
Thanks for the insight! Great video.
So so sick..with the AA against isuldur...people don't realize how incredibly difficult it is to call with AA on that board texture. Especially with that amount of money. HERO!!!
"Oh Doug you have to call" - yeah dude let's see you put it in with aces 😂😂
I saw hand #2 live. I watched the entire session while I was working on a project in the Comp Sci building. I just remember Doug losing sooo many huge hands that it was painful to watch.
lol, aces vs kings for 500bb :D running good! Great analysis of the hero call with aces vs Isildur!
I love watching guys play poker with their life savings lol....enjoyed the video
for me whats crazy...when they playing life cash games its like different peoples when they play online...online they play like crazy maniacs...no wonder so many PRO players went broke playing online
These "PROs" (Eli Elezra, Gus Hansen, Mike Mattusow and many others) went boke online because they found out the hard way that online players are just so much better than the fish they were used to playing with in life games and also much better than themselves.
You can even put in greats like Phl Ivey in there, who were crushing life fish but were crushed themselves by playing against much better players online we don't even know their names.
Michel Smiffi nahh most likely when you play same peoples over and over...you just know everything about them....but when you play online its different
g
Best poker youtube thanks Doug!
Laughed it off? ahah i would've smashed my house up
will barlow and buying a new house might be cheaper
Awsome video "Team polk". It is very easy for others to make the calls when it is not there $$. Keep on grinding.
sick! the AA blades getting it done.
Doug is such a real one
drink every time Doug says "vividly"!
Loled at all the hands and his reactions
Love reading those morons trying to tell you how to play poker, makes my day.
Thanks so much for all the free material Doug. It's awesome to get insight on how a professional player breaks down the hands, opponents moves and how you read their possible hands.
Best of luck to you!
nice call with the aces
nice video Man !!! can´t imagine what would be play for that amount of money
really cool video dude!
Thanks Kevin
Kevin, love ur vids. But DUDE, get some sun! :p
Good job bro. That's some good pot!!

Malacesia was worried Doug had pocket 8's.
God your analyses are so dope thanks
dang i thought you were a scrub. I liked your videos but just thought you were an all theory kind of guy. I actually remember wcgrider from the 2+2 forums. You had the nice avatar of doug. Great cartoon btw :D Anyway enjoy the videos. Keep em comming! :P
LOL "This is a hand against Hitler" closed captions are so great
Doug Polk at least you had a free chance for his internet connection to go out lol
Saw you on pka! Dude please try to come back to thier podcast! One of the best guest
Why didn't you show the board on the first hand (AA vs. KK). Did you lose?
Legend
This vid is the shizzle ma nizzle!
I see that this is a rewatch for me, as I've already "liked" it. Young(er) Doug..lol. Maybe a NEW Top 5? You've played some large pots since, yes? GL GL and all the best!
Hi doug, im currently playing at Nordic, cash 1 table. I have been dealt 8T off 8 hands in a row.. coinsident or not?
what does doug say in the beginning about not as big as older pots, when what was running?
tx Doug
Could you share the sauce hand youre most proud of? I think I saw it somewhere (K high call?) and it was super sick, if you could provide us with reasoning it might be the most popular youtube strat vid ever :)
great hands
need more high stakes players like you who can help people like me who are in micro stakes explain hands etc nice job bud
Yeah you should feel good mate, awesome!✌️
This was really cool to watch. Your the man dp. Haha. I just said dp.
I enjoyed this video
here I was thinking 'tightman' was you coming at vogelsang lmao
Could you please tell us what was the Sauce123 hand too? :)
How do you play on pokerstars and fulltilt while in America? Aren't they banned in the US?
How big must your roll be to play HU against isildur 500bb deep 200/400?
I know it's not like a bread and butter game that runs daily but losing a 500k pot must hurt, unless you have 50M roll which we know nobody had except maybe gus hansen and PI.
I dig these type of videos. However, for online, especially against some of the players mentioned here, I think it'd be really interesting to go thru numerous hands at a table to get a better feel for your actions based on player tendencies, tells, ranges etc. To get more of a feel for what you're doing based on these ideas...
I lost a million that day. Jesus I can't even imagine having a million bucks yet alone loosing it in poker.
Money is really just dirty pieces of paper and second rate metals. Backed by air and lies. I wish they brought back the gold standard.
the poker nerd voice gets me EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
7:57 when you think the river was meant for you...ouch!
Top 10 poker video all time.
great video.
What a madman all in with high card 9 for 200k. ok xD When they all in im always in "theyalwayshaveit" town.
great call in the last hand with aces. put him on 89 hearts.
Nice vid
How large of a bankroll (or even entire life roll) do you guys have to have to play these nosebleeds? I've played for quite a few years and _never_ understood why would anyone play for such sick amounts of money. I mean the numbers equal like two sports cars in one, and a nice home in two pots. Where did you make the most of your $, was it online cash, online tourneys, live cash or live tourneys? Greetings from Finland, Doug.
I would imagine that people playing these high stakes have people who buy action, so like fund them X amount of dollars with the chance of making X percentage in return if you win.
Can someone explain to me what he means at 9.33 about not shipping with AA?
Lambo on the river confirmed
do you every play 1/2 hi/lo limit?
question: i can barely remember what i had for dinner the last 3 days but vividly remember a hand from 15 years ago. in every detail, history and notes from the guy, bet sizes, my whole process of thought. why?
pretty sick, nh's
awesome to see someone playing a single pot that eclipses all of my poker winnings over 5 years. I am having a hard time seeing the pot size...
nice vid
At the end, poker is all about making the right decisions ......and then pray it holds :)
Muauuauahahhahah MalACEsia's SAVAGE one
This was on FullTilt ? How much of this did you ever get to hold in your hand ?
damn that slowroll
anywhere we can find the sauce hand?
nice one!
casually drop the "i lost a million that day" classy doug
When isildur jams on the flop on the last hand, I wonder what you do if you only have the ace of clubs. What would be the play in that situation?
Holy fuck you used whom correctly! Well done mate.
Cheers!
+eszqsx1000 lol
drink vodka and play vodka!
Nice Video.
I don't understand the way your opponent played the KK in the first hand. I know it's heads up, you both were probably very aggressive. But still, did he expect you to shove QQ or AK for 500bb for value? Or did he expect a bluff over his 5bet often enough to justify stacking off? I might be a nit, but I just don't understand this play with such deep stacks.
Exactly my thought. Back in the old days of Sklansky or Harrington, this was the textbook spot to fold KK. However, ever since, some maniacs started to ship especially A5s (blocking an A, wheel, flush, overcard) in similar spots (maybe still slightly less deep) , making it a quite ugly situation. Still, when it doubt, the fold looks even in HU like the cleaner option to me. - And true, QQ and AK can never be for value, here.
lol yea fold kk to hyper aggro players hu that will work out great
Hey Doug, you could play a tournament live. Doesn't have to be big stakes, even a $5 dollars tournament would be awesome to see how you go about your hands against players that are not professional. I think many people would like to see something like this? maybe? thanks :P
search Doug Polk on Hendon Mob. His live results are pretty good considering hes mainly a HU NL cash player. He won the One Drop for his 3rd WSOP bracelet and has won other high rollers.
Wait, where was the flop in the AA v. KK hand?
hey doug .thit you win the AA vs KK ?
He's betting Lambo on the river 😂😂😂
how much u take for coachings doug ?
