  • Few feelings in poker are better than flopping a set in a game of high stakes poker. In this episode of Live At The Bike, Aaron does just that. To top it all off, his opponent Dan Zack is firing. However, it becomes a bit too much for Aaron as he gets check-raised on the river and contemplates letting it go. Calling would make it a pot of nearly $100,000. Can he really make this fold?

The player as good as Dan DO NOT often check-call a straight draw at turn and out position, it's a lose play, he may check-rise bluff at turn if he pick a open end or bluff two street. This also can reduce the chance of Dan to have TQs, T8s.
      Then Dan value bet hands is AK or KK, bluff hands like missing flash draw, so 99 can be a call at river, but fold is not bad play either.

    I think this:
    1) Aaron had around 30% pot odds to call, with a small SPR
    2) suppose Dan was in a nutted range like KK+, JJ, QTs
    3) we have to consider also stuff like AKo, AKs in Dan's range!
    4) and just with a final range of (KK+, JJ, QTs, AK) 99's set is good around 41%, so still +EV to call! if we add in more weak hands like AJ or AQ, it is even better for Aaron!
    Anyway, was a weird hand cause Dan's play on the river was pretty much reckless and yes he had some blockers, but I feel him here to be too much confident. Also, cause the SPR was small and Aaron was pretty much committed so it's hard to get good fold equity. I think Aaron was too much nitty here. Nice hand though!

      Lmao. That doesn't mean shit. You play your hand the way it would be played in any situation. If they're a river rat, then so be it. But you don't play like shit on the flop, call a fucking 1k raise, buy in for all your worth & bet your solid hand on river to fold to a reraise. That screams bluff 99% of the time. No way dude was chasing a straight, especially a gutter. On the turn you should know he's playing top pair or 2 pair at best. No high limit player is chasing a straight all the way unless you let them. And this dumbass let him act like he was chasing. A-ron fucked up from the second he decided to buy in. What a tard. That's a snap call, no more than 5 seconds to call. If you lose on river card then, that's poker.

    Thing is, in a hypothetical situation would Dan be doing this if he had KK when QTs is in buttons range ? 3bet/Bet/Check-Call/Check-Shove with KK?
    Im asking is it Ok to check raise allin on the river with KK on this board giventhat the button could have all his suited QT's in his range because Dan made such a small cbet on the flop, A button player with all QsTs is going to call and peel one off here and/or float very often if he was faced with such a small cbet sizing on the flop right? Basically Im asking if it would be fine to go all in with KK on the river if the Button has all QTs in his range. Thanks

    • @SpicyNuggs562
      @SpicyNuggs562 Před 3 lety

      I would say check-shoving with KK is pretty good here. We know Aaron doesn't have AA, and Aaron will most likely pay us off with plenty of two-pair and set combos. So, we're really only worried about QT, but he's just not going to have it that often.

    Do you guys think that QTs is a good hand to 3bet from BB when you are this deep? If we get 4bet we have to fold a hand that plays well pos-flop. I think we should rather 3bet polozired (AJs+, TT+ for value and some suited connectors 65s, 76s, 98s / A2-5s for bluff) and call the rest. What do you think? If Dan constructs his range that way, he wouldn't have QT hearts.
