I'll never forget the tag line of this movie:
"Pieces. It's exactly what you think it is!"
Genius
9 years ago i remember watching this video, i was going through withdrawals trying to get clean, i was watching all your videos. 8 years clean BTW, this was a big help to me those first few days. i am going back now to rewatch these old videos, i need a little comfort videos cause i am going through something. 9 years later, You still helping me.
The censored puzzle has me giggling way more than I should.
Thrano Same here!
That and her reaction really cracked me up.
The Baasstaarrdd Lady's sister was the "We Made You!!" Lady from Maximum Overdrive
Flamethrower Fluf Salisbury Lol
This film is indeed completely nuts, but fun as hell!
"the idiot's in control now" Lol! funniest line in the review. I'm sure you noticed the white haired Lorne Greene guy was the poacher from Pod Peeps as well.
Cyril Thanks! Had to throw in some Pod People :)
Frank Bruni. :)
"Bastard! Baastard!! BASTARD!!!!" I havent laughed like that in a while...
when I was young I discovered an (adult) comic book called Cherry Poptart. That was my porn until I was old enough to actually get porn. They are online now and I was looking at them and laughing. So corny.
Back in the days when we actually had to use our imaginations to jerk off! Now, you can't even search the word "the" without pulling up ten dozen kinds of porn.
New England Patriots pennant at 1:54. Team founded as Boston Patriots in 1960, awesome!
To paraphrase Bellichick, the production team should have "done their job."
Thanks for watching! On the DVD Eli Roth spends a good few minutes talking about how much he loves the movie. He has intro'd it for a few festivals.
Every movie should end like Pieces with the leading man getting his junk ripped off. Think about it, The Notebook...Pretty Woman...The Passion of the Christ...
Another anachronism is the “Go get me a plastic bag” - in 1942. People didn’t have plastic bags until the sixties. Unless the family was full of scientists, they wouldn’t even know what a plastic bag is.
pieces is the first slasher horror movie i ever saw, when i was 11 and thats 30 years ago. i have to find a full video, but im excited to see this. just started, UPDATE 3 minutes in i paused it to say youre freaking hilarious and i dont really need to see the whole movie anymore, and i subscribed
Thank you! You really should check the movie out, its insane.
The villain's appearance was based on The Shadow? That's actually kind of cool, though disturbing.
I'm about to rewatch this review again, after having watched it with Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder right now. I was amazed by how laughable this movie was. Murder, Kendall getting laid, murder, Kendall getting laid, MURDER, KENDALL GETTING LAID! You would think at one point, maybe, just maybe, the "Boston" police would have said, "We should close this school until the murderer is caught!" And maybe the women on the campus would have thought, "Maybe I shouldn't be walking around by myself." But no. That would get in the way of Kendall getting laid, not to mention the murder.
Also, it seemed as if the lead cop wanted to have sex with Kendall as well, to the point of deputizing Kendall, and defending him, anytime anyone even remotely doubted him. It was a fun movie. Now back to your review.
7:20 I came back here after watching the documentary "Enter the Clones of Bruce" and seeing Wong Kin-lung's (Bruce Le) interview, saying he wasn't aware that he was going to be in a horror film as a cameo. Which in this he show's up at 7:20 it's so random and out of place it's funny af. Maan I immediately remember this review you made after they showed the clip. Thanks for keeping this review up Cecil, I need to rewatch this slasher movie again soon haha.
I really need to get that Clones of Bruce Lee box set. Thanks! If you want to watch Pieces its currently on Tubi :)
Omg only 4 and half mins in and it’s already brilliant. To the bang on the water bed in the gym 🤦🏻♂️ , sneaky up to somebody with a chainsaw, and the corners report “head cut off by a fucking chainsaw!?!” 😂 I fuckin love this channel lol
l cant wait to finally see this.At 45 its never too late to enjoy what you love.
Yep, Juan Piquer Simón also made Slugs. The pancakes thing was just something goofy and random that came up on set.
OMG, that BASTARD scene at 8:43 is hilarious!!
I still feel that the scene was just one "bastard" shy from perfection:)
You have to review Basket Case!
its all about the memory foam
'Down girl, you know what they say about sugar!'
'No, I don't!'
Well isn't it obvious? Sugar rots your teeth. Hint hint.
I didn't know it could be interpreted that way.
Thanks for watching :)
I miss the old introduction where at the end every review got the Ice nod of approval.
Love the movie, love your opening music.
They don't care, it's like yelling at a wall. I'm not even kidding, after it happened I was forced to watch a video and then take a test about copyright laws before they would let me post anything again. It was absurd. It's just frustrating because I'm actually creating something not just posting a movie in segments but to them I'm no different.
That scene with Bruce Le is hilarious.
watchin' this ten years after release, and it's GREAT ! btw. watching all productions since the begining of Your channel.
Years ago my local old school video store went out of business. They were selling the tapes cheap, so I bought all that was left of the horror and adult sections. One hidden gem that I didn't recognize until I played it was was Mil Gritos Tien La Noche, the Spanish version of Pieces.
Hannibal Bloodsaw What were the adult titles you bought? :)
I got a chance to see this in a crowded theater in high school. It's still one of my favorite movies.
lol it is catchy isn't it? I had a bit I had to cut. Actually, I had a lot of stuff I cut for this one. I might have to throw up a deleted scenes ep for this one.
I love this movie so much! Just saw it last night and when I saw the classic Grindhouse movie start up, I said to myself, "I'm going to like this movie!" Only to find out later that I didn't like it...I loved it! Great review by the way :D
Thanks! I know the whole thing is going along pretty normal and then it loses its mind completely in the last 30 seconds. My wife had never seen this until last week and she loved the movie up to that point.
me too, they were some of the most creative times
He has some serious competition with this crew. They made so many mistakes it was hilarious.
BASTARD!!!
I wonder if that is why she dislikes the movie. Random people coming up to her and yelling bastard.
I love movies that don't play pretend and are just what they are, sometimes!;) And this is one of those! Love it, even though the ending is super sick!;D
I rather skip the ending part of the film & go straight for the credits.
Really makes one wonder why Lynda wants nothing to do with this film. That line is the stuff of horror movie legends. Reminds me of how Nicole Kidman is with BMX Bandits, they both acted well and are generally praised for their performances in those films. Only thing I can think of is that they don't like the subject matter and in that case it's even more impressive because performing well in a project that one doesn't like can be extremely difficult.
dude they had some guts back then. special effects were awesome i'm 17 and i love 1920's-2010's horror, action, b movies, and cult flicks that are so bad they're good and good but are underated.
With each of these Videos you learn more about Cecil. I feel ya bro
seriously, im going to start doing karate moves when i want Pancakes.
same director as slugs..love it ...and pieces....good flicks....cheers
Ah, the Cinema Snob and I totally agree with this one. Well...I guess technically it would be Brad and I since the Snob was too cool for it lol. His show is one of the few review shows I actually watch.
Wow I had no idea that this was the same guy who directed Pod People I absolutely love that episode of MST3K.
This is a slept on classic. I didn't even notice the touch tone phone. LOL
Ian Sera must have impressed Simon a whole lot since he put Sara in the movie "Mystery on Monster Island" opposite Peter Cushing and Terrance Stamp. And watch for the lifts in Sera's shoes in "Pieces"....they're quite impressive.
Sadly, no can do. Even though what I do is covered under fair use if the content owner sends a copyright claim then it is gone on YT. It still lives on my site though. A shame, it was a very good episode and defended the movie for being unique. However their lawyers thought differently.
Christopher George was great in the short lived early 70's ABC show "The Immortal". May have been late 60's, too lazy to hit IMDB :)
SeattleMarksJoint3 It ran for one season (1970-1971). Before that, he was in "The Rat Patrol".
I remember renting this from Hollywood Video when I was about 12 and it freak the shit out of me, I was use to horror movies but this was on a different level, great review!
I've never seen this one...Now I'm interested... especially after your review and seeing that Roth liked it.
Thanks for another great episode, C!
Yeah, he sticks with exploitation from the 70s-early 80s mostly. He does his vlogs where he ventures to more current stuff. I like to just mix a little bit of everything. I try not to go too current because those are the ones that YT removes. (I found that out the hard way with Human Centipede)
when i was 16, i saw this with my gf at assembly square in somerville, ma. when it came out...
I have always loved this movie.
I love this movie and finally got the epic 3 disc blu-ray set today. First thing I did was watch the Spanish cut with the o.g. soundtrack a few extra minutes added to the runtime.
In some ways I like it better since it's definitely got a more serious feel... but damn it's just as dumb as ever. But not AS dumb as the English dub. Can't see me going back to the Spanish cuz what I know is so much gold.
Also the added 42nd Street Memories doc makes it so much more worth it. Plus the soundtrack. Ooh boy that's quality stuff!
Also also... she screams "Animal! Animal! ANIMAL!!!" instead of the classic "bastard". I definitely prefer the latter.
4:34 "this chainsaw's a part of me... and i'm gonna make it a part of you!" ("Dat's alright... you keep it!!")
10:43 ... Are those Marciano wedges?! So cute! Oh...wait.. those aren't the trademark red soles *after* all... just mom's good old fashioned blood soaked pumps. Trolled again!
This is a cool review. I liked how you worked trivia into the end. Definitely going tow be checking out your other work
10:53-11:01 basically Ghostbusters 2016
This one was my first. -After reading Poe from-since I could read, it was -Let's go with entertaining. Ahhh, I miss the '80s.
That should be your closing music all the time!
Watch the original Spanish version. It has a much eerier piano soundtrack and a darker tone. Even better if you don't understand Spanish.
Pieces is a great slasher flick but the bastard scene is just soooo over the top it’s downright hilarious. The ending was painful to watch but at the same time his facial expressions get a nice laugh.
It's 1942, why would police care about finger prints, which weren't really even used properly till the 90s night stalker case. Also it's the 40s, it's given that people didn't consider children to be dangerous little shit like we sorta know 'em today.
BTW, love you channel.
Thanks!
Thinking about it now can the hero be Eddie Deezen.
Thank you MST3K.
Planning on watching the Maniac remake this week
great movie
Maniac was much more hardcore than a lot of things
What is it with serial killers and momy issues? Slashers are basicly telling me that behind every killer is a bad mother.
Unfortunately, most of the misogynistic real life serial killers had an awful past with their moms.
I think it's a handy cliché, but a serial killer with a good childhood would be far more likely, and frightening. Murder, like all forms of violence, has so many different motivations.
YES to all of that
The red herring gardener Paul L. Smith had big roles in Popeye, Dune and Red Sonja! How did he end up in this???
If you think showing a killer kid is one thing, just remember that Michael, Jason and Freddy were kids once too. While not directly connected, Mikey and The Good Son are two interesting films with killer minors. Unfortunately after James Bulger was killed, the films were rejected by the BBFC. While The Good Son can be viewed, Mikey still needs to be resubmitted.
The Shadow is my ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTER!
The best I can figure is that many attractive girls are either:
a) looking to get some acting creds under their belt
b) very pretty but can't act so this is their best bet
Now sometimes they get lucky and land in a good movie but still can't act but their looks overshadow their acting ability.
This review is exactly what I thought it was.
Better than the Snob? Seriously, I'm flattered. :)
Brad is very talented and holy crap is he a workaholic with the show. I can't believe the amount of content he churns out.
i was to young to be bothered about the fashion but i did like the 80s music especially the over use of the electronic keyboard ha ha and yes i loved the cartoons from the 80s you forgot to mention transformers and centurions and mask and the comics like spider man v zoids
I somehow own this Movie on DVD and never realized anyone else had ever seen it
Best Worst Movie was fantastic. Yeah, the director did take himself a bit too seriously although I wonder if it was just a goof. When you make a movie like Troll 2 you have to know you are making something bad.
BASTARRRRD!! Chill take some upper's or something! Classic!
+Mr Cthulhu Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't insert a bit from SOUTH PARK with Kyle.
paused it again, that goldfish joke was priceless
yeah and I got a strike on my account so they cut my time to 15 minutes per episode. This sucks. I wish I could just make the show I wanted to make and not have to deal with this nonsense. I am basically giving these movies free publicity and yet I get penalized for it.
you win!
One of the greatest B cheese fests of all time.
It's a slasher film! Who cares how the killer got the evidence! It's a plot twist! :)
Absolutely hilarious movie
Thank you!
BASTARD!!!! (10min edition)
It's still coming! Lots to do with that one still.
Ian Sera is the Klaus Kinski to Juan Piquer Simon's Werner Herzog; they did a surprising number of films together. Just replace "lugging a steamboat up a mountain" with "random kung-fu guy out of nowhere".
Well blow me down, Paul L. Smith. Always popping up in the most random of places
Candyman is excellent. Tony Todd is grand
I already know I'm going to see the movie so I'm dodging the trailer as to not have any more of the movie spoiled.
Just remember the poster being up on this video rental place in Ontario Oregon.... Should check it out...
One of my favorite movies ever
I remember as a teen seeing this at the video store & being too afraid to rent/watch it. Evil Dead was the ultimate horror at the time. Watched it 13 times lol..
And can’t forget the best part ..... it has Bluto!!!!! Lol I was sold after that!
Maniac is brutal!
